He has given his entire life and career to serving Nigeria’s least privileged at the grass roots level and demonstrated a readiness to lay his life on the line to ensure that national well-being, backed by good governance is established in Nigeria.

Speaking on the choice of Dr Rufai, AAC Presidential Candidate, Omoyele Sowore said, “in our bid to work on Nigeria’s multifaceted challenges and proffer solutions that will create a true giant out of our nation, we have always believed that health care, population health and health economics, ranks alongside national security and power, as critical areas that a serious government must address. I can think of no one more qualified than Dr Rufai to spear head that aspect of our agenda. Health is Wealth – and in our government, Dr Rufai will be responsible for ensuring that Nigerians have access to affordable and world class healthcare and translating that to economic growth.”

All supporters of the Take it Back movement and our great party, the African Action Congress will be excited by Dr Rufai’s choice. In surveys, our members and supporters called for a Northern Vice-Presidential candidate, with integrity and an unbridled passion for national unity. Dr Rufai embodies all those qualities. We worked hard to find within one individual the many traits you told us were important and we are confident that Nigerians will find in Dr Rufai a man of integrity, intelligence and devotion to a nation that urgently needs our help.

We present to you our running mate and Nigeria’s next vice president, Dr. Rabiu Ahmed Rufai: exactly what the doctor ordered.

Politics / Sowore & The Takeitback Movement Condemn Invasion Of National by gididreams: 5:44pm On Aug 07, 2018
SOWORE AND THE TAKEITBACK MOVEMENT CONDEMN INVASION OF NATIONAL ASSEMBLY

TakeItBack Movement unequivocally condemns the intrusion of military and para-military forces into our body politics.

The Nigerian people deserve to know why an occupation force is currently camped at the National Assembly.

We urge all political actors to desist from acts and actions that will jeopardize our hard-won democracy.

Nigeria is bigger than the APC or PDP, which we both believe to be two-sides of the same bad coin.

We urge President Buhari to call his forces to order from his medical vacation in London.

The TakeItBack Movement wishes to make it clear that we stand ready to protect our fledgling democratic process not just with words, but also with principled action.

Nigeria MUST progress!

Politics / PICTURES: Omoyele Sowore Continues Talks In Abuja With Leading Youth Aspirants by gididreams: 5:31pm On Jul 31, 2018
Omoyele Sowore, Presidential Aspirant Continues Talks in Abuja with Leading Youth Candidates

Emerging from what he deemed to be a progressive, productive meeting today, the convener of the Take it Back Movement, Omoyele Sowore, stated that Nigerians problems are not insurmountable, merely being handled by bad leadership.

The meeting, according to him, was to see how the younger candidates could unite in the struggle to free Nigeria from the old guards who are intent on holding her hostage. Sowore made it clear that his programme for youth is covered in his comprehensive agenda with the acronym SPICER HEAT – Security, Power, Infrastructure, Corruption, Economy, Restructuring, Health, Education, Agriculture and Tourism.

The focus of this agenda is to provide employment and offer young people the independence they need to thrive.

The freedom fighter stressed the need for justice, stating that the cabals cannot give the equity, the honesty or the transparency that they do simply not have.

Politics / Omoyele Sowore And Takeitback Movement’s Position On The Senate by gididreams: 5:48pm On Jul 27, 2018
Sowore & TakeItBack Movement’s Position on the Senate

It has come to our notice that a malicious spin on comments made at a townhall meeting has been making the rounds.

Ibrahim Shuaibu of THISDAYLIVE claims that the presidential aspirant, Omoyele Sowore, has pledged to scrap the Senate once elected as president of Nigeria.

This is an outright falsehood and spin on what was said.

Sowore has always made it clear that he believes the National Assembly as currently constituted is a financial and moral drain on Nigeria.

However, we believe that what is needed to make Nigeria and is institutions work, is to have the right people and true patriots in office.

This is why Omoyele Sowore is running for the Presidency and why hundreds of our members have already indicated an interest in running for office in 2019, including to the Nigerian Senate.

It is unconstitutional to disband the Senate; such an action would require a complete rewrite of the Constitution of the Republic of Nigeria.

Indeed, when working at full efficacy, a Senate is a crucial part of a democratic system and provides important legislative and oversight functions.

Sowore’s disappointment with the current Senate as it stands - a den more concerned with neck braces and wholesale embezzlement of the Nigerian economy than it is with progressive and productive government - is one that many Nigerians share.

Expressing dissatisfaction with the way our country is governed and the endless call for justice for the Nigerian people is something that Omoyele Sowore has passionately engaged in since 1993 and will continue to do until we see real transformation in Nigeria.

Politics / A Perspective: Presidential Aspirant Omoyele Sowore's Town Hall Meetings by gididreams: 6:28pm On Jul 18, 2018
A Perspective: Presidential Aspirant Omoyele Sowore's Town Hall Meetings by gididreams

The mood, the air, the ambiance or what you decide to call it, is certainly abuzz in Nigeria, as events heat up in time for the National Elections on 16 February 2019. Notably, these elections are like no other in that there are more young entries into the political sphere vying for the top position. One of such persons is Omoyele Sowore, CEO of Sahara Reporters, who comes with antecedents of student activism, as well as journalistic activism.

If like me you have been following his progress towards the elections, there is no doubt that you are amazed at his energy, tenacity and daring ambition. I call it DARING because he has no godfathers or godmothers, he is not the son of a politician, nor is he the protege of a minister, neither is he an Oil & Gas businessman - so, where will he get the means to fund such a significant election? Afterall, we were informed by the Media yesterday that the present government will be spending N242. Billion for their 2019 re-election campaign. What some might consider a deficiency in that Sowore does not have the financial means, he has to his ADVANTAGE, as part of his armory, STRATEGIES, IDEAS and very many volunteers that are DETERMINED to take our country back!

Note: The monies needed to run Sowore's campaign is being raised internationally on 'GO FUND ME' (here's the link https://uk.gofundme.com/sowore2019) and in Nigeria (contributions are made into Zenith Bank Account Number: 1006023871). These funds are being raised transparently using these mediums.

As far as I have observed, there have been no other aspirants that have conducted more Town Hall Meetings, TV Interviews, Radio Interviews etc. as compared to Sowore. In fact, last time I counted, which was circa 2 months ago, Sowore had carried out over 100 Meetings/Interviews. I mean, how many politicians commit themselves in that way? Very few do and the reason is that they do not want to get caught out - it is increasingly difficult to lie and say you did not say you would deliver on a promise if there is no evidence to hold you accountable. This should convince you about Sowore's honest intentions, as each time he has these Meetings/Interviews, he is committing and re-committing himself to his promises! Consequentially, he is indicting himself! I will go a step farther to suggest that he is either on the other side of crazy or clearly he is CONFIDENT that he knows how to set Nigeria on the path to Peace, Progress and Prosperity aka GREATNESS!

I have read many people's reservations or hesitations about Sowore's suitability and they go like this: 'he should start at councillor or local chairman level' or 'what does he know about governance?' or 'does he think that running a website is the same as running a country?' or most recently 'Sowo gini?'. I know that these people have clearly not listened to Sowore, so they ask these questions without knowing that he has well-articulated plans and structures of how to move the country forward.

For me, there are three MAJOR reasons why I have given Sowore my support and I am doing all that is in my power to see him elected into Office. They are:

Firstly, Nigerians would have voted in someone with ideas.

Secondly, we the Nigerian people that have donated funds via 'Go Fund Me' or 'Zenith Bank' are the MAJOR stakeholders, which means Sowore is answerable to us!

And thirdly, this is the most important, is that the Nigerian people will truly understand the power of their vote - POWER is returned back to the people. This would mean that anyone going for Public Office in the future would realise that they can be voted in and voted out! This means that if a Public Servant performs well, the people will re-elect him/her back into Office and if he/she fails to perform, they will be voted out to return back what they were doing before they ran for Office. That my friends is how democracies work.

Please abandon, imprison and neglect your doubts. We can do this, we can upset the political space by voting out the cabals and overhauling the current political system. Together we can do this! We can have a Nigeria where our VOTE COUNTS!!!

Below are some of the Town Hall Meetings that Sowore has conducted. I believe that Sowore wants to be remembered for greatness in history, so long after he is gone, world history books will remember him as one who dared, was audacious enough, one who inspired and one who orchestrated changes in Nigeria, as an environment that enables people to succeed. On the other hand, our history books will not be so kind to those who used and abused Nigeria for self-aggrandisement.

Politics / Omoyele Sowore's Takeitback Movement On Ekiti Election Suspicious Practices by gididreams: 5:46pm On Jul 15, 2018
TAKEITBACK MOVEMENT ON EKITI ELECTIONS: APC AND PDP’S SHAMEFUL CONDUCT IN EKITI CONFIRM THEY ARE TWO SIDES OF THE SAME BAD COIN

We salute the great people of Ekiti State for their peaceful conduct during the recent gubernatorial elections. We must also commend INEC for their conduction of the elections and for the timely release of the election results.

Despite the shameful behaviour of both the APC and PDP with their obscene and open attempts to purchase votes, as well as the high-handed conduct of the security forces, the people of Ekiti still had their say, peacefully, at the ballot box.

We wish to note that ultimately, the true winner of the Ekiti elections is the Nigerian people, who have demonstrated that they will continue to reject the lie that they have no options than to select one or the other of the APC or the PDP.

Of the 909,585 registered voters in Ekiti, 667,270 (73.3%) have collected their PVCs. Despite this significant number of voters with PVCs, only 178,121 votes were cast for the PDP (19.6%), while 197,459 were cast for the APC (21.7%). This implies that almost 58.7% of the Ekiti electorate chose not to be a part of the sham political process.

Our Movement believes that this refusal to vote for either the APC or PDP, is further evidence that Nigerians are seeking an alternative progressive platform that will offer credible options to the corrupt, status quo political class.

In February 2019, the great people of Ekiti, and indeed all Nigerians, will have an opportunity to vote in an election in which the TakeitBack Movement will present candidates of proven integrity and competence, for every office, from the Presidency through to Local Council Elections.

We ask all Nigerians desirous of true transformation to join our movement by engaging with us on www.sowore2019.org.

Nigerian MUST progress!

Politics / Voting Power: Analysis Of Ekiti State Election by gididreams: 10:57am On Jul 15, 2018
Analysis of Ekiti State Election by gididreams

Registered voters = 900,000+

Voters that collected PVCs = 600,000+

Total votes cast on election = 316,000+

Outstanding votes = 300,000+

Where were the 300,000+ voters? Did they disappear into thin air These 300,000+ voters that had their PVCs could have toppled Fayemi/Fayose cabal, considering Fayemi won by 197,000+ votes.

If you ever were in doubt that your vote counts, it does. Those 300,000 voters that didn’t show up could have made a difference, even if I have faith to believe that there are people with integrity who would not sell their vote.

So to those of you that collected N2K, N3K, N4K, N5K & N7K - how long will that last you? Just remember that you are going to endure another 4 years of no improvement and continued impoverishment!

Politics / The Phenomenon Of 'SEE AND BUY' In Ekiti State Election by gididreams: 8:35am On Jul 15, 2018
By Abdul Mahmud

The monetization of our politics is now complete.

Vote buying has always been with us, but "trading on the floor of the political stock market" ( as my friend and oga, Richard Akinnola II laconically puts it) reduced when the democratic process was supplanted by ballot snatching. Citizens vote didn't matter, so politicians resorted to snatching ballots and stuffing them with fake ballot papers. Now, the successive electoral reforms embarked upon since 2007 have made ballot snatching unfashionable and our politicians - both of the so-called conservative and progressive ilk- have returned to the bad old way.

They returned to the old way in Edo state in 2016 and shortly after in Ondo state; and a few months ago in Anambra state.

Today, in Ekiti state, the three-syllabic phrase, "See and Buy", has been added to our political lexicon.

What's this "see and buy"?

Append your inked thumb to the ballot, step outside the polling unit and show the political stock broker (read candidate's agent) the inked ballot and collect your N2k, N3k or N5k, then return to the polling unit and drop your ballot in the box.

Politicians have ways of subverting electoral reforms with state resources and we have seen this subversion in the states listed above and seeing it in Ekiti today. The monies used to bribe voters today are obviously stolen from the coffers of the state and subnational state.

PDP and APC una do'oh!

How market?

Meanwhile, trading has closed on "the floor of the political stock market", we wait for news on the losers and winner.

Was the market bearish or bullish today?

Nigeria, the oracle hails thee!

Politics / Charly Boy's Message To Ekiti Voters by gididreams: 3:56pm On Jul 13, 2018
By Charly Boy

Dear Ekiti People,

The day we have all been waiting for is almost here. In less than 24hours from now, you will be going to the polling booth nearest to you to exercise your franchise. As a responsible Ekiti person who cares about the development of Ekiti, you will be expected to carry out your civic responsibility without favors or compromise.

It is important to note that this election will fundamentally serve as a litmus test for subsequent elections that will lead up to 2019. The general attitude of the Ekiti people in this election and the general conduct of the electoral umpire; INEC, Political parties, politicians, and the security agencies will be decisively indicative of what the world should expect from Nigeria in 2019.

As responsible people of Ekiti with a renowned history of an astral hallmark in education, we urge you to act as a beacon of light to the millions of Nigerians who are closely watching your attitude to tomorrow's governorship election by demonstrating unmatched integrity and firm conviction in what is right. We urge you to be peaceful and vote for the candidate in whom you are strongly convinced of his capacity, character, and competence, only. We urge you to shun every politician or political party that offers you money to influence your ballot; they are the real enemies of democracy and good governance.

Remember, however, that if you wish to sell your vote, you must insist on 864,000Naira as the cost of selling your vote. This is because the minimum wage in Nigeria today is 18,000Naira, and when you multiply 18,000Naira by 48months which is the total number of months that constitute a single tenure of a governor, you will arrive at 864,000Naira. You must bear in mind that any politician or political party that gives you less than 864,000Naira to influence your ballot is simply trying to shortchange you, and you must ignore them. If you cannot get 864,000Naira as the cost of selling your vote, then do not sell your vote at all. Rather, look for a candidate that has the capacity, competence, and character of serving you well and making Ekiti State better for everyone.

Important to note, also, that the OurMumuDonDo Movement is strongly hoping that the intimidating presence of security forces in Ekiti State will drastically reduce the excesses of political parties and candidates and not be used to subvert the electoral process.

Finally, the OurMumuDonDo Movement wishes to remind all stakeholders involved in tomorrow's gubernatorial election that Nigerians are watching, and the world is watching very keenly, too. The electoral umpire; INEC, the NPF, the Nigerian Army, all paramilitary agencies, and all election observers (local and international) must ensure that tomorrow's election in Ekiti is free, fair, and credible.

Our Mumu Don Do.

Politics / Rate Buhari's Performance As President: Pass Or Fail? by gididreams: 8:46pm On Jul 12, 2018
By Kalu Aja

I do wonder sometimes why people vote for a candidate.....based on ideology? or tribe and religion?

For instance, why would anyone vote for Buhari in 2019? I ask a serious question.

Buhari has not created a single net job since he became President

Buhari has not built a clinic or hospital for the general public since he became President

Buhari has not built a school for the general public since he became President

Buhari has not protected Nigerians from internal attacks since he became President...every week there is a new incident of mass killings....from Zamfara to Ebonyi to Plateau to Kaduna to Adamawa.. people killed.

Buhari has not prosecuted any close friend, associate or party funder for corruption since he became President....Babachair walks about free.....Buhari own finance Minister is accused of forgery....a crime.

So what is the rationale for voting for Buhari a second term?

Please i am asking a serious question ....perhaps I am ignorant of something....I want to be educated.

I am not asking why you voted for him in 2015, I appreciate the reason back then...why are you voting for him today?

If they pay you $1m and your village is razed and everyone killed, is that a good price?

if you collect rice and your son is sacked from work, is that a good price?

if Buhari is from your State and your new baby dies because the hospital has no power and incubators, is that a good price?

Please, I would appreciate a true supporter of Buhari to tell me what I have missed...is the 2018 economy better than 2015 economy? is security better?

I am here to listen....

Politics / Omoyele Sowore’s Takeitback Movement's Position On Political Parties Merger by gididreams: 4:37pm On Jul 11, 2018
Sowore’s TakeItBack Movement – Our Position on the Merger of Political Parties

Earlier this week, 39 political parties and movements led by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the Reformed – All Progressives Congress (R-APC) announced the formation of a Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) to wrest power from the Buhari-led APC in 2019.

From the outset, the TakeItBack Movement has made it clear that what we seek is a complete transformation of the Nigerian political process. The solution to Nigeria’s problems cannot be found with the same parties and persons who created and contributed to those challenges in the first place.

The PDP and the APC (or the R-APC) are two sides of the same bad coin. For almost two decades, these two parties have been responsible for unbridled corruption and rapacious damage to Nigeria’s economy and her moral fabric. The solution to Nigeria’s challenges cannot be found with any of these parties, or in any coalition of the desperate, that they put together.

The TakeitBack Movement and our convener, Omoyele Sowore, cannot and will never be part of any coalition that includes these corrupt and morally bankrupt parties. We are NOT so desperate to win that we would sacrifice our integrity, or the trust of the Nigerian people.

The path of honour and integrity is a long, arduous and sometimes lonely one. We believe there are no shortcuts to progress. We are committed to towing the path of honour – however lonely and challenging that path might be. We are convinced that the Nigerian people are not seeking to replace one set of thieves with another set of recycled rogues in 2019.

The TakeitBack movement remains committed to working with progressive, people-oriented parties that are dedicated to the transformation and the progress of the Nigerian nation.
At the end of this month, we will be announcing the political party that the TakeitBack Movement will be using as a platform for the 2019 elections, as well as the members of our coalition of progressive parties and organisations.

We urge Nigerians to remain vigilant. Nigeria MUST progress!!

Politics / Overhaul The Current Political Cabals And Fight For An Improved Political System by gididreams: 4:25pm On Jul 11, 2018
THOUGHT PROVOKING
BE STIRRED!!!

Throughout yesterday evening, after "moving" from Aljazeera to CNN and later settled for BBC, I just wasn't myself. I was sad and shaken. I saw the Prime Minister of UK drilled in the House of Common. I watched Theresa May talk for over three hours, answering questions from all angles. I watched the country's parliament take the number one citizen to the cleaners. I watched Jeremy Corbyn tear into pieces the UK cabinet and almost rubbished the effort on the Brexit deal. I saw how Brexit was dissected and discussed for hours. I saw the Wimbledon representative almost crying while defending his constituents.

I watched how the Parliament argued with the Prime Minister on single market and custom union. Brexit would show the sovereignty of the UK. No European Courts would lord over the laws of Great Britain. Discussions on Northern Ireland was serious. Protection of jobs. Stoppage of billions of pounds to the EU. No free movements into UK.

This is not my destination!

Earlier before Boris Johnson's resignation came like wildfire, four other boys trapped in a cave in Thailand had been rescued, totalling eight in two days. For over two weeks, 12 teen footballers and their coach got trapped in a cave. And for the past 15 days, the Thai government took to action. They didn't blame the kids and their coach for going deep into a cave to have fun. They didn't shift the blame on their parents for allowing them. They didn't consider their tribe or ethnic nationalities. No mention of their religion.

Navy SEALS were brought in. The Police. The Airforce. Helicopters. Foreign cave professionals. UK dive experts. Medical personnels. Psychologists. Food and water supply were made after staying without food for 10days. A diver lost his life in the process. And after concerted efforts, eight of the thirteen trapped humans have been rescued alive.

Guess what! They were airlifted to the nearest hospital in Chiang Rai. Unstable and malnourished, they are now being seriously attended to with the doctors confirming their responses to treatments.

What message do you think the Thai government is passing across here? That the lives of ALL Thai matter. That their government is responsible for their safety and security. That the well-being and welfare of ONE Thai is sacrosanct. That a single Thai is the responsibility of the government and shall not be left to suffer.

What do you think the rescued Thais would think about their country and government? What do you think their parents would say about their land? Do you think Thais would be scared of living in their country? Do you think they would ever think of running away from their country? Do you think they would regard other country about protection of lives than theirs? Do you think they would believe other country's government can protect them like theirs?

While Adamawa and Taraba states are burning and countless dead bodies litter the streets of Numan, 30,000 policemen, a DIG, four AIGs, 6helicopters, 1,000 DSS officers and military formations are being deployed to Ekiti State just to "politically capture" the Fountain of Knowledge.

We won't be alright. Not yet. Not now.

Nairaland / General / SHOCKING: Only 350 People Owe N4.3 Trillion Of Banking Debt In Nigeria by gididreams: 5:59am On Jun 29, 2018
By Pius Adesanmi

It is a pity that the bloodshed in the land is masking other issues that should get you thinking seriously about Nigeria. Many of you may have missed all the back and forth about AMCON's debt portfolio and what it means for you.

In Lamidi, the "forganaisa's" language, here is what AMCON is saying:

1. Only 350 Nigerians are responsible for 80% of AMCON's N5.4 trillion debt portfolio. Do you understand? 350 Nigerians owe N4.3 trillion.

2. There is more. In a country of 180 - 200 million people, only 100 BVNs own 60% of bank lendings. Let that also sink in. 60% of bank loans in Nigeria goes to 100 people.

When I mentioned Ben Murray-Bruce's AMCON debt recently, one oppressed idiot in the habit of defending his oppressors attacked me and asked when it has become a crime to take a loan to finance one's business?

I ignored him because he is stupid. In Nigeria, high- stakes bank loans are part of the architecture of corruption and crime. You do understand that bankers collude with less than 500 Nigerians for these loans that are going to be delinquent right?

When you enter into the category of those who borrow in billions in Nigeria, the understanding is that you are not going to pay. It will become a bad debt. You and the bankers will cash in and you don't have to worry about the politicians: you bankrolled their election. The Nigerian financial sector is thus a comprehensive crime scene.

You do understand that Lamidi, my forga, will never get a loan but his small deposit of N500 per month is part of what these 500 Nigerians are stealing disguised as loans, right?

You do understand that Forga's only hope is that these 500 people and their friends in government will periodically grow a conscience and "empower" him with a new Yamaha pumping machine and N10,000 in cash under some small scale enterprises empowerment scheme launched with fanfare by the wife of the state Governor, right?

You do understand that within the ranks of the 350 Nigerians owing 80% of AMCON's debt portfolio and the 100 BVNs controlling 60% of bank lending in Nigeria, there is no PDP, no APC, no Hausa, no Fulani, no Igbo, No Yoruba, no Ijaw, no Christian, no Muslim, right?

You do understand why you should close ranks at the bottom of the ladder and stop fighting and tearing at each other on account of these chaps, right.

You do understand why I listen to Bob Marley's "Real Situation" a lot these days, right?

Total destruction
Is the only solution...

A new Nigeria must grow on the ashes of this ugly, unjust, and malevolent contraption owned by 500 people.

Politics / The True Value Of Election Day Money by gididreams: 11:26am On Jun 18, 2018
Vote with Your Conscience, not Your Appetite!

Copied

What is the real value of the money you receive on Election Day, in order to cast your vote for a Candidate?

Note: that the money you receive is all you will be paid in the 4 years the Candidate will be in office. He has paid you in advance for 4 years service.

1. 365 days x 4 years = 1460 days.

N1000➗1460 = 68 kobo per day. That is the value of the vote you sold, over 4 years.

2. You receive N500.
500 ➗1460 = 34 kobo per day

3. You receive N200 to vote
200 ➗1460 = 13 kobo per day

The question is how much do you value yourself? Is that what you are worth? They have bought your silence so that they and their children can live well. Can you live on 13 kobo per day or even 68 kobo per day? TomTom sweet is N10 think twice before you decide. God bless Nigeria.

Politics / Our Destiny Is In Our Hands: Tell Everyone Hope Is On The Way by gididreams: 1:02pm On Jun 16, 2018
I feel very sad when I hear young Nigerians say they have given up on Nigeria. However, it is so understandable why they have lost hope in the country, given the myriad of attacks they have been made to face by clueless and wicked leaders. I have said it before that so many young people in Nigeria have passports of other Countries in their minds. They have left the country psychologically.

Why won’t they lose hope?!

The Nigerian youth hears about trillions spent on power but he cannot find his shadow.

He reads that Obasanjo spent 16 billion dollars on darkness and Buhari spent 10 billion looking for oil in the North-East. While one; a subset of the ruling class is asking “Where is the power?”, another is asking “Where is the oil?” He knows that for the ruling class, there would never be any consequence for doing wrong. He knows!

He reads on the pages of newspapers how they are recruiting in CBN, only to find out that he is not ’employable’. The ’employables’ are sons of the elite. He was the one who struggled to go to school, thinking he would be educated as a mechanical engineer and therefore employable, only to find out that the equipment in the laboratories are to be pampered, for a lot of them are older than he.

His sister just died as a result of the protracted industrial action of JOHESU. But he also knew of the time when Yusuf Buhari sustained injuries while playing with his friends and was flown to Germany. He has also read how the Aso Rock Clinic, according to the wife of the President, does not have syringes despite the whopping sum of 10.1 billion naira allocated to it in the 3 YEARS OF DEMOCRATIC INTEGRITY. He has asked himself- ‘If the Aso Rock Clinic could be like that, what then is the fate of my relatives and other Nigerians going to LUTH?’

Just last week, his brother was picked by kidnappers-in-uniform because he looks ‘fresh’ and uses an iPhone. He was implicated and sent to prison because he was not ready to ‘bail’ himself. Bail for no offence! He and his family could make an academic paper and deliver an ‘inaugural lecture’ on Police Brutality.

Do not forget that his father is a pensioner but the agents of Maina have made him a ‘penury-er’. And when his uncle and aunt left for Libya and Italy respectively, it was Thanksgiving.

He has been polarised totally from good governance.

His hitherto gentle soul has found succor and peace in drugs and bets.

In all of this, the good news is that all hope is not lost.

Why?

I would not want to go far to show examples of countries where citizens challenged the status quo; nations like Russia, China, USA were very backward than Nigeria. I had shared before, on this platform, a letter written by Great Britain to Nigeria, calling our leaders to a meeting to help the UK. Yes! This same country! Nothing has changed but the quality of leaders emboldened by the relative silence and acquiescence of the followers.

How Can Nigeria Help Britain

The citizens of the aforementioned nations saw the need not to give up and keep complaining. They stood and fought gallantly for the ‘little’ they are enjoying today.

In South Africa, the political activist, Nelson Mandela, was thrown into one of the deadliest prisons for 27 years. Most of us who have given up already are not yet 27 years old.

We have a chance to change the course of history. I am not in the illusion that what would change Nigeria and the society is the Ballot. There is no such thing as a BALLOT REVOLUTION. The only revolution known in history to the best of my knowledge is the SOCIAL REVOLUTION – Cultural/Political.

We must, nevertheless, within this space, explore the electoral means and other means provided by the law as we forge ahead for the greater struggle.

Why not go out today to register for your PVC? Tell your Dad to tell your Mum that hope is on the way. We only can change our destiny because it is in our hands.
