Meritocracy: Real politics play by efcc, now being deputy senate president and efcc ambassador he would caution himself in supporting corrupt guru among the senators trying to pass laws to weaken anti corruption. House divided already. That is exactly what I believe too. EFCC playing on his vanity and applying the reverse psychology game to get a much needed ally in the upper echelons of the Senate, against saraki and the rest. |

In order to protect the first family in any country they are flown on first class...they are never neglected.
I don't like the man's economic policies bt lets call a spade a spade. PDP is jst complaining unnecessarily. in my adopted country, the president flies airforce one. But a seriously broke 3rd world country like yours should not have the children of President fly first class. It does not set a good example. They are nobodies. You are a tribalist. Assuming i opened a thread blasting the fulani's i wont be considered as a weak link in the south. You guys are not diplomatic and believe violence and confrontations is the solution to every problems. My suggestion so far makes me a coward in the eyes of you and your fellow ipad yoots. This is the reason your lord and saviour Nnamdi Kanu is locked up in jail for displaying bravery without common sense. You claim the cattle herders are killers. The FG propose to give them portions of lands for grazing so they wont eat your farm produce anymore. What else do you want? You preffer they send them back to the north to rear their cattles forgetting they have the right to live and work anywhere in Nigeria just like you When fashola sent back igbo beggars we remmember the reactions from the easterners. Do onto others what u can do to yourselves I won't bother writing a dissertation for you. It is irrelevant. Ask your state governments to give Yoruba lands to them, I won't give a hoot. |

Wallade: OK. It has to be South-South then. Your description of Ibaka waterways really makes it attractive for a port proposal. I vote for a port in Ibaka - South-South.
Thank you for the information. I wish you a lovely day. A seaport of Lagos class in the SS would be tremendous for the east. Have a good day too. |

Goke7: Cross river is already planning one which has the blessings of FG, there is nothing wrong in railway dear, stop the politics. FG has just approved more international flight destinations for the SE from Enugu and an indigenous airline for that. This will reduce the heavy traffic in Lagos airports and create more economic activities in the SE. A seaport is not a job for the state government alone. The FG either deliberately or otherwise is taking up irrelevant projects and leaving vital ones to the largely incompetent States. Smh The enugu airport deal had been in progress long before buhari got In. In fact, it had to take a daughter of the soil to make that airport international after years of deliberate neglect. |
Politics › Re: FG Provoking Ndigbo Everyday – Ekweremadu by Gext22: 9:50am On Apr 18, 2016 |
Wallade: I asked that question to determine how stupid you could be.
You mentioned Ibaka and also indicated that it is located in the South-South so that is a wrong answer. The question focused on South-East.
You mentioned Abia and I couldn't stop wondering if there is a sea near Abia. When you talk about seaport, you don't mean river port or poolport. It has to be a seaport which is equipped to handle ships of, at least, moderate sizes. Even Calabar and Port-Harcourt sea ports can not handle or accommodate some vessels. As popular as Lagos seaport is, it also can't handle some big vessels.
What did you do with education, even if it is substandard, Google is your friend. of course you wouldn't know about the proposed seaport in abia state, you mindless simpleton. I am not as particular with having any seaport in the Se as I am with having a very standard one in close proximity to the eastern region due to the obvious advantages to the east, which was why I gave the Ibaka example. A waterway that has the capacity for much bigger ships and has a much longer coastline than Lagos. |
Politics › Re: FG Provoking Ndigbo Everyday – Ekweremadu by Gext22: 9:34am On Apr 18, 2016 |
Kollyman: Even if the ports are up and running, most importers would still prefer using Lagos port for the following reasons:
1. Most vessels that bring in goods from abroad are enroute Lagos being the base of major importers. The shipping companies are into business and they would not because of a good that is less than 5% of the total cargos and change their route to the east.
2. Major bulk breakers prefare picking their stocks in Lagos as it is just like going into the market where varieties of what you need can be seen and purchased.
3. Larger chunk of the imported goods are consumed in the S/W and neighbouring states ( I know you might want to argue this), e.g, 2015 FRSC report confirmed that over 45% of vehicles in Nigeria are in Lagos alone.
4. It is much easier for the importers to transport their goods from Lagos to other parts of the country than anywhere else.
5. Major facilities needed for smooth importation are located in Lagos. Take for instance, when the Federal government wanted to concession the fercilities in Nigeria ports, over 85% of the concessioneer S showed interest in Lagos ports only.
The truth is that major traders prefare to do their business in the hub.
Other countries examples:
1. South Africa has over 5 ports but majority of importation activities are done in Jo'bourg.
2. Same with Kenya and Egypt. SA has five ports. Nigeria should build more standard ports like Lagos and let water find its level. |

Goke7: are there not plans already? we've been hearing these plan for years now, railway contributes positively all over the world. Please stop brainwashing people The FG should take the project as a priority and bring it to fruition. Railway would not have as much impact on the eastern economy like a seaport would. The FG should build a seaport first, and build a railway after. You accuse and taunt them of flooding Lagos for economic opportunity. Give them the wherewithal to build their own Lagos. |
Politics › Re: FG Provoking Ndigbo Everyday – Ekweremadu by Gext22: 9:19am On Apr 18, 2016 |
Wallade: Where in South-East do you want government to build a sea port? Please answer the question. abia has a decent potential for seaport. If that is too far-fetched, ibaka in the SS is also a perfect option. I wonder why all those people that want igbos to leave Lagos are fighting for a rail that Connects both regions. It is time to put their money where their mouths are. Build a seaport and scrap any useless railway that would not help the eastern economy In the long run. |
Politics › Re: FG Provoking Ndigbo Everyday – Ekweremadu by Gext22: 9:01am On Apr 18, 2016 |
Wallade: I didn't want to dignify you with a response earlier but when I saw this rejoinder you made, I felt the need to make a position.
Let's look critically at the existence of a Lagos - Calabar railine. It will pass through a lot of states where there can be stop overs and products, both locally manufactured and imported raw materials or unfinished goods, can be delivered timely, efficiently and effectively at less cost.
It is only logical to take more advantage of Lagos port because of proximity and the ability of the port to accommodate bigger vessels. Why do you think it is so convenient for ships to stop in Lagos rather than other ports in Nigeria.
Moreover, ships can can also stop I. Calabar too and the products can be distributed via the rail lines to states along the Calabar - Lagos route.
Have you thought of all the trailers falling and traffic on the interstate roads. Do you know how many heavy duty trucks move goods along the interstate roads managing the risks along such roads. Do you think about wear and damages to those roads due to the constant use especially by heavy duty trucks.
Your problem is basic - your thoughts are shallow. How could someone like you think out of the box? But the people are not Interested in your rail. They want a port for reasons best known to them. You can't like the SE more than the South easterners themselves. If a rail is their most important priority, they would fight for it themselves. The fg should build a seaport there instead of a railway that only benefit Lagos. |
