Religion / Why Do Christians Say Do Not Judge But Always Judge Xtians & Non-xtians Alike? by Gidtruth: 10:26am On Feb 11, 2011
Hello Hisservant is it not the same bible that says thou should not judge or who are you to judge another man's servant. To me pastor Chris is never a fraudster

I culled the above quote from a poster called 'lender' from the thread " Why is Pastor Chris a Fraud". Not wanting to derail the thread i decided to make this one.

So why say judge not another mans servant and yet don't Christians judge when they will not invite an imam or Guru maraji priest to come and minister during a service, why would a pentecostal christian not freely worship in a catholic church and yet that is not judgment?

How is it that Deeper Life campus fellowship don't join other Christians groups for fellowship without judging them unworthy of such fellowship?

And how do you become a Christian without judging the story and it's carriers as plausible?

Got this comment from 234next site on this issue. I think someone need to get the full transcript of Clinton's speech in Abuja to verify this

Posted by olukunle on Oct 17 2010

@Donita Brown: In the same Clinto speech you say was thoroughly fact-checked, Clinton stated that Dr Azikiwe was greatly influenced by Dr Martin Luther King, Jr. At the time Zik wrote his forst book, Liberia in World Politics, Dr King would have still been in his diapers at best. In a journalistic context, that would be like saying that Gbolahan Ogunsanwo influenced Peter Enahoro. How come the White House fact-checkers missed this transparent blooper?

My bad how can i miss this.
It makes me understand that simply because i dont believe in something doesnt mean its not real and my free will and ability to make good or bad decision, selection will definately speak against me if am caught up in this line. Spritually

. . . But scientifically i still cant figure out how an aerodynamic object of that size can be self propell and what if there is an alien threat? Are those objects manned or they are some mini drones or intellignt ariel vehicles? What if they are secret spy planes or objects or black magic, voodoo, witch craft? Thise questions keep on popping in on my mind daily. . .

Venire dentro.

Dear Rhino, rational thinking also places a lot of responsibility on the thinker. It gives no room for wild conclusions as i have highlighted above. I would ask:

How were you able to verify the size of the lighted object?
How did you get to conclude it was self propelled?
How come it may be an alien ship and not a meteor, crashing artificial satellite, initial stage of a rocket or astronauts re-entering the atmosphere e.t.c?

You see assertions must be done with caution and responsibility,

Observe a plane flying far away and stretch forth your palm and it will be completely covered from view but you know it's an illusion.

I have only highlighted a few demented post so that we can see why Nigeria is in such a sorry state although i earnestly hope those posters are not  older than 15.

A society where a large number have very short memory is on the path to self implosion. Neither is a country were the bulk of the educated class make judgments only on things they can immediately see without any benefit of hindsight going anywhere.

Yes we have been educated but have failed to understand.

Why not find out why the case is made to drag on before pronouncing the man innocent by some posters, if you are willing to pity and forgive Al-mustapha, what of the people shot in cold blood in Lagos streets, including a mother, or a man in his 70's. What threat do they constitute to military men trained with government resources that they should be killed without benefit of arrest not to talk of a trial.

Born Again Bankers
It is fast becoming the norm rather than exception. Church services in banks. Its organisers say it is meant to blend the business of banking with spirituality. Chidi 'Uzor looks at the patrons. Additional reports by Malachy Agbo

It came like a wild fire. Almost every bank had its own fellowship and very soon it was growing like fire. Before then it was not fashionable for bank chief executives to show off as born again Christians. It was not expected of them for at the time, top bank chief executives and indeed other professionals were not to identify with the "lazy lots" as they were thought to be.

It all started with the wholesale bank failures in the 1990s. Banks considered to be run by the cream deal cream of the banking industry collapsed like a pack of cards. To worsen it, the chairmen, chief executives and top management staff were clamped into prison. The confidence of men failed them and after a serious x-ray of the events those who still remained thought that it was not by the power of any man that an institution such as a bank could be run. They believed that they needed a superior hand to excel and to keep this almighty hand ever ready to assist, many dived into the waters called bornagainism.

Rev Segun Agbetuyi

A pioneer of this move, Agbetuyi does not hide the fact that from the word go, he had the best of life. "I mean the best of life". He was a lecturer, and consultant to many banks. He had believed that the world was at his feet. He had also believed that he was a super brain who could pontificate on almost every matter. Because of his confidence, he did not blink when he was called upon to rescue the ailing Omega bank. Omega Bank was then owned by Ondo and Ekiti States and the dwindling fortunes of the bank was seen as the fall of a legacy left by Papa Michael Ajasin, the first executive Governor of Ondo State.

"But I didn't know that I could not assess the enormity of the problem from outside. I was face to face with failure. And I went to God". This is the story, Agbatuyi is willing to tell any listener who is willing to hear his story about Owena bank. During his visit to THISDAY when the bank was about changing its name, he said that the first thing he did was to change the orientation of the bank staff and directed them towards God. On Thursdays, when the bank holds its in-house fellowship, it was difficult to differentiate between the bank in Owena and the church in Owena. Mr. Agbatuyi has added another feather to his spiritual cap. Undone with just being a member of the laity, he went for the jocular. He is an ordained reverend of Our Saviour's church, Tafawa Balewa, where he gives out the Holy Sacrament. These days the man has become so pious that one cannot help imagine what the man is still doing in the rough waters called banking, where currency trafficking, forex trading, low support to genuine business men rule the clime. He thinks otherwise. "It is the right time for people of God to take over in this land and show the love of God abroad", he states. Ever had of the gathering of eagles?

Chika Mbonu
Chika Mbonu is currently the Managing Director and Chief Executive of the newly acquired Assurance Bank. Many do not identify Mr. Mbonu with this new wave. But unknown to many, he is indeed an Associate Pastor at the City of David Parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God. Mbonu is not new to the banking world. Before his present position, he was Managing Director and Chief Executive of Citizens Bank.

Because he does not flaunt his bornagainism so much, not many actually see him so much in this light. There are indications however, that the new look Assurance Bank may be his major opportunity to showcase his spiritual connection.

Cecilia Ibru
Mrs. Ibru's story sounds similar to that of Agbetuyi. Oceanic Bank which is a member of the family's empire was in distress. There was a managing director but Mrs. Ibru was the chief operating officer. She had the singular target of rescuing the bank from its decadence. She tells of moments when she would not know the next thing to do. She would go to God in prayer. From that state of comatose, the bank came alive and Mrs. Ibru today seats atop the bank as its Managing Director and Chief Executive officer. For her, all she has done today is by the saving Grace of her lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Mrs. Ibru holds daily and weekly fellowships in the bank headquarters where she is in charge. But most prominently is the banks annual carol and thanksgiving services. She is a very respected member of Redeemed Christian Church of God.

Yinka Obalade
Yinka Obalade is the managing director and chief executive of Global Bank plc. Mr. Obalade is a deacon at the New Estate Baptist Church, where he is a deacon. He preaches to his flock every Sunday. He also does not spare opportunities to spread the gospel in his bank and other meetings of his friends and colleagues. He is the banking John the Baptist as he urges his friends to repent as the Kingdom of God is at hand. Is this also extended to banking business?

Erastus Akingbola
He is the tzar at Intercontinental Bank. Erastus who grew from the cradles in his banking career, aids say recognises the turbulent moments he has passed through and believes that it is only God that could have been able to take a man from such lowly positions to the pinnacle of his career. He has also instituted worship centres in his bank and makes it a way of life. Has that addressed fraud too?

Mr. Lemo Babantunde
He is a member of the born again chief executives. He tells anybody who cares to listen that he is not only Wema bank chief executive, but a servant in His Vine Yard. He is a deacon. And to show you what type of stuff he is made of, he welcomes his visitors with a horde of tracts which he distributes very freely. His aids say he enjoys biblical counseling as he enjoys his banking activities. He keeps heaps of tracts which he gives out very generously. Many may argue that does not produce huge profits. But the man has his balance sheet to show for his performance and leaves you with the judgment. And if he would have relented, his performance has even increased his faith and so he has scheduled every Friday as worship time for the bank staff. But has this stopped pretense?

Ben Akabueze
Mr. Akabueze is a pastor at the City of David Parish and holds forte at NAL Bank plaza. He organises fellowship in his office on Thursdays at 6pm. That is a march between his spiritual duty to bring men to Christ and his circular job of making profit for his shareholders. The mix is important to him because he misses the spiritual duty, he might lose his Grace, but if he does not make profit, he is fired by his employers. One pastime Akubueze indulges more frequently is the education of Christian men and women on economic management and doing business as Christians. Has the bank imbibed this attitude?

Shola Adeoti

Shola Adeoti belongs to the class of people Pastor Adeboye will always refer to as my daughter in the Lord. Even Shola's father, Chief Samuel Adedoyin acknowledges that his daughter is a class of her own in spiritual matters. She was the first to take the branch of her bank to Redeemed Camp not withstanding the marketing implications of such a move. The place is neither a market, nor a major business area. It mainly comes alive once every month. But faith has no bounds, and one may not be surprised to discover that that may be one of the bank's flourishing branches.

What is this for?
This is one question that occupies the minds of many. Is it a genuine desire to do things right? Or does it go with the proliferation of churches and mosques, yet more criminals. As more bankers and banking professionals become more religious, the question many ask is, do more banks lend to the real sector to stimulate this economy; do they now abide by the banking bible, Banks, and other Financial Institutions Act which provides for DOS and don'ts in the area. Do banks now keep away from sharp practices which the Nigerian scene is known for? But one good pointer, non of the banks managed by these men and women were sanctioned last year for sharp practices. Is this the beginning of sanity?

The dangers ahead?

There is one major problem that these banks may be facing right now or in the future. The major one is the possibility of acting. Because the expectations of chief executives are almost known, the staff will be falling over themselves to out perform others in showing that they love God more than the MDs. Just to curry favour. Beware of the wolves in sheep skin.

@ Debosky,

Let me ask you this question, if a friend gives you gifts of cars and money over a period of time and was later accused by the police of theft and embezzlement of items just like the gifts he gave you. To make matters worse he is on the run from the police and declared wanted.
His crime has actually destroyed lives of pensioners and several young people. People have actually identified you (who preaches and talks about integrity and truthfulness to whomsoever cares to listen) as his friend with whom he spends time with and probably benefited form his crime albeit unknowingly. What are the christian steps to take as regards your culpability and the fate of what your friend has given you?

Would a good christian in good conscience continue to keep the gifts and insist that until his wanted friend is apprehended and pronounced guilty by the court he will continue to enjoy the gifts?

I have never accepted it as 'normal', but I am no longer naive enough to think that simply being a pastor means you can't be engaged in fraud. That is the sad reality of things. I do not tolerate such behaviour in any form, but at the same time, I will not participate in condemning individuals without due process and hearing their side of the matter.

Pastors should be above board, but the bible also advises us to be wise - don't follow blindly expecting the title of 'pastor' will remove any risk of corruption.

If he is indeed guilty, there will be lots of time to condemn him - I see nothing wrong in letting the process of accusation/trial/prosecution take its course before passing judgement. The haste to not only condemn the man, but more importantly link his corruption to RCCG when no such evidence exists is unacceptable to me.

You and i know that in law there are technical loop-holes and getting a good lawyer can give you a latitude of room to maneuver.
But the nitty-gritty is that perception matters a lot, we don't start to form our opinion on the basis of a court simply pronouncing a person not having a case to answer.
Very few nigerians believe the elections declared as OK by the courts are actually so, otherwise Segun Oni and Akala are good candidates for ordination as pastors as they are now. Many still believe OJ simpson has some connection with his ex-wife's murder
where we are told he lost the civil case but won the criminal case (correct me if am wrong here).

The question and the point of this thread is not to trace every kobo Akingbola paid to RCCG but on major items like the aircraft issue (if true) and any cheque or physical item from him. Church should be perceived and seen setting a standard by fleeing from any form of corruption by things of this world. Whatever RCCG would lose in returning such items and monies it would gain by maintaining a moral high ground.

Plus am surprised daddy GO has never picked out Akingbola during Holy Ghost night and warn him to desist from fraud same way they catch adulterers, witches etc by saying 'somebody here' ,

Lion Bank was Managed 100% by Muslims, even their staff was more than 80% Muslims and yet where is Lion Bank today? It's not about religion, it's about time and chance in making good decision. I have the shares of AIG (America International Group), and the management was one of the best, yet they failed in their decisions and my shares lost 80% in less than 6 months. Did you notice that America bailed out Citi Group with tax payer's money? CitiBank management failed and they didn't ask the CEO to return his Ferari Enzo.

If the Citibank management were not found to be involved in fraud it's ok to get  a bailout without the sack.

And what's the value of the Ferari compared to Akingbola's properties about equivalent the shareholder capital of the bank

Again, I repeat INVESTMENTS based on religious sentiment is tantamount to throwing money away. I wouldn't allow a 'Christian' to operate on me if he was not a qualified doctor so why would I let that sway a financial investment?  Huh His religion is immaterial to a judgement of his professional capability.

This is the religious section yes, but we are not doing a 'compare and contrast' between Muslim bank managers and Christian ones as your post alludes. In terms of 'expecting' fraud, I expect the worst - previous experience has shown that being called 'Pastor' is not synonymous with being a good manager.

Again and again Debosky you keep making conclusions based on faulty premise. If you find it alright you are entitled to your opinion but i find it difficult to accept as normal an ordained pastor in one of Nigeria's largest churches enmeshed in serious allegation of fraud and breach of trust. To add to it he is on the run from the law.

Meanwhile his professional capability is not in doubt the issue at stake is his personal integrity

@Debosky,

At least i can say you actually read through my post before your replies unlike the other two guys with comprehension problems.

Did you read the prospectus that told you you could lose money as well?  Huh

You have no leg to stand on - you invested your money and lost it, not under any compulsion but by your free will. Feel free to demonise who you wish.

You don't need to tell me there is risk at every in every investment even when it is advertised as risk free. If you read my post well however i clearly stated i blame myself for the investment decision but i still do blame the management headed by the CEO. I don't know how you missed that

So what? Is religion now the basis for investments?

You obviously got your conclusions mixed up here. Akingbola flaunted his religioius credentials to show a false air of integrity which matters in business No? If you say he conned us with that then we are getting somewhere. He is that last CEO we expect to be accused of fraud even before Ovia or Elumelu.
Don't forget this is also religious section.

RBS, HBOS and other banks nearly went belly up too - were they also a result of morning devotions?  Huh You are making some poorly thought out conclusions here - making any link between religion and investments is a serious error of judgement.

They hold morning devotion there too, new info , but where the CEO's accused of acquiring  properties all over the world with values close to what their banks lost?

This is not a matter of standards - anyone can come out and make 'accusations' - till those accusations are established as facts, we are all just engaging in debating conjecture.

Anyone making an investment on religious basis is a fool waiting to be parted from his money.

Sorry sir, standards always matter when dealing with anyone otherwise anything goes becomes defensible

What the crap are these emergency investment analyst who are probably yet to get of school whining about?

Do you know how many investment houses in Lagos (Including   Falcon Securities allegedly owned by Akingbola and wife) who analyze the market also lost money without saving their entire investement. I am just a small time investor  in ICB shares not a guru and all i expect is growth in my investment from a public offer. I am not a speculator and the only person  apart from myself i can hold responsible is the management of the bank.

I also invested in GTB managed by muslims at he top and it's being wonderful in terms of returns, bonus and dividends. ICB managed by alleged pastors gave me no dividends and only crappy dividends.

They deceived all by making their staff have morning devotions and share word for today. They (including Oceanic) were busy announcing awards of best this best that thereby deceiving shareholders. Meanwhile they were busy carrying out insider dealings giving loans to family and cronies and acquiring personal properties on the island and abroad.

Any wonder the investments went almost belly up? Don't you know ICB and a few others shares took a very heavy battering compared to other banks?

Continue to defend them while people of other faiths laugh their buts out on very shallow standards Christians hold themselves to. Always in a hurry to embrace fraud and hide, defend and protect bad behavior.

Is someone still saying the current state of Intercontinental has no relationship with Akingbola's management style?

This is all too funny a thread
For al Daddy GO/RCCG defenders, how many of you will hear over the radio that a teaspoonful of contaminant was feared (not confirmed) added to Iju water works reservoir and investigation and water analysis experts have being called to ascertain the type and level of contamination, quantity if any in the public water supply.

Now how many of you will take more water from tap to drink or even to bathe or wash plates? how many of you will not empty all the water you have in the refrigerator or stored in kegs or drums?

How many will continue to drink the water while waiting for the results of the water analysis?
How many will continue to feel confident and walk with swagger in an all-white robe with a red blot on the chest?

That is the principle and philosophy that is lost on many bread and butter Xtians who have posted in this thread. They find it difficult to imagine letting go of money simply b'cos it has exchanged hands.

It is really unfortunate some have suggested that the church wait for a conviction in the Akingbola circumstances before taking a bold step. In other climes merely accusing a goverment official of impropriety is enough to make him resign while investigations are on-going, but in Nigera they will even rent a crowd to protest their immenet dismissal (Iwu). It is a cultural problem and it seems membership of a church has woefully failed to transform our character

Do we have anybody on this forum who has money deposited at Intercontinetal and Oceanic and have not been able to get their money out?

I keep hearing this Akingbola and Ibru stole people's deposit, do we have anyone here who have not been able to get their money out of these banks?

Yup you're right, this is definitely a very silly question. I invested 165,000 naira in 2006 and that same amount is worth less than 20,000 naira today thanks to the financial wizardry of Erastus Akingbola. And he ended up with multiple mansions in VI/Ikoyi and the bank business in which he sweet-talked me to invest ran up huge debts and losses.

Go figure!

In lagos older cars require road worthiness and newer ones MOT , is very important ooo otherwise if you fall into the hands of V. I. o then be ready to pay a fine of 5k as i was a victim of them 2weeks ago.

Very good this issue has always agitated my mind, i drive a 2003 car and i got the Road Worthiness cert. but nobody has ever requested for it.

But for information purpose, what specific age for older or newer cars?

your conclusions though ignorant reflect your inability to entertain new truths and revelation. I am not interested in a debate. There is going to be a rapture.

On a side note . . . Let me state that after reading several resources on rapture, I became confused, So I asked God and I received an answer. I am satisfied with the answer I received. There is going to be a rapture and a lot of church-going folks will be disappointed.

Noetic, i have read your comments on other issues this is very unlike your robust replies and comments.
If you had carefully read my last response, it is obviously not a conclusion as there is a question mark at the end of the sentence.
I can't recall any new truths whatsoever you have supplied to this thread about the subject matter.

As per revelation, which you received, we don't have the details, how are we sure they don't contradict Jesus Christ's words?

do u expect me to give evidences or arguments for the rapture? do u expect me to convince u of the rapture?
I am not interested in doing so.

And will that be beacuse the doctrine is bogus or out of sycn or difficult to explain in plain language?
