The Artist Intent

CELEBRATING MARK ON HIS BIRTHDAY WITH A SPECIAL GIFT
It may not be best of times to feel the need to celebrate your birthday but living testimonies like me, among millions of others who benefited immensely from Facebook are the reasons why you should celebrate and be celebrated. Facebook is a “NATION” that has produced and promoted unity, happiness and greatness among nations; vast majority of people; regardless of age, ethnicity, color and social class.
I wrote this piece of literature to convey my appreciation, narrate my story on how I have been inspired by Mark, how Facebook has influenced my art career and also to present a special artistic birthday gift to you.
For the 6 (six) months, I worked on a 6FT by 4FT bead painting . The painting is a token of appreciation to a man whose brainchild positively changed my life and elevated my career as an ARTIST. To mention a few, Facebook helped me to:
CONNECT with Art educators across the globe for collaboration on different projects.
EXTENDING ART TRAINING for children beyond the classroom, through internal exchange programs.
EMPOWER youths on various art skills, enough to keep them off street and provide them with good income.
My special gift to Mark is a painting that contains over a million beads, each representing the countless number of people that are happy with Facebook, benefited from Facebook and also the number of people in my network.

Health / Nigeria's Poor Healthcare System Is Responsibl For 3000 Deaths Of Women, children by Gistallover: 5:17pm On Jun 16, 2017

- Faisal Shuaib disclosed that on a per state basis, approximately 2,400 women and children die every month from preventable diseases

- The NPHCDA boss noted that a reduction in the number of deaths of women and children per state on a monthly basis would show that healthcare delivery was improving in the country

- Life expectancy in the country was revealed to be 53 and 56 years for men and women respectively in 2015

The executive director of the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NPHCDA), Faisal Shuaib, has disclosed that as a result of poor access to basic healthcare, Nigeria loses 3,000 children and women daily to preventable diseases, Premium Times reports.

According to Mr. Shuaib the country’s poor health system is also responsible for the death of some children in Nigeria before they reach the age of 5.

The healthcare boss made his comments while speaking at a workshop on the Implementation of the Primary Health Care Under One Roof policy, in Abuja on Thursday, June 15.

He stated: “Primary Healthcare remains the foundation for reasonable and sustainable changes to the poor health indicators in the sector, since it deals with these preventable diseases.

“Nigeria’s poor health outcome in critical areas is best reflected by the fact that approximately 3,000 women and under five children die daily in the country.“

This implies that in each state represented here, approximately 2,400 women and children die every month, 80 per day, from causes which are preventable.

“We are expected to deliver on results and we will be held accountable for our performance, and the most important evidence of our performance will be seen in the reduction in deaths of pregnant women and children in our respective states and nationally, during our tenures.”

Asishana Okauru, director general of the Nigeria Governor’s Forum who also spoke at the event lamented over the country’s poor quality of healthcare.

According to Okauru, Nigeria contributes up to 10 percent to maternal mortality in the world even though it constitutes only 2percent of the world’s population.

He disclosed that in 2015, life expectancy in the country was 53 and 56 years for men and women respectively.

Speaking on what was hoped to be achieved from the meeting, he said: “We are here today on a different but related together with a number of strategic partners this time, focused on ensuring the political commitment of our Governors to the implementation of the Primary Health Care Under One Roof policy.“

Part of our objective is to ensure that boards are properly constituted and adequately funded.

Culture / 228-yr-old Igarra Festival, One Of Nigeria’s Oldest —edo Govt by Gistallover: 5:55am On Jun 12, 2017
BENIN—Edo State Government has described the 228 years old Aba festival held once every six years by the people of Igarra in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of the state, as one of the oldest festivals in the country.

Mrs Kate Ibe, a Director in the state Ministry of Arts, Culture and Tourism, disclosed this at a press conference organised by Etuno Youth Association, EYA, saying that the state government will ensure that the festival, scheduled to hold in August, was given its desired recognition.

She said that the festival has already been documented and forwarded to the National Council of Arts and Culture, NCAC, for official recognition and endorsement.

“The Aba festival is the first festival in our list. We have forwarded the list to NCAC for proper identification. Every festival in Edo State was submitted. They have been documented and will be sent to the international bodies. We are not leaving you people alone,” she assured.

On activities to herald the cultural festival, Chairman, Central Organising Committee, Obed Alli, said the festival had long been rated by Total E & T in 2006 as the sixth most indigenous cultural festival in West Africa.

Tracing the origin of the festival, Alli said it was celebrated as a victory by hunters over the initial settlers of the land now known as Etuno (Igarra).

Romance / Sex Without Orgasm Is A Waste Of Time —seyi Hunter by Gistallover: 8:34pm On Jun 11, 2017
Chief Executive Officer of Miss Bikini International, actress and producer, Seyi Hunter, has her hands full at the moment. In spite of being at the brink of bringing to us, once again, the ever-scintillating Miss Bikini pageant, which is billed for July 30, the alluring actress is floating a sex Vlog. Seyi Hunter According to the stunning and daring actress, the Nigerian society, and Africa, by extension, makes people to shy away from publicly talking about sex. She believes it is high time someone took the bull by the horn by coming out publicly to talk about sex and how to pleasurably derive ultimate satisfaction from it,, using all means possible. In an exclusive chat with Potpourri, Seyi revealed plans to create an online platform tagged Seyi Hunter Uncensored, where she would publicly teach ladies how to achieve sexual satisfaction in their various relationships. “Someone has to talk about it; being Nigerians, it’s in our nature to shy away from sexual matters, and it’s affecting so many relationships and marriages. Some people have been together for years and yet have never been sexually satisfied, while some do not enjoy themselves at all. I know a couple of women who have never experienced orgasm in their lives. These reasons and many more, are why I’ve decided to embark on this journey of opening a sex Vlog. It’s going to be interactive. People can send in mails to talk about their sexual lives. And an expert will be brought in to teach people things they know but do not practice. My aim is to bring sexual pleasure and satisfaction to every home. To me, having sex without experiencing orgasm is a waste of time and missing out on some real joy of living,” she said.

Politics / Biafra: Ohaneze Disowns Nnamdi Kanu, Reveals Solution To Nigeria’s Problems Read by Gistallover: 7:54pm On Jun 11, 2017
- Ohaneze Ndigbo has dissociated itself from Nnamdi Kanu’s IPOB’s agitation to secede from Nigeria - The group insisted that restructuring remains the solution to Nigeria’s problems - The IPOB and MASSOB had been calling for secession of Igbo from Nigeria Ohaneze Ndigbo, the apex socio-political organisation of the Igbo has again dissociated itself from Independent People of Biafra (IPOB)’s agitation to secede from Nigeria. The IPOB is led by Nnamdi Kanu who was recently released by the Abuja High Court after he had spent over one year in detention. The Punch reports that the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the Ohanaeze, Chuks Ibegbu said that the group believes more in a restructured Nigeria; a Nigeria that has a level playing field for all sections of the country; a Nigeria that gives each part of the country a sense of belonging. NAIJ.com gathered that Ibegbu said: “For example, in a country of 36 states, the South-East has five states and 95 local governments; while Kano State alone has 44 local governments. The other time, we saw the statistics of recruitment in the Department of State Services with Katsina State alone having 51 allocations. Yet, we have the Federal Character Commission. Biafra: Ohaneze disowns Nnamdi Kanu, reveals solution to Nigeria’s problems “We want the FCC to investigate the recent recruitment in the DSS. Abia State got only six allocations; Enugu State, six; Katsina, the home state of President Muhammadu Buhari, got 51 slots. These are the sort of issues that elicit agitations. “When there is no level playing ground, do you think people will keep quiet? Abia State alone produces more graduates than 10 states in the North combined, yet you gave them only seven opportunities and gave Katsina 51. "We are not saying Nigeria should be divided, but the issues these young men are talking about should be addressed. Instead, it seems they want people like Nnamdi Kanu to shut up without addressing the issues, judging by the bail conditions (they gave him).” He said that the issue of secession should be forgone, adding that what Nigeria needs now is restructuring. “Forget about the issue of secession or no secession; the fundamental issue we are talking about is restructuring of the country. There is the need to look into the more than 200 recommendations in the 2014 Confab report. What generates corruption? When the system is suffocating people, when the system is not properly arranged, people will be stealing here and there. You cannot stop corruption by force. Even the issue of lopsided appointments is corruption. We have to address the fundamental issues. had earlier reported that the Ohanaeze Ndigbo asked Federal Government should treat the Northern youths who issued three months quit notice to Igbos in the north should be treated like Nnamdi Kanu. .

Politics / Nigerian System Frustrating Youths – Ooni by Gistallover: 2:33pm On Jun 11, 2017
Nigerian system frustrating youths – Ooni
The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, said yesterday that the Nigerian system was frustrating its youths.

He also blamed the current economic hardship in the country on “heavy dependent” on foreign goods.

The monarch stated this in his convocation lecture at the Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete.

The lecture was entitled: Practical entrepreneurship: Leeway to Nigerian economic recovery and growth.

Ogunwusi added that “70 per cent of Nigerians are youths. They are vibrant, energetic and purposeful driven; they can think outside the box, yet they are frustrated by the system. The system has not encouraged ýthem.”

He listed investment, production and consumption as some of the ingredients for a viable economy, adding that the way out of the economic recession is huge investment in locally made goods.

“If we change our orientation, ýthings will move forward properly for the country. There is no shortcut to success. We have propensity to consume but no propensity to produce. In the 60s Nigeria had so much money and did not know what to do with the currency, then our propensity to produce started dropping.

“One of our fundamental problems in this country is that we don’t want to learn from our mistakes. We have forgotten how to link all economic ingredients for economic recovery in Nigeria.

“The current economic hardship in the country is a blessing in disguise. It is making us think inwardly, as state governments are now collaborating.

“How well we are thinking out of the box; that is food for thought for us all in Nigeria. Necessity is the mother of invention.

“The leeway to economic recovery in Nigeria lies with you and I. Let us believe in our country and think positively,”ý he said.
