Father of five was arrested by the Anti-Vandal Team of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ogun Command, while he was trying to hang himself in a bush on Ayetoro Road, Abeokuta.

Security agents in Ogun have captured a man who professedly endeavored to submit suicide over his failure to discount a N50,000 'credit.

The man had tied a rope to a tree and was about hanging himself when a member of the NSCDC team saw him.

The man, a 34-year old father of five, later told newsmen that he worked with Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) in Ogun but was sacked.

He explained that his inability to perform his responsibility as the head of the family led him to attempt suicide .

He added that his failure to pay the ‘loan from LAPO, a private micro-credit lending organisation, forced him to take the decision to take his life.

“I am a 200 level drop-out of Federal College of Education, Osiele, I dropped out because I could not get financial assistance to continue.

“Due to the health problem of my child in 2008, I had to drop out so that I could have some money to take care of my sick child.

“But, we later lost the child in 2009 because we were unable to pay some hospital bills after people had helped us in raising money for the surgery.
“I was duped by some people and they even threatened me which made me to leave Abeokuta for Akwa-Ibom state.

The Police in Anambra have apprehended a 26-year-old man, Chukwuemeka Okafor, for purportedly endeavoring to use his dad, two kin and five of his close friends for money ritual.

The suspect, who hailed from Ifite-Awka in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra, was arrested following information made available to the police by a vigilant resident of the community.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Garba Umar, who briefed newsmen in Amawbia on Thursday on the arrest of the suspect, said the father had innocently provided N100, 000 to his son unknown to him that the son had a devilish intention.

Umar said that the suspect lied to his father about a business which made him to raise the money for him believing that it was for a genuine venture.

He further said that after collecting the money, the suspect proceeded to the house of a native doctor to prepare a charm that would enable him to eliminate his father, two siblings and five of his friends.

He said that the suspect had confessed to the crime, and was assisting the police with useful information for further investigation.
The commissioner said the suspect would be charged to court after investigation.

He listed the items recovered from the suspect to include; eight photographs of the victims, including three members of the family and pictures of his five face book friends as well as the sum of N100,000.

The suspect told newsmen that he collected the N100, 000 from his father under the pretext that he would use the money to set up a business.

Okafor told reporters that he was roped into the act after he was defrauded of N400,000 by one of his friends who promised to take him to Dubai.

“Amidst these frustrations, I sought for the assistance of one Zaki who is very influential in the society and he told me that he made his money through money ritual.
“He encouraged me to join him in the ritual act after revealing the secret,” he said.

Okafor said he was warned not to reveal the secrets of the ritual to anybody otherwise his life would be terminated.

The 2017/2018 JAMB official cut-off marks for Nigeria Universities, official cut-off marks for Polytechnics and Colleges of Education, jamb cut off mark for unilag, jamb cut off mark for medicine and surgery 2017, are expected to be announced at the end of the policy meeting that will be held between August 21st and 22nd, 2017. It is true that JAMB cut-off marks for the various institutions have remained the same in the recent past.

The goodnews is that The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has set the the minimum cut-off mark for admissions into universities at 120.

This followed the conclusion of the combined policy meeting which had Vice Chancellors, Rectors and Provosts of higher institutions as well as other stake holders in attendance.

The official cut off marks for polytechnics is 100 and colleges of education was set at 100 while that of innovative enterprising institutes was set at 110.

It was also decided at the meeting that admission into first choice universities should close on October 15 while December 15, 2017 was set as the closing date for second choice admission by institutions.

JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede said institutions, with the decision, are not to go below the minimum cut-off points adopted at the meeting for admissions. He called for the adoption of flexible cut-off marks for admission processes by higher institutions in the country.

According to him, “What JAMB has done is to recommend; We will only determine the minimum, whatever you determine as your admission cut-off mark is your decision.

“The Senate and academic boards of universities should be allowed to determine their cut-off marks.”He said.

“The admission process is now automated with direct involvement of the registrar of JAMB for final approval.

“We have agreed to regularize admissions that were done under the table this year. From next year we will not accept anything like that.”

The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, also formerly announced a lift of the ban on the conduct of Post-UTME examination as a prerequisite for admission into tertiary institutions.

“Cancellation of Post- UTME is a mistake,” he said.
He noted that banning of post-UTME led to a lot of irregularities by candidates and some institutions. The minister explained that with the lifting of the ban on the conduct of the examination, institutions are now at liberty to conduct, while adding that fee for the post utme examination should not exceed N2000.

A 2014 Harvard study showed men who consumed the most processed meat like hamburgers, hot dogs, salami, bologna, bacon, had 23 percent fewer normal sperm than guys who ate it sparingly. In another 2014 study, published in the journal Epidemiology, the same researchers found that eating processed meat was associated with how to decrease sperm count naturally.

Nigerian performing artist and Jenifa's Diary star, Olayode Juliana prominently known as 'Toyo Baby' has uncovered the explanation for her claim that she was a virgin.

In her book titled ‘Rebirth’ where she revealed she was molested at a young age by a married man who was also her music teacher.

The Ogun State Government on Sunday said that the number of associated contacts with the Lassa fever had ascended to 106.

The" Commissioner for Health, Dr Babatunde Ipaye, who disclosed this in a telephone interview, however, allayed the fear of the public.

He said that the state government was putting in place necessary measures to contain the spread.
Ipaye had on Friday disclosed that no fewer than 66 persons had had contact with the patient.

A 22-year-old male patient (name withheld) had on Thursday been placed under medical observation at the State Hospital, Ijaiye, Abeokuta over Lassa fever infection.

Ipaye said all the contacts had been given thermometers to measure their temperature, with health and surveillance officers of the state government deployed to monitor them daily for 21 days.

Almost 20 years after the demise of Archbishop Benson Andrew Idahosa, the General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, Thursday night lauded the temperances of Nigeria's chief TV minister, creator and father of Pentecostalism.


Speaking on a topic, “Jericho walls must fall down” at the ongoing 65th annual convention of the church, Pastor Adeboye went memory lane to relive the early life of the man described as the greatest African ambassador of the apostolic Christian faith to the world.

Illustrating his point that when God proposes something great for some people, enemies will bring all manner of problem to block their way, pointing out that God knew that Idahosa was going to be a great evangelist and the devil also had a rough idea, so he put an obstruction on his way. According to him, “when late Archbishop Benson Idahosa was born, he was very sickly, so sickly that one day his mother said, since this boy was going to die, let him stop wasting my time.

She dumped him on the dunghill. The mother went to check him on the second day to see if he had died, but the boy was alive. “The mother said stop troubling me. When the mother went there after third day, the boy was still alive without any food, so she brought him home and that boy became the great Archbishop Benson Idahosa.”

He said, “there is something mighty that is within you that the devil is trying to prevent from happening but I can assure you that God will remove such wall of Jericho.” Continuing, Adeboye who abandoned his Ph.D in applied mathematics for the pulpit, also illustrated his message with initial financial challenges that confronted Bill Gates, a co-founder of Microsoft and an American business magnate, investor, author and philanthropist.

Adeboye argued that as a student, Gates was thinking about computer, he had the idea but he had no money to bring the idea to fruition. He had to borrow money from his friend. “Can you imagine…”suppose Bill Gates died without the computer, can you imagine where the world would be today.”

The General Overseer, noted for his humility, also used his life history to illustrate the point, saying “my mother was a very strong woman. God bless her memory. She had three daughters and a son and she told my daddy that was all. And when my mother said that’s all, that’s all and period. I was not born yet and she said that’s all.

“Later, the only son she had died and she was advised to try again one more time, that she never could tell the baby might be a boy and that was how I was born….I know that God has a thousand ways whereas man has no one but one thing is clear, because I was born, that is why you are here today. “There is something great that God wants to do through you and whatever God has to remove so that you will reach that goal, He will remove them,” he said, giving one more illustration.

“Several years ago, Pastor Kunle Ajayi (saxophonist and Director of Music at the Redeemed Christian Church of God) was dying, the mother thought she was going to lose him. I smiled and said she did not know who she gave birth to,” Adeboye said, emphasising the need for Christians to praise God at all times.

“The only thing you need to do is to praise the One, Who is destiny maker. Moses was a song writer and a singer. David was an instrumentalist, singer and song writer, Hannah was also a song writer.” . According to him, there is something called destiny, and it simply means the purpose of God for your life.

“God said to Jeremiah before I formed thee, I knew thee, I had already sanctified and ordained thee prophet to the nations. God is a builder and like every good builder, He builds according to plan, He does not begin to build until the plan is ready, before He formed you, before your father met your mother, God had a plan for your life and the good news is that the plan is a good one and not that of evil for you to fulfil your destiny.

“God told Moses that His plan for his life was for him to bring Israelites out of Egypt to worship Him on a mountain. Concerning David, his destiny was that he was going to be king, God had planned it that he would be king. God told Joshua that His purpose for his destiny, is to take Israelites to the promised land and divide the land for them. “The wall of Jericho is that thing that stands between you and the fulfilment of your destiny, anything blocking your way to destiny is wall of Jericho.

For example, Moses’ wall of Jericho was the Red Sea and that is why God breath on the Red Sea and it parted because God had spoken that Moses would bring His people to worship on the mountain. “On the part of David, as soon as he was anointed King, devil tried to stop his destiny.

He sent a lion and bear which David killed and then he sent Goliath who wanted to get over the throne before David could get there. Goliath was the wall of Jericho for David. He wanted to block him from fulfilling his destiny but at the end of the day, David cut off the head of Goliath. “When Joshua got to Jericho and saw the big wall, he was confused but God instructed him on what to do and by the time Joshua followed the instruction, the wall of Jericho fell down,” Adeboye preached.

As indicated by him, "God knows the end from the earliest starting point. He knows about all that will transpire in life. Subsequently, don't be shaken by the traps of the adversary. Before they assembled the mass of Jericho, God was around, He knew a day was coming when Joshua would go through it. Thus it is with all of you"

She warned the people around the president not to plunge the country into another crisis but rather allow him to resign honorably.

The most dangerous and hidden ritualist's den has been revealed at Obadeyi Ajala region of Ijaiye, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.

Many onlookers were noticed at the scene of the incident, which, shocked many residents.
It was gathered that a passers-by had heard female’s voice in the early hours of Tuesday crying for help.


After noticing that the cry was coming from the underground where the canal is linked at Obadeyi bus stop, Ijaiye, she had to draw the attention of other passers-by to the woman’s cry for help.


The police were said to have been alerted and came to the scene and rescued the victims and apprehended the culprits found.

“The police were able to uncover the hiding place where the suspects carried out their evil acts with the aid of soldiers who invaded the secluded territory. By 10.00am, the crowd had already tripled. Onlookers from Agege, Sango, Ifo had arrived Obadeyi area in Ojokoro to witness the incidence.


“It took several hours to dig into the den where the suspects had hidden their victims; about two persons were rescued and taken to the hospital, as they appeared unconscious.

Since security agents were already on the ground, angry mob were prevented from carrying out a mob attack on the suspect, who refused to confess to the crime,” an eye witness who craved anonymity said that......................
