Education10 Most Important Things You Need To Note Before Renting An Hostel On Campus by Gistboy120(op): 10:01am On Jan 23, 2018

After successfully getting an admission into your desired university. What's left now is for you is to pay/rent an hostel space or you live off campus.
Getting it right at the beginning of renting your hostel is very important. This is because you don’t want to be stuck in crazy terms and fees that comes with renting the wrong hostel from the wrong hostel manager/agents.

TABLE OF CONTENTS
1. What is the state of electricity Supply
2. What is the security situation of the area
3. How much will you pay subsequently
4. What does the Water situation look like
5. Is the place calm and quite
6. Availability of Water supply
7. Friendlyness of the rules and regulation
8. Ask for the direct person in charge
9. Ask for a receipt after payment

10 MOST IMPORTANT QUESTIONS YOU NEED TO NOTE BEFORE RENTING AN HOSTEL ON CAMPUS

1. What is the state of electricity Supply
You have to know what type of electricity is being used in the hostel. Some hostels don’t have prepaid meter. So their connection is direct and the occupants might be paying extra fee on a monthly basis. Other hostels, most especially the news ones usually have a prepaid meter that allow occupants to recharge the meter based on the amount of electricity they use every month. In all cases, ask if the electricity bill is already included in your annual rent before making payment. If the bill has not been included, ask what the monthly fee is and the proper channel for making payment. Also note that some hostels might have outstanding bills and you don’t want to be the one paying for what the previous occupants have used.

2. What is the security situation of the area
If you are the type that work/walk late at night, it is advisable to ask people what the security situation in the street is like before making payment. This is important, especially if you are new to the environment. Some areas are prone to attacks or natural hazards. So make sure you ask people around for any possible threats. Some streets also have specific security rules of what time you are allowed to move or not move.

3. How much will you pay subsequently
It is likely that your annual rent for the second year will reduce, usually by 10%. Ask the estate agent/owner so that you won’t be paying any extra fee.

4. Availability of Water supply
Lots of hostels have borehole that are either not working or stolen. Make sure you ask existing occupants of the situation of water and how good the water system is before making payment.

5. How good is the foot Traffic
if you are looking to start a side business in your hostel as a student, you will definitely want a place that have a high traffic of student passing by the hostel on a daily basis. So that your business can get a lot of attention.

6. Is the place calm and quite
If you are an introvert or someone who love silent environment, you should observe the area if it is good for you.

7. Friendlyness of the rules and regulation
If you are renting a private hostel, ask for the existing rules and regulations. Most hostels have a documented rules and regulation that guide the behavior of occupants. There are certain rules that govern the use of the hostel facilities, some rules govern allowed visiting hours and some rules for contributions for example fuel, electricity and cleaning services.

8. Ask for the direct person in charge
Some hostels have 2 to 3 hostel managers at a time. Make sure you ask to be introduced to the person in charge of the hostel and get their contact. This is in case you have any complain.

9. Ask for a receipt after payment
The receipt is the evidence that you’ve make payment for the hostel you are about to get. If you don’t have a receipt, your occupancy might be questionable.

10. Feel free to also add things one need to consider before staying in an hostel.

Health9 Advantages Of Icing Your Face That Works by Gistboy120(op): 9:07am On Jan 22, 2018

An ice cube can soothe pimples, sunburns, and skin inflammation. It reduces redness and swelling and numbs the pain. A face massage with ice cubes can brighten your complexion by boosting circulation. Ice cubes with milk or cucumber can even exfoliate your skin. To relieve puffy eyes, make green tea ice cubes for instant relief. Ice cubes can also prevent wrinkles by tightening the skin. It’ll also create a smoother surface for makeup.

When it comes to beauty hacks, an ice cube is the most underrated product. It’s easy to make and is extremely versatile. Best of all, it is practically free! There’s probably some in your freezer right now.
The effects of using ice cubes on the face are amazing. These 9 advantages of ice cubes for your skin will elevate your beauty routine, making it easier to deal with common skin issues.

Icing your face is quite an easy process. Put a piece of ice in a light cotton cloth and work it all over your face. This should be done in an upward circular motion for the best results.

The 9 benefits of icing your face are:

1. Fat burning
This probably sounds absurd, I assure you it isn’t. thermogenesis methods have been found to burn fat and icing your face is no different. This is achieved by means of the vagus nerve in the face that is intertwined with nerves of the heart and other important nerves of the body. Subjecting the vagus nerve to thermogenesis through the icing of the face, by extension, makes other nerves to follow suit.

2. Improved skin appearance
Icing the face plays a major role in beauty. These beauty benefits are:l;
3. Skin refreshment
After a stressful day, we crave rest with a little tender love and care and this could come in the form of massages. The use of ice cube on your face makes you relaxed and refreshed while massaging your face muscles, making you look and feel less tired.

4. Treatment of inflammation
The skin on our face is several times thinner and more sensitive than that on our body and is, in some cases, the most exposed to the harshness of the sun and pollution. This gives the face blisters and is more prone to breakouts as Sun exposure also has a way of opening up the facial pores. Icing the face not only treats inflammation but also speeds up the process of healing cuts and bruises as it clots the blood to the injury. It also closes the pores of the face, making it less prone to breakouts and tightens the face.

5. Acne treatment
The use of ice on acne prone skin is very much recommended. Acne may result due to hypersensitivity to the chemicals in cosmetics and exposure to the sun takes advantage of this and damages the skin even further. Use face ice treatment to treat the burns. Ice also cleanses the pores and closes them, reducing the occurrence of acne and pimples.

6. Tightens the skin and gives a radiant glow
If you make face ice method a daily routine of about five minutes, it tightens your skin overtime and reduces wrinkles and minimize fine lines. It also wards off dullness in the face, making the face have a radiant glow.

7. Easy and affordable
Ice face treatment is easy to do and requires no professional help so you need not go to the spa for this. It can be done in the comfort of your home. The materials needed are ice and a small piece of cotton cloth (perhaps a handkerchief) and these are definitely more cost friendly than the everyday cosmetics.
I’d like to think and I hope that after today, you make this a part of your beauty regimen from time to time so that you may gain from these benefits.

8. Soothe Sunburns
cucumber ice cubes to soothe sun burn
Had too much fun in the sun? You probably didn’t notice the sunburns until you settled in to rest. These sunburns can ruin the quality of your skin and also make it really painful. Aloe vera ice cubes might just be one of the best remedies for this. The cooling effect of aloe will feel absolutely amazing on sunburns. Don’t have aloe? Try ice cubes made of pureed cucumber. Cucumber has the antioxidant vitamin C.

9. Relieve Puffy Eyes
green tea ice cubes for puffy eyes
Any form of cold packs is an amazing remedy for puffy or tired eyes. And these include plain ice cubes or those made out of milk or green tea. However, since the skin around the eyes is delicate, the cubes should not be used for a long duration.

Health13 Best Remedy For Sore Throat by Gistboy120(op): 10:02am On Jan 20, 2018

A sore throat can be very uncomfortable.
The main symptom is pain and irritation in the throat, especially when you swallow.
A sore throat occurs as part of your body's immune response to viral or bacterial infections.
Your natural immune response leads to inflammation and swelling of the mucous membranes in the throat.

Before we proceed I'll like to give you an overview of what a sore throat it.

What's a Sore Throat?
Sore throat is pain, scratchiness or irritation of the throat that often worsens when you swallow. The most common cause of a sore throat (pharyngitis) is a viral infection, such as a cold or the flu. A sore throat caused by a virus resolves on its own.
Strep throat (streptococcal infection), a less common type of sore throat caused by bacteria, requires treatment with antibiotics to prevent complications. Other less common causes of sore throat might require more complex treatment.

Symptoms Of Sore throat
Anatomy of the throat
Throat anatomy
Symptoms of a sore throat can vary depending on the cause.
Signs and symptoms might include:
-Pain or a scratchy sensation in the throat
-Pain that worsens with swallowing or talking
-Difficulty swallowing
-Sore, swollen glands in your neck or jaw
-Swollen, red tonsils
-White patches or pus on your tonsils
-Hoarse or muffled voice

Common infections causing a sore throat might result in other signs and symptoms, including:
-Fever
-Cough
-Runny nose
-Sneezing
-Body aches
-Headache
-Nausea or vomiting

Causes Of Sore throat
Viruses that cause the common cold and flu (influenza) also cause most sore throats. Less often, bacterial infections cause sore throats.
Viral infections

Viral illnesses that cause a sore throat include:
-Common cold
-Flu (influenza)
-Mononucleosis (mono)
-Measles
-Chickenpox
Croup — a common childhood illness characterized by a harsh, barking cough
Bacterial infections Of Sore throat

A number of bacterial infections can cause a sore throat. The most common is Streptococcus pyogenes, or group A streptococcus, which causes strep throat.
Other causes of Sore throat

Other causes of a sore throat include:
Allergies. Allergies to pet dander, molds, dust and pollen can cause a sore throat. The problem may be complicated by postnasal drip, which can irritate and inflame the throat.

Dryness. Dry indoor air, especially when buildings are heated, can make your throat feel rough and scratchy, particularly in the morning when you wake up. Breathing through your mouth — often because of chronic nasal congestion — also can cause a dry, sore throat.

Irritants. Outdoor air pollution can cause ongoing throat irritation. Indoor pollution — tobacco smoke or chemicals — also can cause a chronic sore throat. Chewing tobacco, drinking alcohol and eating spicy foods also can irritate your throat.

Muscle strain. You can strain muscles in your throat by yelling, such as at a sporting event; talking loudly; or talking for long periods without rest.

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). GERD is a digestive system disorder in which stomach acids or other contents of the stomach back up in the food pipe (esophagus). Other signs or symptoms may include heartburn, hoarseness, regurgitation of stomach contents and the sensation of a lump in your throat.

HIV infection. A sore throat and other flu-like symptoms sometimes appear early after someone is infected with HIV. Also, someone who is HIV-positive might have a chronic or recurring sore throat due to a secondary infection, such as a fungal infection called oral thrush and cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection, a common viral infection that can be serious in people with compromised immune systems.

Both oral thrush and CMV can occur in anyone, but they're more likely to cause a sore throat and other symptoms in people with weakened immune systems.
Tumors. Cancerous tumors of the throat, tongue or voice box (larynx) can cause a sore throat. Other signs or symptoms may include hoarseness, difficulty swallowing, noisy breathing, a lump in the neck, and blood in saliva or phlegm.

Rarely, an infected area of tissue (abscess) in the throat causes a sore throat. Another rare cause of a sore throat is a condition that occurs when the small cartilage "lid" that covers the windpipe swells, blocking airflow (epiglottitis). Both causes can block the airway, creating a medical emergency.

Fortunately, there are several natural remedies that may provide relief, including some that are supported by scientific evidence.

Here are 13 Best Remedy For Sore Throat
1. Marshmallow root
The marshmallow plant has been used to treat sore throats and other conditions since the Middle Ages.
Its root contains a gelatin-like substance known as mucilage, which coats and lubricates the throat when you swallow it.
Lozenges containing marshmallow root have been tested in animals and found to be effective and nontoxic, even at very high doses.
Here is a recipe for a cold marshmallow root infusion to soothe a painful throat:
Marshmallow root infusion

Ingredients:
Cold water.
1 ounce (28 grams) dried marshmallow root.
Directions:
Fill a 1-quart (1-liter) jar with cold water.
Place the marshmallow root in cheesecloth and tie up in a bundle.
Lower the bundle into the water just until it's completely submerged in the water.
Place the tied end of the bundle over the lip of the jar, place the lid on the jar and screw on the lid.
Infuse overnight, or for at least eight hours, and then remove the bundle.
Pour desired amount into a glass. Add sweetener of choice, if desired.
When this is ready, you can sip on it throughout the day to help reduce your symptoms.
Bottom line: Marshmallow has been used to treat sore throats since ancient times. Its root contains a gelatinous substance called mucilage, which coats and soothes the throat.

2. Sage and echinacea
Although you may know sage as an herb used in cooking, it also has several medicinal uses.
Sage originated in the Mediterranean and is now grown throughout the world.
It has been used to treat many inflammatory conditions, and controlled studies suggest it can help relieve throat pain.
In one study, a sage-echinacea spray was actually slightly more effective at reducing throat pain than a chlorhexidine lidocaine spray. Neither treatment caused negative side effects.
Echinacea is another herb that is widely used in traditional medicine. It has been shown to fight bacteria and reduce inflammation.
Follow this recipe to make your own sage-echinacea throat spray at home:
Sage-echinacea throat spray

Ingredients:
1 teaspoon ground sage.
1 teaspoon ground echinacea.
1/2 cup water.
Directions:
Boil water.
Place sage and echinacea in a small jar and then fill with boiling water.
Let steep for 30 minutes.
Pour mixture through strainer and then combine with 1/2 cup hard liquor (skip the liquor if you are an alcoholic or prefer to avoid alcohol for any reason).
Place in small spray bottle and spray into throat every two hours or as needed.
Bottom line: A sage-echinacea spray has been shown to relieve sore throat discomfort as effectively as antiseptic medication spray.

3. Apple cider vinegar
Apple cider vinegar is a natural health tonic that's been used in folk medicine remedies for centuries. Its main active ingredient, acetic acid, helps fight bacteria.
The ancient Greek physician Hippocrates, known as the father of medicine, even prescribed a combination of apple cider vinegar and honey - known as oxymel - to treat flu symptoms such as coughs and sore throats.
To help relieve throat pain, drink 1 cup of warm water mixed with 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and an optional tablespoon of honey.
Bottom line: Apple cider vinegar has antibacterial properties and may help provide sore throat relief when consumed in small amounts with warm water.

4. Salt water gargle
Gargling with salt water is a well-known natural remedy to get rid of a sore throat.
The salt helps reduce swelling by pulling water out of your throat tissue. It may also help kill unwanted microbes in your throat.
Combine 1 cup of warm water with 1 teaspoon of salt and stir to dissolve. Gargle with a mouthful of this mixture for 30 seconds, once per hour.
Bottom line: Gargling hourly with warm salt water helps reduce swelling and may ease throat discomfort.

5. Honey
Honey is a delicious sweetener that is often used in combination with other natural ingredients to soothe a sore throat.
In addition to helping fight infection and providing pain relief, honey can undeniably make remedies taste better.
Honey may be especially effective when combined with warm water and apple cider vinegar or herbs.
However, it shouldn't be given to children under the age of one because their guts haven't had a chance to acquire healthy bacteria that can fight off germs, such as botulism spores, that are sometimes found in honey.
Also, people who avoid sugar or follow a low-carb diet may want to choose another remedy, since honey is a form of sugar and contains 17 grams of carbs per tablespoon (15 ml).
Bottom line: Honey can help relieve throat pain, particularly when combined with vinegar or herbs in warm water.

6. Licorice root
Licorice root with mortar and pestle
Licorice is a plant native to Europe and South Asia.
Interestingly, it has been used in traditional medicine to treat many disorders.
Licorice has properties similar to aspirin that may help reduce sore throat pain.
Unfortunately, there isn't any research on its ability to relieve illness-related sore throats.
However, studies on individuals who had just undergone major surgery found that licorice significantly reduced throat pain due to breathing tube removal.
One study found that gargling with licorice water prior to surgery reduced the risk of getting a sore throat by 50%, compared to gargling with sugar water.
Licorice root tea can be purchased at natural grocery stores or from online retailers.
You can also make your own to drink or gargle. Combine ground licorice root with hot water, let it steep for five minutes, then strain it prior to drinking.
Bottom line: Licorice root has aspirin-like qualities and may help soothe a sore throat when gargled or consumed as a tea.

Bottom line: Lemon water contains vitamin C and compounds that can soothe a sore throat and assist with healing.

Let steep for 10 minutes.
Add sweetener and lemon juice, then stir to combine.
This tea can be reheated as needed, or served cold.
Bottom line: Ginger root tea may help fight infection, reduce inflammation and relieve sore throat pain.

9. Coconut oil
Coconut oil is a versatile food with several health benefits.
Animal studies suggest that it may help fight infection, reduce inflammation and relieve pain.
Coconut oil is also very soothing because it helps lubricate the mucous membranes in the throat.
Here are a few ideas you can try:
Add a spoonful to hot tea or hot cocoa.
Add a spoonful to soup.
Simply put a spoonful in your mouth and allow it to melt down your throat.
It's best to limit coconut oil to about 2 tablespoons (30 ml) per day, as it can have a laxative effect at higher dosages. If you've never tried coconut oil, start out taking 1 teaspoon (5 ml) at a time to minimize potential side effects.
Bottom line: Coconut oil is very soothing on the throat, has anti-inflammatory effects and may help your body fight infection. Take up to 2 tablespoons (30 ml) per day alone or in warm beverages.

10. Cinnamon
Cinnamon is a fragrant and delicious spice that's high in antioxidants and provides antibacterial benefits.
It's a traditional remedy for colds and flus and is used in Chinese medicine to ease sore throat pain.
Cinnamon tea is available for purchase in most grocery stores in both herbal and regular varieties. You can also add cinnamon to herbal or black tea.
Another delicious option is to make your own cinnamon almond milk, which may be especially soothing on your throat.

1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) ground cinnamon.
1/8 teaspoon (0.6 ml) baking soda.
1 tablespoon (15 ml) honey or sweetener of choice.

Add almond milk and mix again until well combined.
Heat mixture until it just begins to simmer, then remove from heat.
Stir in sweetener.

11. Plenty of fluids
When your throat hurts, the last thing you may feel like doing is drinking a lot of fluids.
However, it's important to keep your throat's mucous membranes hydrated so they can heal.
While swallowing may be uncomfortable, drinking plenty of water or other fluids will ultimately make your throat feel better.

CelebritiesPopular Hollywood Star Aziz Ansari Replies To Sexual Misconduct Allegations by Gistboy120(op): 10:11am On Jan 15, 2018

Aziz Ansari most popular as the creator ofMaster of None and his role in Parks and Recreation has come out to respond to allegations of sexual misconduct.
A New-York based photographer accused the star of sexual misconduct after the two went on a date six months ago. Speaking to Babe, she said; “In a second, his hand was on my breast,” she recalls.

“It was 30 minutes of me getting up and moving and him following and sticking his fingers down my throat again. It was really repetitive. It felt like a fucking game … most of my discomfort was expressed in me pulling away and mumbling. I know that my hand stopped moving at some points, I stopped moving my lips and turned cold.”

The woman says Ansari was initially okay with her refusal to take things further, but he then later allegedly continued to try to get her to sleep with him. “He sat back and pointed to his penis and motioned for me to go down on him. And I did,” she continues. “I think I just felt really pressured. It was literally the most unexpected thing I thought would happen at that moment because I told him I was uncomfortable.”

Ansari on his part has come out with a statement defending himself.
He said; “In September of last year, I met a woman at a party. We exchanged numbers. We texted back and forth and eventually went on a date. We went out to dinner, and afterwards we ended up engaging in sexual activity, which by all indications was completely consensual.

“The next day, I got a text from her saying that although ‘it may have seemed okay,’ upon further reflection, she felt uncomfortable. It was true that everything did seem okay to me, so when I heard that it was not the case for her, I was surprised and concerned. I took her words to heart and responded privately after taking the time to process what she had said.

“I continue to support the movement that is happening in our culture. It is necessary and long overdue.”

AFTER almost 20 years these siblings have finally found their father’s final resting place.
Bethuel Maanaso disappeared many years ago and was living with a woman he met before he died. Jobshandle media published his story in November headlined, “Dad wants proper funeral”.

His death certificate stated he was laid to rest in Brakpan when he was actually buried in Tweefontein, near Kwamhlanga, Mpumalanga.

Bethuel’s daughter, Daphney Maake (35) from KwaThema in Ekurhuleni, said the family will finally have peace.
She told the SunTeam she last saw her father in 1994.
“Finding my father’s grave will bring peace to the family.
“We have been looking for his grave for many years now.
“We have been to municipal offices and cemeteries but could not find him.
“Now we can finally breathe a sigh of relief.
“The family will have to sit down and discuss a way forward.
“We want to discuss whether we should bury him again since he always appeared in our dreams begging for a dignified funeral.”
Bethuel’s son, Morape Mammila (44), said he last spoke to his father in the early 80s.
To his surprise, they lived less than five kilometres away from each other for many years but never met.
His father was living in Tweefontein G, while he was in neighbouring Thembalethu.
“I am shocked we lived in neighbouring villages but never bumped into each other.
“I lived in Thembalethu for many years before my job forced me to move to Tshwane.
“I even got married there.
“When my father died, I was still living there.”
Sarah Jiyane (66), the woman who lived with Bethuel and had children with him, said she tried her best to find his family after he died.
She said she is happy Bethuel’s family finally knows where their father was laid to rest.

Sara said Bethuel died on duty while working as a security guard in Brakpan.
