Celebrities / Re: Regina Askia Is Now A Registered Nurse (pics)! by GiidiMwan: 3:36pm On Apr 24, 2011
Unfortunately the Naijaness and bad belle in us seeks to try and pull people down and equate monetary millions with happiness. Money is needed to have a good life but don't feel that oodles of cash will make you any happier. I know, I've been there !!!! This isn't to say Millions make you unhappy, NO !!! What I say is that financial wealth is not guarantee of either HEALTH, LOVE, or HAPPINESS.

Regina has made a laudable choice to be out of the limelight and 'enjoy' her life privately. I can bet you the piece of mind she has in he US is better than providing cannon fodder for the gutter journalists who go round trying to smear people's names in the name of 'News Scoops'.

I've also seen comments about 'wiping butts in America' and it really showed me the shallowness and ignorance of whoever made such comments. I can bet you that person (or those people) are 'stuck' in Nigeria with little hope of ever crossing our borders. Let me educate YOU, Nursing is not about 'wiping butts' and has moved well ahead of the Nurse Eliza's you come across in Nigeria. Before you ask, NO, I'm not a nurse, will never and don't aspire to be one !!!!!!

Massive kudos to Regina , To me she's the kind of role model a lot of girls should aspire to be like. She's been there, Done that and I wish her all the very best !!!
Politics / Re: Reuters----80% Lagosians Will Vote Jonathan. How True? by GiidiMwan: 9:52am On Apr 08, 2011
Utter Rubbish !!!! Unless the votes are rigged, GEJ may win but not by this margin that is being claimed.  I think someone is using this propanganda to lower/raise expectations so that some will assume it's all a forgone conclusion.

Unfortunately we are still blinded by ethnic and religious sentiment and thus fail to see that GEJ doesn't really have anything to offer. Someone mentioned that he has 'experience', What experience? As well as standing by (and mute) whilst the Yaradua illness affair and the still ongoing legislative looting has been going on, nothing comes to mind as a MAJOR achievement that can be attributed to his albeit protracted tenure. Nigeria has indeed passed the stage of waiting on providence to further our development. As the saying goes, 'Bullshitting might get you to the top, but it surely won't keep you there'.

I'm a Southerner and until we stop viewing elective posts as 'being taken or going back to either the North or South or indeed any part of the country', we are indeed doomed. The person who seems like they will offer more and take less should be the man to lead us.

I recently read GEJ's comment about ensuring that there is steady power if he is reelected. I didn't know whether to piss on myself in frustration or laugh at the idiocy of that statement. Instead of telling us what he's doing RIGHT NOW, the plans, the consultations he's kicked off in this regard, he's giving ashawo promises all over the place. shocked

As Janet Jackson aptly said 'What have you done for me lately?'. That question indeed on a more global level should be on the minds of all Nigerians as they go to vote, WHAT HAVE DONE FOR ME (THE COUNTRY, SERVICES, SECURITY, GOOD GOVERNANCE,EMPLOYMENT, FIGHTING CORRUPTION et al.) LATELY.

Here's a suggestion though this will not happen, GEJ (and indeed all political elect) should be made give an assurance that if a certain percentage (lets say 50%) of their performance milestones are not met, they would have to step down. If this was incorporated into the constitution then it would stop the flatulent promises  being bandied about and direct the focus more to promising what you can deliver as well as the actual delivery. wink

In the meantime, big respects go out to Governor Fashola who has indeed shown that whilst the mediocres might make excuses for their failures, that indeed a resolute and forward thinking individual can indeed make a BIG difference.  ;DGracias
Autos / Re: Reg 2003 Nissan Altima For N1m by GiidiMwan: 1:59am On Mar 26, 2011
Layonz,

I'm very interested in this car and would like to view it ASAP. The issue of price is a minor detail that we can sort out when we've seen the car 'live'. I'm aware of your asking price and am sure we can reach a mutually agreeable amount when the deal is set to be done.

Abeg where can the car be viewed? What is the current mileage on the car? I'm presuming that this is a tokunbo (used in Nigeria) car? When can we see the car?

Please email me on austinebay@gmail.com with these details as well as more photos and we'll arrange something in a day or 2.

Thank you.
