The Kwara State Government has prohibited all forms of commercial transportation within the state in order to curb the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

This was disclosed after the COVID-19 Technical Committee, headed by the Deputy Governor, Kayode Alabi, met on Wednesday.



Mr Alabi addressed journalists in Ilorin, the state capital, afterwards.

The development was also confirmed by Rafiu Ajakaiye, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
He told GIDITRENDZ that the state government has ordered the ban of commercial transportation, closure of all mosques and churches, and markets of non-essential commodities.

“The committee has agreed that markets where they are not selling drugs, food and other essential commodities should be closed.”

The state government had earlier banned gatherings of more than 25 persons.

The governor had also declared that all civil servants in the state are to work from their homes starting from Monday.
Although the state has not recorded any Covid-19 case since its outbreak in February, Mr AbdulRazaq said the government has built an isolation centre to contain any suspected case.

As of Wednesday evening, there are 46 confirmed cases in Nigeria. Lagos State has the highest number with 30 cases.

Apple expects to start reopening its retail stores in the first half of April, says a new report.



Apple had recently closed all of its stores outside of China until further notice to protect staff and customers during the coronavirus outbreak.

Apple is also reportedly extending its remote work policy for employees until at least April 5.

Apple is expected to gradually begin opening its retail stores again in the first half of April, according to an internal memo obtained by Giditrendz.

The company recently closed all retail stores outside of China for an unspecified period of time as part of an effort to protect its employees and customers during the coronavirus pandemic. That decision came after Apple had initially said it would close stores until March 27.

The internal memo, which Giditrendz said was written by Apple Retail and People SVP Deirdre O’Brien, revealed that the company would begin re-opening its nearly 500 retail stores around the world next month on a staggered basis. And it also revealed that it would extend flexible work arrangements for retail employees who did not need to be onsite through at least April 5, according to the Giditrendz report.

Apple did not immediately respond to Business Insider’s request for comment.

Store closures and a shift to remote work arrangements are just two of the ways in which the coronavirus outbreak has impacted Apple’s business and operations.

The company also recently canceled the physical version of its Worldwide Developers Conference, one of its biggest events of the year that usually takes place in June.

The Kwara State Stadium Complex, Ilorin has been shut down temporarily in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

According to the statement made available to this medium through the management of Kwara State stadium, all facilities would be closed to all sporting activities including weddings and religious programmes.
In his statement: The State Director of Sports, Coach Tunde Kazeem said the decision was taken as a precautionary step to prevent the gathering of people and in essence stop the spread of Coronavirus.
He then advised the people of Kwara State to abide by the safety procedures highlighted by the State and the Federal Governments for the Nation to get over Coronavirus.

Following the global attack by coronavirus, few hours after Zimbabwe announced its first COVID-19 case, a video of police officers whipping church worshipers and disrupting the religious gathering has gone viral.

Video has surfaced online, showing the moment some Zimbabwean Police officers stormed a church, flogging church members and their pastors for refusing to obey stay at home order of the government amid coronavirus pandemic.

The members were seen running helter-skelter as police officers whips them.


Victor Asemota who shared the Video wrote;

” A video which is claimed to be of Police in Zimbabawe dealing with a church congregation who refused to stay at home and held a church service against govt advisory.”
