soldierdollar: Change your charger. A good charger should supply a voltage a little bit higher than the rated voltage on your battery. If your battery is rated as 3.5v and you use a 3.5v or lower rated charger, you will charge forever. Bad chargers also have the tendency of reducing battery life and could hang your touchscreen.
