The Nigerian Army says it does not have in its possession the original or copies of the credentials of the presidential candidate of the APC, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari. The All Progressive Congress, (APC) rally in Gbagada area of Lagos State yesterday was interrupted by violence as political thugs clashed at the venue leading to the death of two people. Dailypost learnt that trouble started midway into the campaign when one of the speakers was addressing supporters.

The rally that started on a peaceful accord saw members dressed in the party attire. However, problem started when opposing group took up weapons against each other.

According to an eyewitness, one of the groups, which arrived at the venue late started causing pandemonium as party members were seen running in confusion. Enyimba Football Club of Aba captain, Chinedu Udoji, has expressed satisfaction over the performance of the homebased Super Eagles team against Ivory Coast, insisting that the players will do better when they clash against Yemen in an international friendly on Saturday.

Ivory Coast defeated Nigeria 1-0 in an international friendly, but they had to do it the hard way, waiting until the 84th minute before they could breach a Nigerian team made up of locally based players, with the Steven Ukoh the only foreign based player in the team.

Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom on Wednesday condemned the rising rate of murders in the state.

Akpabio made the condemnation at the swearing in of the new Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Uwemedimo Nwoko, and five new permanent secretaries in Uyo.

He said that 168 suspected murder cases were reported in the state in 2014.

''There are cases of children who killed their parents, husbands who murdered their wives and vice versa.’’

A court in Egypt has overturned the convictions for embezzlement of former President Hosni Mubarak and his two sons and ordered a retrial.

Mr Mubarak was jailed for three years in May after being found guilty of fraudulently billing the government for $14m (£9.3m) of personal expenses.

But the Court of Cassation found legal procedures were not followed properly.

It was the last remaining case keeping Mr Mubarak behind bars. The 86-year-old has been in detention since April 2011.

Mr Mubarak's lawyer told the BBC he hoped his client would soon be released from Cairo military hospital, where is being held.

Jim O'Neill, former chairman of Goldman Sachs Asset Management, has stated that a loss by Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan in general elections next month may be viewed “positively” by foreign investors and probably won’t rattle markets.

These days, it seems Governor Adams Oshiomole's name is only mentioned for the wrong reasons in the news.

More facts have emerged on the recent inauguration of Ujogba Road in Edo Central Senatorial district by the state government.

Reports say a priest attached to Saint Dennis Catholic Church, Ujogba, Reverend Father Peter Udo was allegedly beaten into coma by some aide of Governor Adams Oshiomhole for allegedly failing to leave the road on time when the governor and other visitors who arrived the area for the inauguration.

It took the intervention of some Samaritan, who rushed the Reverend Father to Saint Camilus hospital, Uromi where he was given medical attention.

Reverend Father Udo, who was allegedly beaten into coma by governor Adams Oshiomhole aides has, however, been discharged from Saint Camilus Hospital from where he has been taken to an unknown destination.

A visit to Reverend Father Udo’s Church in Ujogba today revealed that he did not participate in the Church service.

Attempt by the news crew to ascertain his where about were unsuccessful as the Parish Priest declined comment on the issue.
