Hi,please I need your help. I'm an Insurance marketer working with one of the biggest brand in Nigeria but in a small state where it's hard to get business. As you all know,marketers are only paid commission. I've not been able to get business since I started,I don't know if it's because of small economy drive of the state where I am or maybe they're some tips I ought to be using in getting business which I'm not getting right. I studied Accounting Education,I just got this job this year and a training was conducted for the newly recruited marketers. Please help me on how to be a good insurance marketer and get good businesses. Thanks

@phayvorr, why wait till u grad before you start CIIN, if u clear ur papers @ each level... In 18 months you are through with the program... I will implore you to go to CIIN office @ Lagos street, Ebute-metta to get adequate info. For the first stage (certificate in insurance), you will pay around 55k.

I'm currently studying insurance in UNILAG and will love to be a CIIN certificate holder after school. Please I need information on the processes and the cost and want to also know if I can start the professional course while I'm in school or I will have to get a BSc certificate first. Besides I hear there is an exemption for UNILAG students when they want to write the CIIN exam please is that true?

Please I will also like to do internship programme in any insurance company now that I'm on holiday just to have some basic knowledge and build myself practically. Will be happy if anyone can hook me up please.

Good thread! I've been longing to see insurance and ciin being discussed on nairaland......I studied insurance at Lagos state university and presently observing my nysc service year in Kebbi state. I will be writing the certificate level this April diet.
Anybody here with an idea of the cost of the registration, and also of it's possible to do the registration without coming down to lagos because I intend to apply for exemption with my b.sc certificate.
And also let's use this thread as a medium to help each other especially in respect of unadvertised vacancies in the industry,etc
@phayvorr ciin gives exemption to all graduate of insurance irrespective of being a graduate of unilag, lasu or even redeemer's university .

@APRIDE, how are u doing! Am an Associate of CIIN. Guess u re also Qualified. I wonder why people don't talk about CIIN on Nairaland... So far so good, if u want to grow and be relevant in the insurance industry, you just have to pass through CIIN... I am readily available for any one that needs information on Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN).

@ NL, I just confirm that ICAN have extend the registration date but no details on change in the exam timetable.

@Sashafm, pls go to WsYE Tution Centre @ Maryland, They have customised study Pack in line with d new syllabus. I wish u best of luck.

@ OP, its never late to follow your dream. I all depend on d aspect of Engineering you have passion. Information Technology is a good area of specialization, you can go into Networking though having CCNA, CCNP will be an edge. I have a friend that read Economics @ d University back then, he now work with one of the top banks in nigeria as a Network Engineer. Just try to get a mentor in that field that can guide you bro.An Msc in Info Tech or ICT is not a bad idea too, but the Certifications and on the job training is a faster route. Remain blessed.
