A magistrate court in Minna has sentenced Yakubu Dahiru, a teenager, to three months in prison for stealing a fowl. Sentencing the teenager, Binta Rijau, the magistrate, however said she would be lenient on the accused person as he was remorseful. Rijau ordered him to pay a fine of N3000 or serve three months in prison in the event of a default. Dahiru had been charged with a joint act, house breaking and theft, to which he pleaded guilty and begged for leniency. Thomas Peter, the prosecutor, had told the court that two men, Yusuf Mohammed and Christopher Yahaya reported the matter at the police station on May 2. Peter quoted the complainants as alleging that the accused person and two others, now at large, broke into their compound and stole a fowl valued at N2000. The prosecutor said the offence contravened Sections 79, 347 and 288 of the Penal Code and asked the court to try the accused summarily in line with Section 157 of the Criminal Procedure Code. Actress and singer, Jenifer Eliogu, has advised young ones in the movie industry that the only way they can be relevant in the industry is to harness their talents. Sharing her thoughts on actresses that often flaunt their bodies, the entertainer told Saturday Beats, “Exceptional talent, (not nudity) is what guarantees one’s relevance in this industry; we all come to that realisation over time.” The actress also maintained that she has never entertained the thought of quitting movies for music. She stated, “Firstly, it has been a good year so far. I shot my third movie written and produced by me. I have also been on many other productions, with lovely scripts, wonderful crew and good fees. I cannot complain. And things keep getting better. “As for those who think I have or may want to quit acting for music, it untrue. I have had my band for seven years, and we do all kinds of events. I have never thought of quitting acting. I find fulfillment in both acting and singing. I also compere events and still run my NGO which I started 10 years ago. Ultimately, I create enough time for my family. Passion is what I thrive on.” Although her marriage has being the subject of many salacious reports with some insinuating that she was ‘chased out of her matrimonial home’, the singer said she has found that silence is golden. She added, “Silence is all I have to offer on that particular issue. I react when it is absolutely necessary but most of the time, I just decide not to dignify them. As much as I am a public figure by virtue of my career, I keep my private life private. I don’t need validation from anyone. I avoid distractions as much as possible.” Recalling some of the challenges she faced in the early stage of her career, Eliogu said, “My dad didn’t like it when I started acting because of the general perception people had about actors. It was quite a challenge getting him, a titled chief in Igboland, to understand my passion for acting and importantly, getting his blessing.” See more here; http://gistmore.com/talent-not-nudity-guarantees-success-in-movie-industry-jenifer-eliogu

Many may not consider popular actor, John Okafor, aka Mr Ibu, to be a romantic man, but he has said he is not a novice in that area. In a chat with Sunday Scoop, the Police Recruit actor explained what romance means to him. He said, “When you talk about romance, the average man thinks of making love to a woman but it is not so. If you are romantic, it constitutes everything that transpires between you and a woman, whether she is your girlfriend or not. I believe that when you are romantic, it means you are caring to an extent that a woman would be willing to stay and play with you even without making love to you, and that is nice. If you are the type of person that has money and you go out to buy something for a lady you stay around, I believe that can be considered romantic. Or if you are invited to a party and you go with a lady, even if you are not married, that can also be considered romantic. Also, if you feel like having sexual intercourse and it’s the same woman that comes to your mind, she may be willing to have it with you. But not that you force her and you think you are being romantic.” On the most romantic gesture he had ever expressed to a woman, Okafor said, “There was something I did (some time ago) that made people suspect me. I bought a vehicle for a lady and people thought we were intimate. However, there was nothing like that. The girl was actually instrumental to a big deal I was working on which seemed impossible until I got her involved. I don’t even think the car was enough for her, compared to what she did for me.” Mr Ibu also maintained that his wife had no reservations about his car gift to the said lady. “Of course, I was married with children at that time, and I did not even know the colour of her pant. Usually, I tell my wife whatever I want to do and she understands,” he said. On what he’s working on at the moment, the actor said he was just recovering from the effects of the poison he was forced to ingest some months ago. “For the moment, I am not working on anything because I’m still recovering from the poison I was given during the last Christmas in Nnewi, Anambra State. The people who gave me the poison held me down on the floor as if they were handling a cow and forcefully put it in my mouth. I think they were sent by someone.” he said. Meanwhile, Ibu said he had forgiven those behind the dastardly act. He added, “The perpetrators did not wear masks, so I saw their faces. One of the boys involved in the act tried to run away but I told him not to. I have forgiven them because God has cured me. I decided not to make a case out of it because of the number of people that came to apologise to me, and gave me money for treatment.” See more here; http://gistmore.com/romance-not-all-about-sex-mr-ibu
