gigfx:Historical and Social Case Studies The Awolowo Era The era of Obafemi Awolowo represented a period when leadership was associated with vision, education, and social development. Citizens believed government could improve society, and political participation carried ideological passion. People fought intellectually for progress and regional development. --- The Wole Soyinka Era Wole Soyinka symbolizes intellectual resistance and fearless criticism of oppression. Writers, academics, and activists openly challenged military rule and authoritarianism. This era reflected courage in public discourse. Intellectuals saw silence as betrayal. --- The Tinubu Era Under Bola Ahmed Tinubu, many Nigerians face rising economic hardship, inflation, and public frustration. Citizens increasingly express anger online, but organized resistance remains weak compared to the intensity of public suffering. Many people now prioritize personal survival over collective struggle. --- The Sowore Era Omoyele Sowore represents modern activism driven by protests and calls for revolution against corruption and poor governance. His activism reflects attempts to awaken public resistance. However, widespread fear, political division, and economic desperation limit mass participation. --- The VDM Era VeryDarkMan represents a new generation of digital activism where social media influencers speak against injustice, corruption, and social hypocrisy. This era shows that resistance has shifted from streets and institutions to online platforms. While digital activism raises awareness quickly, it sometimes lacks the organization and long-term structure needed for deep societal change. --- Conclusion The decline in humans fighting for survival is one of the defining social realities of modern times. Many people no longer resist hardship with courage but adapt to it silently, like snails retreating into shells. In Nigeria, this condition can be seen from secondary schools to universities, workplaces, and society itself. Fear, economic struggle, disappointment, and exhaustion have weakened collective resistance. Yet history shows that societies only progress when citizens refuse to normalize injustice. The challenge for modern generations is not merely to survive, but to rediscover the courage to demand dignity, accountability, and meaningful change. |
Nigeria as a Case Study Human society has evolved from a generation that struggled aggressively for survival into one that increasingly adapts to hardship with silence, fear, and slow acceptance. In many parts of the world, especially in developing nations like Nigeria, people now endure suffering rather than confront the systems responsible for it. This condition can be described as “snail behaviour” — a situation where humans withdraw into their shells whenever danger, oppression, or hardship appears. Unlike earlier generations who resisted injustice openly, many modern people have become emotionally tired, economically trapped, and psychologically defeated. The instinct to fight for dignity, truth, and survival appears to be declining. --- Understanding “Snail Behaviour” A snail survives by retreating into its shell at the slightest threat. In the same way, many citizens today avoid confrontation, avoid speaking truth to power, and avoid challenging corruption or oppression. Fear of losing jobs, social status, or safety has weakened public resistance. This behaviour is not necessarily caused by cowardice alone. It is also the product of: economic hardship, political intimidation, social frustration, and the exhaustion caused by repeated disappointment. Over time, survival becomes more important than resistance. Nigeria as a Case Study Secondary School Experience The decline in fighting spirit often begins in secondary school. Students who question authority are frequently labelled as stubborn or disrespectful. Creativity and independent thinking are sometimes discouraged in favour of obedience. Many students learn early that: silence avoids punishment, conformity brings acceptance, and endurance is safer than resistance. As a result, young people gradually lose confidence in challenging injustice or demanding better conditions. University Experience Universities were once centres of activism and intellectual courage in Nigeria. Student movements historically challenged military governments, poor leadership, and corruption. Today, however, many students focus mainly on survival: paying school fees, avoiding strikes, finding employment opportunities, and escaping poverty after graduation. The fear of an uncertain future discourages activism. Social media outrage often replaces organized action. Students complain online but rarely sustain collective resistance offline. --- The Workplace At workplaces, many employees endure poor salaries, toxic environments, exploitation, and injustice because unemployment is high. Workers fear dismissal more than oppression. People remain silent when: promotions are unfair, corruption exists, rights are violated, or leadership becomes abusive. The desire to “protect one’s job” often overpowers the desire to fight for dignity. --- Society at Large Across society, hardship has normalized suffering. Citizens complain about: inflation, insecurity, corruption, bad governance, and unemployment, yet many still feel powerless to create change. This creates a dangerous cycle: 1. leaders act without accountability, 2. citizens lose hope, 3. silence increases, 4. oppression deepens. A society that stops resisting injustice slowly accepts decline as normal. |
Na now we wan start to dey chop statistic. |

Alliswell248:I actually want him to win, not because he will give good governance, but seems he is the only candidate that can tackle all those fulani elite. |
All I can say is that, those that did not taste Tinubu form of government and use the propaganda of He developed Lagos to vote for him, maybe they will don understand why he did not win in Lagos now. Next election will say a lot. |
Trump no go do anything, if na Netenyahu now I know say that one na talk and do. |
The man that don't know how to spell Chairman, na Chiarman he be joor. |
This same president use Nigeria tax money to buy new presidential airbus, Escalade and yacht immediately he enter power, he never use all these things to serve the people but himself. I am discussing this same blood issue with my wife last month using Matthew 12, not knowing that they will review that understanding this month even though it still not making any sense. Many of the JW laws looks like those of the Pharisees in Jesus time. |
Why not just turn our men in black to state police by telling each of them to go back to their state and then turn dss to federal police. |
Yahweh is showing his superiority over Allah once again. Alkarboom people in severe pain right now. Imagine what this world will turn to if Allah is actually the greatest. We for don hear am for this world. |
The same way in Iran in the 1970’s while pastors are busy building big cathedral and minding themselves from political happenings in the country until there comes a revolution and the Muslim took over the country and rename the country to Islamic country, all the big big cathedral built by the church were turned into mosque eventually. Nigeria Christian don’t sleep too, it’s getting there gradually. |

I always think bad of those that sell out Africa for our fore-fathers to be ensalved, but with what i am experiencing in our own time, i totally changed my mind. It seems Africa has been always blessed with stupid leaders that are selfish and incompetent. |
Good one , It's baffling that we have DSS in the country and we are experiencing killing everyday. Seems all of them are just sitting in the office doing nothing. Detectives should be able to have penetrate all this jihadist and get information that will help this country. But I won't be surprised if they are all Fulani's |
What is happening now just remind me of when APC egbekegbe was still an opposition party. They will have jump high and low and run with what is happening now. Remember Liar Mohammed then jumping from one TV station to the other just for them to get power. This ADC people don't have that energy, Emilokan really fit Nigeria. Emilokan mantra " Power is not served a la carte" |
Christistruth00:So you want to tell us that it is Emilokan and cohort that likes us. Go listen to this former Ekiti state governor Fayemi, about what he said during Jonathan. That they are just playing politics, that Nigeria economy is fast growing that time, and most sad of it is that the man is laughing about it. Just imagine this wicked people in government today. If it takes an intervention from USA or better still Israel, it go sweet my belle. |
You cannot plant yam and be expecting potatoes when you wanted to harvest. The same current leaders are happy to use propaganda to amplify the situation under Goodluck Jonathan time. Their evil agenda is catching up to them really fast. From all indications they are the one behind the insecurities, reason you see them not bothered about the situation. If it takes an external president to come to Christian aids in Nigeria, it only shows that we have wicked people in government. |
You will never see Rufai have a problem with those that are not politicians on set, it is always these our politicians. They don't want to be accountable. Most of them don't know how to answer simple questions, because Rufai type of questions are the easiest to answer, the guy will don do all the narration down for you, na just to fill the small gap remains. |
Jesus said in John 4:24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” |
id911:I so much agree with this submission, I finished my nysc during Obasanjo term as president, we have a lot of multinationals coy in the con3 then. I was able to work with one of them for just 2 years, for those 2 years I was able to build my house settled down and I resigned from the job because no time at all for family bonding but I was able to setup small business for myself before i resigned. Most of those multinationals now don japada from Nigeria. |
I remember in the 80's when our daddy and mummy will be telling us about good old days in Nigeria of the 70's how they are enjoying themselves frying eggs with corn-beef and all other forms of enjoyment. We always ask them, wetin come happen, they always answer us back with na Babangida oo. Many of us then never think good about Babangida operation SAP to sap away peoples money. While the prices of goods and services are on the increase, salary remain the same. I never think such will happen again in my lifetime, but I know one thing that the children of today when they ask their parents, the answer will be na Tinubu ooo. |
