To appreciate the importance of bagging one of the worlds best goalkeepers, you need look no further than last summer’s transfer business in the Premier League.

The world record fee for a shot-stopper was smashed not once but twice, firstly by Liverpool for Alisson and then by Chelsea with their £72m swoop for Kepa Arrizabalaga.

It s often said that having a reliable man between the sticks will win you several points every season, and the following players are good examples of just that.

10. MANUEL NEUER (BAYERN MUNICH)

Neuer could soon climb his way back to the top of this list, but the last two seasons have been plagued by injury and he endured a horrendous World Cup upon his comeback last summer. Germany were knocked out in the group stage, losing 2-0 to South Korea after Neuer ventured upfield chasing an unlikely leveller, but succeeded only in giving away possession for the killer strike.

He was back in a Bayern shirt last season and skippered the Bavarians to the Bundesliga title before frustratingly ending the campaign back on the treatment table. The 33-year-old - not to mention the Munich faithful - will be hoping 2019/20 is the year he returns to top form.

9. KEPA ARRIZABALAGA (CHELSEA)

Before last summer, Kepa wasn’t known by many fans outside of Spain. Since then, the 23-year-old has made his way into the history books by becoming the world’s most expensive goalkeeper following his £71.6m move to Chelsea from Athletic Bilbao.

The Spaniard adjusted well to life in England, missing just two Premier League appearances in 2018/19 under Maurizio Sarri and keeping 14 clean sheets.

He did, however, refuse to be substituted ahead of the Carabao Cup final penalty shoot-out against Manchester City, which didn’t exactly make him universally popular. Chelsea lost 4-3, although to his credit, Kepa did at least save one.

8. SAMIR HANDANOVIC (INTER MILAN)

For the best part of a decade, Handanovic spent his Serie A career in the shadow of Gianluigi Buffon. Frankly, though, he was quite happy to stay there; unfussily getting on with his job and demonstrating the quiet consistency that has earned him so many admirers in Italy.

The Inter shot-stopper has been ever-reliable while those around him haven’t, and aged 35 has somehow seemed to get better with each season. The Slovenian is proof that you can teach an old dog new tricks, too: under Luciano Spalletti, Inter’s more patient build-up play forced Handanovic to adjust his game accordingly.

He retired from international duty in 2015 to wave through Atletico Madrid’s brilliant Jan Oblak, but remains essential to the club he now captains and has a contract at San Siro through to 2021 that will see him lead Inter into the Antonio Conte era.

7. HUGO LLORIS (TOTTENHAM)

His kicking will always be a stick to beat him with, but Tottenham fans are glad they have Hugo Lloris between the sticks more often than not.

The Frenchman’s ability to pull off breathtaking saves is among the best in the Premier League, and he remains a huge asset to his manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Lloris still has his moments, as he proved with that bizarre balls-up in the World Cup final against Croatia last summer, but the Bleusskipper was magnificent throughout that tournament and followed that up by leading Spurs to their first ever Champions League final.

This wedding took place between former President Jonathan’s daughter and her then-boyfriend Godswill Osim Edward. Although this is not the first wedding involving an incumbent president’s daughter, it is the most expensive.

The Leadership of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) has launched an investigation into the killing of Senatorial candidate of the Action Alliance in Imo North senatorial district Ndubuisi Emenike.

The Director of Public Health, Enugu State, Dr. Boniface Okolo, has cautioned Nigerians against the consumption of soaked garri to avoid contacting Lassa fever.

Okolo, who gave the warning in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Saturday in Enugu, said the rats that cause the disease were mostly in contact with Nigeria’s most popular staple food, garri, a cassava product.

He is also Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), he is a pastor and he is the number two citizen of the federal republic of Nigeria. He runs the show whenever the president is not around.

3. Bola Ahmed Tinubu: Tinubu is not just a politician but is the Ronaldo and Messi of the Nigerian politics, no wonder he has been nicknamed the Jagaban, he is the master chess player in the Nigerian politics. He is a Kingmaker, a president maker and he has installed and removed so many politicians through his dogged tactics. He is an ex-governor of Lagos State and an ex-senator of the federal republic of Nigeria. He has so much influence, power, wealth and significance. Let's just say he runs the show.



4. Olusegun Obasanjo: Olusegun Obasanjo was an ex-military head of state, a former general and an ex civilian president of the federal republic of Nigeria. He has so much influence that he is well respected throughout Africa and the world in general. Obasanjo is a politician, an author, a political mathematician and a kingmaker. He is that one person that they call when African International politics is at stake.

Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari on Friday, said Nigerians should not continue going abroad for medical treatment. “Nigerians have suffered so much going abroad for medical treatment. This is not good for us and it must stop, because we can’t afford it again,” he said. The President, who himself had travelled to the United Kingdom for treatment on several occasions, stated this at the Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki, during the inauguration and handover of completed projects to the management of the hospital. He explained that the project was executed to check flooding and gully erosion in the hospital. The President, who was represented at the event by the Minister of Science and Technology, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, lamented the devastating effects of flooding in the South-East geo-political zone, saying the intervention project would bring relief to the hospital, the state and its neighbours. The Police in Ekiti State on Friday arrested three herdsmen who allegedly mounted a roadblock along Usho Road in Ise Ekiti in the Ise/Orun Council Area of the state. Sources alleged that five herdsmen mounted the roadblock around 10am with the intention to rob road users and community members of their valuables. According to them, on sighting the herdsmen, who allegedly barricaded the road, some members of the community alerted the police, who in turn, rushed to the place to save the situation. A police source said, “Information reached the police at 10.15am that five herdsmen mounted roadblock along Usho Road in Ise Ekiti terrorising the road users with weapons such as daggers and cutlasses. “A police patrol team swung into action and arrested two of them, Usman Ibrahim and Ali Salisu on the spot while the remaining three fled into the bush. “Upon combing the bush for the fleeing suspects, another suspect, named Sidikia Manbagri, was arrested. Our men are still in the bush to find the remaining two suspects.” The Commissioner of Police in Ekiti State, Mr Asuquo Amba, who confirmed the development, said, “It is true. The US embassy in Baghdad on Friday urged all American citizens currently in Iraq to depart immediately following the killing of top Iranian commander General Qassem Soleimani. “US citizens should depart via airline while possible, and failing that, to other countries via land,” the embassy said in a statement.
