President Muhammadu Buhari daughter, Zahra on Friday, stunned guests at a BBC Hausa event when she revealed that she is unable to speak fluently in Hausa, her father’s language.

Mr Buhari is a Hausa man from Daura, an important Hausa city in Katsina. Zahra’s mother, Aisha, is, however, a Fulani from Adamawa.

“I’ll make you laugh,” Zahra, who is married to businessman Ahmed Indimi said, when asked to make a comment at the ceremony officiated in Hausa.

She said she and her siblings rarely communicate in the language.

”Every day my father would correct my Hausa when I converse with him” she said in Hausa amidst laughter.

She said they usually communicate in “Engausa” a colloquial term for mixing of English and Hausa in a conversation.

A man, who searched for a job for six years before getting one, has died in an autocrash one day before he was due to receive his first salary.

Sylvanus Okpanachi reportedly graduated from a tertiary institution in 2013 and couldn't find a job. He hunted for a job for six years before he finally got employed this year. He was due to receive his very first salary on Monday, October 22. Unfortunately, he was killed in a road accident on Sunday, October 20.

A friend who saw him last Friday, two days before his death, shared the story. He told of their last encounter and the last words Mr Okpanachi said to him.

Afe Babalola University (ABUAD) on Monday conferred honourary degrees on top individuals including the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar; the Obi of Onitsha Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe; and the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu.

Tinubu was honoured by the institution for his political acumen and for being a true believer in federalism.

The honourary awardees were subsequently inducted into the alumni association of ABUAD.

Precious Moses, a 300 Level student of the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State, has been scalded with hot water by her flatmate, Flourish Chigwe. It was gathered that trouble started after Precious misplaced Flourish’s drawing board. This degenerated into a misunderstanding, during which she was bathed with hot water.

Not done, Flourish proceeded to bite the victim and allegedly retorted that “your blood is not even sweet.” The school’s management has been notified and Precious is set to meet with her Faculty Dean tomorrow.
