Africans are some gullible people? So you prefer the local gods who want twins to be sacrificed and want human blood every year? I will choose a foreign God who Willy provide me with clean water instead of drinking the same water with animals as well as providing me three meas a day.

How time flies, I don't condone some of the hat comments on that link, but hey its child play as compared to the invectives spewed by your compatriots against Ghanaians on this forum daily.

wazobiaN9:
I have read many comments by my "fellow Nigerians" on the above topic.

As a Nigerian living in Ghana, I will try to shed more light...

You are advised to view this Ghanaian web site on the subject, and the hateful comments by hating Ghanaians, most of who "do not see beyond their noses" http://www.ghanaweb.com/GhanaHomePage/NewsArchive/artikel.php?ID=344183&comment=0#com

There is no law against politicians campaigning on any global platform especially when you think you can speak to possible voters via the medium.

There are over 2 millions Nigerians residing in Ghana, and I can tell you that a majority are deeply interested in the elections and coming home to vote in fact.

This act by the Ghanaian government is as a result of the heightened xenophobia against Nigerian interests by its people. Several hate comments were made against Nigeria on several Ghanaian stations (radio & tv), Ghana web sites and many other media simply because of the seemingly harmless adverts. This is not uncommon tho.

I speak as a Nigerian working & living in Ghana.. till I resign or get transferred back by my coy. I can tell you that the first hand experience of this subject is not particularly pleasant.

Posterity will not forget this and many other acts of hate against Nigeria by our West African brothers and sisters. If they don't learn from history, it will simply repeat itself...
asts-bashing-by-nigerian-officials.html

Below is a letter from the Ghana High
Commission in Nigeria to a Nigerian newspaper,
appealing to Nigerian government officials to
refrain from spreading falsehood about Ghana.
SIR: I am compelled to write to express serious
concern about a couple of statements by some
top Nigerian officials about Ghana in recent
weeks. Last month, Defence Minister Godwin
Abbe was quoted as saying, "the volume of
water generated in Ghana is not enough to
flush toilets in Lagos State, the number of
teachers you have to pay salaries in the whole
of Ghana is not more than Western Nigeria so
that is that. And the whole of Ghanaian Armed
Forces, if you choose to know, is not more than
just two brigades of the Nigerian Armed Forces,
period."
Only last weekend, Education Minister Sam
Egwu was on national radio talking about the
ongoing ASUU strike, and he made the most
ridiculous assertion that all the university
lecturers in Ghana will not be adequate for a
single university in Nigeria! This is a blatant
falsehood. Anyone who had been to the
University of Ghana Legon (with a student
population of more than 40,000), can testify to
the fact that probably no university in Nigeria
has more space and facilities than Legon. And
there are at least five more public universities
in Ghana. There are also a dozen privately-
owned universities in Ghana, offering quality
education to Ghanaians and foreigners alike,
including a growing number of Nigerians.
And in the case of the defence minister, we do
not know where he got his information from
regarding the current strength of the Ghana
armed forces. Needless to say that the
Ghanaian military is one of the best trained on
the continent and had performed exceptionally
well in various international assignments. The
entire first generation of Nigerian military
officers, including Generals Olusegun Obasanjo,
Hassan Katsina and Adebayo were all trained in
Ghana. Ghanaian army generals have
commanded UN troops in Lebanon, Liberia,
Rwanda, Darfur, etc over the years.
Information Minister Dora Akunyili also told a
local television network at the end of August
that the whole of Ghana is not even up to the
size of Lagos! Even a child in kindergarten
knows that to be untrue. Government officials,
unlike private citizens, traditionally tend to be
circumspect about what they say about other
countries. Ghana is smaller than Nigeria, and I
reckon everyone knows that as a fact. And it is
certainly not the only country in the world that
is smaller than Nigeria. Or is it? Or have
Nigerian government officials only suddenly
realised how 'small' Ghana is?
Our concern really is that such reckless and
unguarded comments could have grave
implications for bilateral relations and derail
efforts by leaders of the two countries to forge
strong bilateral ties. We think President Umaru
Yar'Adua should call his ministers to order. The
Ghana bashing must stop! Ghana is a well-
respected member of the international
community, and deserves respect from
Nigerians, particularly top government officials.

bro no country should advertise their political agenda in another mans country whether it be togo or nigeria. It is really unheard of only in GH. I think a lot of ghanaians are afraid that it will attract boko haram if it is seen that we are in support of a certain party. Am sure there are many other ways they can reach out to their ppl in gh.

But the insults and arguments is so unneccessary. I read some comments and I think wow so much hatred for one another. How did it get to this.

You have a point there, but I feel Jdm's insatiable appetite of criticising bokko harram is what is going to invite them to Ghana and not billboards albeit people have genuine reasons to believe otherwise. The act of tearing down the posters is what is going to upset diplomatic courtesies, the deed had already been done, they could have urged the two political parties not to erect anymore billboards.

But Charley! I never knew Ghanaians had this venom, it was just like déjà vu only that the roles had changed. This thing is not funny.

On a serious note this has been blown out of proportion. The posters should not have even been up in the first place.

Lol! You have a point there, but all the same I am going to invite that guy to this site.

On the contrary, I saw nothing wrong with the posters, hitherto, I thought Nigerian elections were a sham, but for them to take campaigning serious meant they were trying to cleaning up their act. What is wrong in reaching out to your electorates and letting some advertisers in Ghana earn some buck? What next? will BNI stop Togolese political parties from printing their posters in Ghana? Because I know they print their paraphernalia In GH. Perhaps, they are peeved because they did not seek clearance from them.

I would not have brought this up, but I see you are fond of taking Mahama to the cleaners. I see you stylishly ignored my earlier post to you when I said it was under Kufuors reign that I first saw Nigerian political billboards during Obj's second term campaign after you boasted that it would "never happen under npp", I am not here to clear selective myopia.
iamord:
even nkrumah that we so much idolize was not without faults, so dwelling on the past always we not solve anything, NDC has spoilt ghana and the team are not capable of taking ghana to the next level.. A lot of the projects mahamas government is doing was initiated by k4. NDC is intellectually not capable of transforming the economy.. Even ndoum will make a good choice

Nkrumah was without faults? I guess you will wine and dine with people who plotted to overthrow you, or threw bombs at you, today the Americans have Guantanamo bay just like what Nkrumah's "preventive detention act". Which NDC has spoilt Ghana? Are NDC members made up of aliens? As your government is, as your society is, so also are you, No politician can save Ghana especially those in opposition, because guess what? They will do worse because of #adidigya
As a student of history, I have come to accept that the npp are the republicans of Ghana politics. They see no good in any government unless they are in charge. Granted Mahama is the worse we have at this point in time, his leadership qualities etal, but Nana addo can never be better than him.
The npp does not know constructive criticism, I read how they demonstrated against Ghana's independence, witnessed how they maligned the Rawlings administration, saw how they sold state assets to foreigners, killed the local poultry, rice and sugar industries to pay back campaign loans over the years in opposition(is that the kind of economics you want?)
Even Nduom might make a better choice, but its left to the Ghanaian electorates to decide. Did Mahama take away peoples livelihoods from them or took a bulldozer to create potholes on our roads simply because there was a change in government?

Citi:

The Ashanti Regional Commander of the Ghana
Police Service, DCOP Kofi Boakye has said the
New Patriotic Party (NPP) labeled him as a
National Democratic Congress (NDC) party
sympathizer.
This he said was because he was assigned to
the former President Jerry John Rawlings on a
number of his international travels.
According to him, “NPP came to power and
some of us were nearly sacked because there
was that presumption that once I have traveled
with the head of state before; because I
traveled with Rawlings to Libya, once I was the
lead Policeman whenever Rawlings is coming I
am automatically NDC.”

He said such misconception compelled him to
stop communicating with the former President
during the NPP’s regime.
“Immediately NPP came to power I had to
cease talking to him, completely,” he stated.
DCOP Kofi Boakye reveled this on TV3’s Hot
Issue programme on Saturday.

well Nigeria is still the third fastest growing economy in the world after china and quatar even in the midst of the oil price drop. That's not the bone of contention anyway, the Ghana advertising agency isn't strong at all.
The last time I checked Nigeria was the continents leading producer of oil, been there for many decades now, but y'all still hold the unenviable title of the only country in Africa with polio, even failed states like Somalia has eradicated it, so please go ahead and be the scar on the conscience of the black race by celebrating paper economics achieved by oil drilling. grin

Daily Graphic:
The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has
begun to remove all Nigerian national election
campaign posters from vantage points in the
capital city.
Speaking to Graphic Online during the removal of
one such campaign posters near the Accra Mall,
the leader of the task force, Mr George Baba
Barikon, said they were acting on the orders of
National Security through the direction of the
AMA..
He said the task force under the advertising unit
of the AMA will be removing all sighted Nigerian
campaign posters in Accra .
Asked if the Accra Mayor knew about the
removal of the posters, he answered in the
affirmative.
When asked if this wouldn't compromise
diplomatic relationship between the two
countries, Mr Baba said he didn't know why the
National Security asked the AMA to remove it
and added that all queries should be directed to
National Security.
With Nigeria National elections due to begin next
month, many principal streets of Accra have
been inundated with campaign posters of
Presidential candidates of mainly the All
Progressive Congress (APC) and Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP ) political parties.

Foreign Affairs / Ghana Foils Attempt To Kill 'exiled' Gbagbo Followers by GHPATRIOT(m): 6:32pm On Dec 02, 2013
Ivory Coast sent hit squads to Ghana to
kill followers of former strongman
Laurent Gbagbo and paid Liberian
mercenaries not to stage cross-border
attacks for Gbagbo, a UN report said.
The Ghana government told United
Nations experts they had "foiled" at
least two missions this year by Ivory
Coast agents to kill or abduct Gbagbo
associates, said the report obtained by
AFP on Sunday
.
"The Ghanaian authorities claimed to
have foiled at least two such missions in
early 2013," said the report.
At least one former Gbagbo supporter,
who had returned to Ivory Coast, "had
been abducted and had disappeared," it
added.
According to the report, Payments were made to Liberian mercenaries and Ivory Coast militia commanders in a bid to head off attacks aimed at destabilising President Alassane Ouattara's government.
The report to the Security Council, by
experts who monitor UN sanctions
against Liberia, cast new light on efforts by Ouattara's government to blunt the threat from Gbagbo, whose refusal to concede defeat in a 2010 presidential election sparked unrest in which thousands died.
Gbagbo is now at the International
Criminal Court in The Hague facing
charges of crimes against humanity. But several cross-border attacks were
staged from Liberia in 2012 and the UNmission in Ivory Coast has said. several times that new incidents are possible.
The Ghanaian government told the UN experts in July that its neighbour had been sending Ivorian agents intending to assassinate or kidnap militant pro-Gbagbo refugees.
The experts said they had been unable
to "independently verify" the claims.
But they met several former Gbagbo
ministers in the Ghanaian capital, Accra, who said they wanted to return "but were afraid that they would be killed if they succeeded."
Gbagbo refused to accept the result of
the presidential election in late 2010. At least 3,000 people died in five months of unrest before he was captured in an operation backed by UN and French forces.
Ivory Coast was gripped by civil war for
much of the previous two decades.
Ouattara has embarked on
reconciliation efforts but has been urged to move faster and to clamp down on corruption.
Government payments

The UN experts said they had "gathered substantive information" concerning payments made from May this year by the Ivory Coast government to "key Liberian mercenaries." Two of the mercenary leaders were identified as Isaac Chegbo, who is also known as "Bob Marley" and Augustine "Bush Dog" Vleyee. Money was paid for "collecting
information from these individuals and
discouraging them from conducting
cross-border attacks," said the report.
It said the payments were made by the
Ivory Coast interior ministry's bureau of operational intelligence.
The mercenaries told the UN sanctions
experts they were taken to Abidjan to
receive money. One said he was given $
8,000 but others said they got as little as $2,000.
"Several of the mercenaries who had
received such payments complained that they had been promised substantially more money," the report said.
The mercenaries "alleged that additional financing had been misappropriated by Ivorian officials" and the Liberian intermediary.
The UN report said that while attacks
had diminished this year, the payments
were not a "sustainable" way of keeping
the lid on tensions in the country.
