The Imo State Police Command Thursday paraded 72 suspects believed to be behind the recent wave of criminalities across the State.

The Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Ladodo, said that the suspects were picked at different points within the state and beyond within the last six weeks.

He said that the clampdown on criminal elements in the state is in line with the “Operation Puff Adder” launched by the Inspector General of Police, which he said is still in force.

According to him, 22 kidnap victims were rescued, while 11 stolen vehicles were recovered within the time under review.

Among those paraded were members of a notorious kidnap syndicate that specializes in the abduction of under aged children at their homes, often times in the dead of the night.

The suspects, Chukwuemeka Onyebuchi (43) and Aina Nwachukwu aged 45, were arrested on a tipoff after they stole two minors, Oluwa Chukwu Opanwa (4) and Promise Opanwa (2), both female of the same parents at Umuobum in Ideato South Council Area of the state.

According to the CP, the Police are on the trail of other fleeing members of the gang; while efforts are on to recover the stolen children.

Also arrested, was a member of a gang of serial rapists, Stanley Ebere, who participated in the gang rape of an 11-year old girl in the company of the fleeing members of the gang.

A bridge in Bayelsa state which serves as a link between Elebele community and Otuoke community collapsed earlier today (September 5) as a truck attempted to crossover.

The incident left many stranded after the truck conveying building materials damaged the narrow bridge linking the two communities.

The Ogbia Brotherhood Youth Council who shared the photos online have advised people in both communities to take alternative routes as they appeal to the government to come to their aid.

Brother Naija, BBNaija, housemate, Seyi on Thursday engaged in a heated argument with fellow housemate, Tacha.

It all started after Tacha got angry at Seyi for shouting her name and knocking at the door asking her for a smoothie.

Angry Tacha shouted at Seyi, warning him not to try such again, adding that no housemate in the house is permitted to shout her name.

In response, Seyi said, “I’m really disappointed with someone who does not know how to say the truth at first hand. “I’m very disappointed in you Tacha; last las na strike you go get because of this issue. “I will make sure you get that third strike,” Seyi said.

The police on Wednesday arraigned a restaurant manager, Nosa Okupoji, at an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for allegedly stealing N8 million from his employer.

Okupoji, 25, whose address was not given, is charged with two counts of theft and breach of the peace.

Prosecuting Corporal Godspower Ehizoba told the court that the defendant committed the alleged offence between December 2018 and August 2019, at about 8am and 9:30pm at 18B, Emmanuel Abimbola Cole Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.

He alleged that the defendant stole N8 million from a restaurant, Delta Pot Cuisine.

Ehizoba said the offence contravened sections 168 (d) and 287 (7) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Okupoji pleaded not guilty.

Magistrate M. F. Onamusi admitted the defendant to N1million bail with two sureties in the like sum.

She said one of the sureties must be related to the defendant and must be employed.

Onamusi adjourned the case till October 8.

Tears flowed uncontrollably, yesterday, at Our Lady Queen of Peace Cathedral, Jalingo, Taraba State, when the Catholic community buried Rev Fr David Tanko, who was murdered and burnt by gunmen last week.

The 42-year-old cleric, who was the presiding priest of St. Peters Parish, Ahmadu, met his death at Kpankufu village, between Kasuan Haske and Tortse, while returning from a peace meeting to resolve the ongoing feud between the Tiv and Jukuns in the state.

The Bishop of Catholic Diocese, Jalingo, Most Rev. Charles Hammawa, who presided over the mass for his final interment, described the deceased as a lover of peace, who paid the supreme price with his life in the most inhuman way.

According to him, “we are only strengthened and comforted by our Christian faith of surrendering all things to God our faith in the resurrection of the dead and life everlasting.

“Fr David was part of the peace efforts initiated by me the Bishop of the Diocese of Jalingo to help in bringing an end to the fight between the Tiv and Jukun.

“He was a good man, a good priest, diligent, hardworking, amiable and peaceful. He never sets out to offend anyone and was also a prayerful person.

“He is the kind of person Nigeria needs to come out of the quagmire and mess we are in today. A person who will serve selflessly without any bias.

“I am convinced that he is already with God in heaven and interceding for us and for the end of hostilities, violence and unwanted killings.

“May his death signal the beginning of the end of all this ugly and despicable human acts.”

Speaking further, Bishop Hammawa charged government at all levels to be alive in their statutory responsibility of the protection of lives and properties.

A Shoprite outlet in Akure, Ondo State, has been forced to shut down over fears of a possible attack by angry youths in the city.

Scores of youths had besieged the popular mall to register their anger over attacks on Nigerians and other African migrants in South Africa.

The angry youths chanted solidarity songs for several hours and tried to force their way into the facility but were prevented by security personnel at the shopping complex.

During a visit to the mall on Tuesday evening by SaharaReporters correspondent, policemen could be seen parading the area.

One of the aggrieved protesters, Paul Oluwatobi, said he decided to take part in the demonstration due to disturbing footages on the Internet showing how Nigerians were being maimed and their investments destroyed by South Africans.

He said, "We have been watching lots of disturbing videos on the social media showing how Nigerians are being killed in South Africa.

"So, we came to the mall to register our displeasure.

"It is wickedness and inhuman to be killing Nigerians and Africans in South Africa."

Today's Head of House Challenge saw the Pepper Dem Gang engage in a Game of throwing. One by one, each Housemate stepped forward to the stool where 22 cups of water were placed. The person with the most accurate throw, whose ball entered the cup and stayed there became the HoH for the week.

The Throw

The first Housemate to go was Mike and on a second try, he got it right. Then went Khafi who tried it before the buzzer was sounded. Like Mike, she too made it on the second try. Same with Elozonam. Venita, Mercy, Omashola and Cindy, but theirs were on a first attempt, except Frodd who whose ball jumped off the cup.

It's The Second Round

The second round saw Cindy, Mike, Seyi, Venita and Khafi and Tacha eased out of the Game after failed attempts. Elozonam got it right the second time. Interestingly, the Icy pair were so lucky they each got it right at the first try. Omashola too was lucky.

The Fierce Third Round

Ike, Elozonam, Mercy and Omashola were ready for the battle. On his third attempt, Elozonam got it right. With Ike and Mercy getting it right again, we imagine how fun it would be if Biggie decided to have two winners. Sadly, Omashola eased out after three failed attempts.

The Failed Attempts

After a series of three more rounds, no winner emerged. The three contenders got it right, despite the removal of four cups. These guys were really determined. This made Biggie decide to remove four more cups. But after this, none of them got it right.

Biggie's Kindness

For this round, they were allowed to move a bit closer to the table. But little did we know that this would mark Elozonam's end of the Game. For Mercy and Ike, it was a fight to the finish, as their throws were accurate again. With Elozonam out of the race, we wonder if it's still necessary for the Icy pair to continue. After all, a win for Ike is a win for Mercy.

A Joint Win

As the last (wo)man standing, Mercy and Ike were given the chance to decide who should wear the Immunity privilege. As a caring lady, Mercy told him that she was willing to let go. For this reason, Ike and Mercy were declared, for the first time, the joint Heads of House. They also got 250 Bet9ja Coins. Congratulations to the Icy pair!

A middle-aged woman who poured hot water on the private part of a little girl living with her in the Ishasi area of Lagos state has been arrested by the police command for assault.

An IG user, with the handle @_ejembi, reached out to police officer @Opetodolapo and the official handle of Lagos state domestic and Violence team

The lady popularly called mummy Onyi who leaves at Iyana Ishashi, Lagos poured the hot water on the little girl's private part and kept her inside her house for days, attempting to treat the wound and cover up her evil act.

The little girl was rescued and is currently receiving treatment at the state general hospital.

The eagle eye of the neighbour caught up with the woman's activity which made them anonymously report to @opetodolapo and @DSVRT.

The woman, who has been on the run, was arrested this morning.
