Politics › Fayose Claim's On Salary Delay False - Apc by georjay(op): 4:06am On May 13, 2015 |
The All Progressives Congress in Ekiti State has asked Governor Ayodele Fayose to stop peddling lies about the e-payment system introduced by a former governor of the state, Dr. Kayode Fayemi. The Ekiti State Government, on Tuesday, began the verification of 48,977 workers in the state public service, which would last till next week Monday, while the payment of April salary would begin on Wednesday. Special Assistant to the governor on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, in a statement on Sunday, said the verification exercise was aimed at preventing about N500m from being lost to ghost workers monthly through the e-payment system contracted to a private company by the Fayemi administration. But the APC faulted Fayose, saying discrediting the scheme was another lie to defend his alleged greed, insensitivity and lack of commitment to the welfare of Ekiti workers. The state Publicity Secretary, Taiwo Olatubosun, in a statement on Tuesday said, “The e-payment system is the system employed all over the world, including many PDP-controlled states and at the federal level. The e-payment system has proved very effective in Ekiti State as workers were not owed any salary for the period Fayemi was in the saddle. “The system has also been used by Fayose in paying workers since he assumed office; and so when did he suddenly discover that the e- payment system is not good?” Olatubosun said if there was any system that had the potential to eliminate fraud in salary payment; the e-payment was the answer. The statement added, “We are aware of his plans to bring into Ekiti civil service outsiders from Ibadan who are his cronies against the civil service rules. “Ekiti workers should ask Fayose why the same e- payment system ensured their regular salary payment under the Fayemi administration but it is now impossible under his administration despite the reduction in the work force as many workers, including permanent secretaries, have been sacked. “Many employment schemes that take millions of naira from the government’s treasury have been cancelled by the governor, a six month moratorium was granted in bond debt repayment, which enabled him to save N3bn.” Olatubosun challenged the governor to tell Ekiti people how much he pays monthly to his Anambra and Ogun states election sponsors. While sympathising with the workers, he urged them to use all legal means to demand their pay and “resist any disguised attempt to sack them as the current verification exercise was another smokescreen for a fraudulent agenda against workers’ interest. Politics › Apc Leaders Facilitated Kashamu's Victory: Amosun's Aide by georjay(op): 3:56am On May 13, 2015 |
The Special Adviser to Governor Ibikunle Amosun on General Duties, Mr. Osinowo Ibrahim, says some leaders of the All Progressives Congress worked to ensure the victory of Buruji Kashamu of the Peoples Democratic Party in the Ogun-East senatorial election. Ibrahim said in a statement on Tuesday, that it was the betrayal by the APC leaders that caused the party to have a poor outing in Ogun-East. He said that it was unfortunate that despite the numerous projects inaugurated by Amosun in Ogun-East, people could betray the governor. He, therefore, vowed that those who betrayed the party would be punished. He said, “Our poor performance in the last National Assembly, governorship and state assembly elections in Ogun-East shows that we didn’t appreciate the governor and his efforts. I call on all the party leaders that worked for the PDP, especially those that worked for Kashamu and Wale Alausa’s group to prepare to reap from their ungrateful attitude to Amosun and the APC. “We have facts of some self-acclaimed APC leaders that collaborated with Kashamu/PDP to deny our party the victory at the senatorial polls, likewise the governorship and state assembly elections, despite the strong support the governor showed to our district.” Ibrahim promised Amosun continuous support of the people of Ijebu-Ode and Ogun-East senatorial district. Ibrahim said the people of Ijebu-Ode and the people of Ogun East know that Amosun remains the best choice for the state. The statement read, “I am very sure they love Governor Amosun and his government, but some unfaithful elements that are working for the Social Democratic Party and the PDP have portrayed the people of the area as ungrateful elements and betrayed the governor by selling their votes.” Source: http://www.punchng.com/politics/apc-leaders-secured-kashamus-victory-amosuns-aide/ |

Politics › Buhari To Get Handover Note, Tour Presidential Villa May 28 by georjay(op): 3:27am On May 13, 2015 |
The President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, will get his handover notes from President Goodluck Jonathan on May 28, 2015.
He will also be conducted round the Presidential Villa, Abuja, alongside the Vice President-elect, Yemi Osinbajo, by the outgoing President on the same day.
These were parts of the transition programmes that were approved on Tuesday at a meeting of the Council of State, presided over by President Goodluck Jonathan.
Governor Babangida Aliyu of Niger State and Governor Gabriel Suswam of Benue State briefed State House correspondents at the end of the meeting.
Aliyu said the Council approved a template that will henceforth be used during subsequent transition programmes in the country.
He said the process leading to the takeover of government by Buhari would commence with a Jumat service that would be held on Friday, May 22, adding that a church service would be held on Sunday, May 24.
He did not give details of where the services would hold. However, national Islamic events are held inside the National Mosque, Abuja, while national Christian events hold inside the National Christian Centre.
The governor said a Presidential dinner would be held on May 28, during which the handover notes prepared by Ministries, Departments and Agencies would be presented to Buhari.
According to him, Jonathan would also conduct Buhari and Osinbajo round offices and strategic places in the Presidential Villa on the same day.
He said, “The sitting and the incoming government both selected their transition teams with their terms of reference.
“But both teams have almost become one because of the interface, so that every detail that is required in governance, nothing will be new to the incoming government.
“Every Ministry, Department and Agency that has worked for government, including all the funds that have been collected, how they have been utilised and the assets and the liabilities of government will all be put together in documents and be handed over to the incoming government.
“Officially, the document will be handed over on May 28.”
He added that apart from the President’s inauguration, a presidential luncheon and gala night would hold on May 29.
For the inauguration, Aliyu said leaders of all African countries, as well as Presidents and Prime Ministers of G8, had been invited for the inauguration.
He said invitations had also been extended to heads of international organisations, like the United Nations, Commonwealth, ECOWAS and African Union.
He said the council warned against “African time syndrome”, whereas guests would arrive earlier than those who invited them.
He added that during the meeting, a former Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon, moved a motion that Jonathan be thanked for his contribution to national development.
He said while Gowon lauded Jonathan for conceding victory in the last election, he also commended Buhari for being magnanimous in victory.
He said the actions of the two leaders had succeeded in stopping the tension witnessed in the country ahead of the elections.
Suswam, on his part, said the National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd.), delivered a comprehensive presentation on security situation in the country, especially the successes being recorded against Boko Haram, to the council.
He said the NSA assured council members that with the feat being achieved by the nation’s troops, the incoming government would not be contending with insurgency.
He quoted Dasuki as saying that before May 29, Sambisa Forest would be properly combed and the insurgents’ camps annihilated.
He added that the NSA told the council that it took a while to win the war because since civil war, the country had not witnessed such a security challenge. http://www.punchng.com/news/buhari-to-get-handover-note-tour-villa-may-28/ |
