Lauratu committed the crime on Thursday night. According to the victim, Malam Aliyu Ibrahim Fayan-fayan, he had told his wife his intentions of adding a new wife and she celebrated with him with prayers.

He added that after he noticed the way his wife was happy about the news, he gave her some money to buy some things to share to family and friends as culture demands.

In an interview with DailyTrust, he said: “Since the time I told her about my plan to marry another wife, I did not see any change of attitude from her and we had been living together peacefully. .

In fact, she promised me that she would be among those that would buy the wedding items for the bride. Last night after I returned home, I bought some meat for them. .
.
I met her boiling the water, but I had no idea what she was going to use it for. I was relaxing, when she suddenly brought the hot water and poured it around my private part.”

Ibrahim, who is currently receiving treatment at the Danbatta General Hospital, said he has 10 children with his wife.

A 6-year-old girl has been rushed to the Ondo State specialist hospital in Okitipupa, due to excessive bleeding as a result of being violently raped by a notorious man identified as Jimmy.

The incident happened, yesterday, in Irele and the perpetrator is currently on run. The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, has now charged the Ondo State Police Command to swing into action and bring the perpetrator to book.

According to an eyewitness, the police is not ready to take up the case and the girl was initially returned to her parents. Her father is identified as Tosin Abosede and his contact number is given as O8148543959.

A woman, Laura Inmanze, who allegedly defrauded a Bureau de Change operator, Nura Mustapha, of N4.2 million, was on Wednesday brought before a Tinubu Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.

Inmanze, 24, was arraigned by the police before Mrs A. M. Olumide-Fusika on a two-count charge of obtaining money under false pretences and theft.

Prosecuting Inspector Ben Ekundayo alleged that the defendant committed the offences at about 2:30pm on June 21, at 7, Kalama Street, Lagos Island.

Ekundayo said the defendant and her husband, Tony (who is at large), obtained £9,000 Pounds from Nura Mustapha, a Bureau de Change operator, with the pretext of sending him the naira equivalent of N4.` million.

“Tony, a client of Mustapha, called him to send £9,000, that he had sent the naira equivalent to his wife’s account, who was on her way to Lagos from Owerri.

“Mustapha called the defendant to know if N4.2 million was truly sent to her account and she confirmed that her husband sent the money to her, so Mustapha forwarded the money to Tony’s account based on self-recognition.

“When the defendant arrived in Lagos and was asked for the money, she started giving excuses, tried to escape and was arrested,” he said.

According to Ekundayo, offences contravened Sections 287 and 314 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

Magistrate, Mrs Olumide-Fusika granted the defendant N1 million bail with two sureties in the like sum, among other conditions.

The case continues on August 7.

The President of Nigeria Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated the Super Eagles of Nigeria for their resilience and eventual victory against South Africa to get to the semi-final stage of Nations Cup.

Buhari shared his congratulatory message after the victory on Wednesday even as he hopes that the three times African champions will go ahead to win the Nations cup with two more victories.

“Congratulations to the Super Eagles on a well-deserved victory over South Africa, tonight. You represent the resilient and indomitable Nigerian spirit.

“Two more victories, and the coveted Trophy will come home to us. All Nigerians are looking forward eagerly,” the President shared on his tweeter handle @Mbuhari

William Troost-Ekong scored a dramatic late winner to send Nigeria into the Africa Cup of Nations semi-final at the expense of South Africa.

Samuel Chukwueze hit the opener as he controlled Alex Iwobi’s cross, before scoring at the second attempt.

Bongani Zungu equalised with a header initially ruled out for offside before VAR replays showed a free-kick hit a Nigerian player on the way to him.

But Udinese’s Troost-Ekong bundled home from close range late on to win it.

His finish was into an empty net after goalkeeper Ronwen Williams totally missed Moses Simon’s corner.

Nigeria face Ivory Coast or Algeria in Sunday’s second semi-final (20:00 BST).

The Super Eagles were deserved winners and led through Villarreal youngster Chukwueze’s first goal for his country. They should have been ahead by more when Williams pushed Peter Etebo’s free-kick onto the bar.

Zungu’s goal was the first in the Africa Cup of Nations given by the VAR, which has just been introduced for the quarter-finals. It looked offside initially but Percy Tau’s free-kick hit Nigeria’s Odion Ighalo on the way on to Amiens midfielder Zungu’s head.

The game looked set for extra time before Williams flapped at a cross to leave Troost-Ekong with a simple finish.

Senegal, who beat Benin 1-0 earlier on Wednesday, play either Madagascar or Tunisia in the other semi-final.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibadan zonal office, on Wednesday, July 10, 2019 arrested 30 suspected internet fraudsters.
The suspects were apprehended at different locations within the city of Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital during an early morning raid carried out by operatives of the anti-graft agency.

The operation was sequel to a deluge of intelligence reports available to the Commission on their alleged fraudulent activities.

According to the reports, many people have fallen victim to the tricks of the suspects, who exploit their dexterity on the use of the internet to allegedly commit crime.
Ranging between the ages of 18 and 27 years, 11 of the suspects claimed to be undergraduates, while others said they are self-employed in various vocations.

Items recovered from them include eight exotic cars, laptops, mobile phones and several documents suspected to contain information used to access their victims.

The suspects are already providing useful information to aid further investigations.
They will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.

Photos from this elderly couples wedding which took place in Zaria state recently has gotten Nigerians all emotional on social media.

According to Facebook user, Chinecherem Ebubechi, who shared their photos online, the groom is a 73-year-old Nigerian Evangelist, Matthew Owojaiye, while his bride is 63 year old Abosede Ayobola.

According to Chinecherem, this was the bride's first wedding. The couple met 50 years ago. The groom had asked her out at the time but she turned him down. Many years later, they met again, found out they were both single and decided to give love a chance.

They got married at the Living Faith Church in Zaria in front of family members and friends.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arraigned one Dr. Nkereuwem Akpan Etok before Justice A. A. Okeke of the Federal High Court sitting in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, on a 5-count charge bordering on abuse of office and money laundering.

The accused who doubles as the Director and Project Manager of Akwa Ibom State Agency for Control of AIDS, was arrested on Thursday, May 23, 2019, following series of reports of how he embezzled N30m (Thirty Million Naira), released to his agency in 2018, by the office of the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Akwa Ibom State, for outreach, sensitization, HIV testing/counselling and purchase of screening and confirmatory test tie breaker.

Investigations into the matter revealed that the accused used less than N6, 000, 000 for the purpose for which the N30, 000, 000 was released and diverted the rest of the funds for personal purposes.

One of the counts against the accused reads, "That you Dr. Nkereuwem Akpan Etok between 26th and 28th November, 2018 at Uyo within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, while being Director and Project Supervisor of Akwa Ibom State Agency for the Control of AIDS did convert a total sum of N24,700,200.00 (Twenty-four million, seven hundred thousand, two hundred naira only) knowing that the said fund is a proceed of your unlawful act and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 15 (2) (a) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, 2011 (as amended)".

He pleaded not guilty to the 5 counts.

In view of his plea, the prosecuting counsel, Adebayo Soares, prayed the court to remand the accused in prison and fix a date for trial.

The court then adjourned to October 16 and 17, 2019, and also ordered that the accused be remanded in prison custody.

Similarly, Justice Okeke remanded two others, Ekerette Emmanuel and Christopher Uko Ebong, for dealing in petroleum products without licence.

Veteran Nollywood actor, Richard Mofe-Damijo has aired his views on the trending case of Timi Dakolo’s wife rape scandal.

RMD as he is fondly called urged those criticising Busola Dakolo, who early on Friday in an interview revealed that she was raped by pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo, of COZA ministries, not to be too quick to judge her.

He added that Timi Dakolo is a real man for standing besides his wife to help me through this trying times.

In an Instagram post, he wrote:

“Two sides to a story does NOT invalidate the truth of the abused, the molested, the hurting. Do NOT be quick to rebut someone’s pain. Do NOT speak too hastily for someone who can speak for themselves. Do NOT expect a rape story to make sense to you because when a predator strikes, the circumstances are not his first thoughts.
