On Friday, May 18, 2018, EFCC secured the conviction of a former Deputy Chief Registrar of the Oyo State High Court, Mutiat Omobola Adio.
Justice O. M. Olagunju of the Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan found the convict guilty on one of a two count charge brought against her. The count which earns the convict a jail term borders on the allegation of obtaining the sum of N9.2 million by false pretence from one Abiodun Rasheed Olonade, Nigerian reident in Ireland.
Adio was sentenced to 7years Imprisonment without an option of fine. The court also ordered that the convict restitute the sum of N9.2m to the victim.
The charge reads:

“that you, Mutiat Omobola Adio on or about the 19th of December, 2016, at Ibadan within the Ibadan judicial Division of this Honourable court with intent to defraud, obtained the sum of Nine million and Two Hundred Thousand Naira (N9,200,000,00) only from one Alhaji Yekini Olonade through Kunle Abimbola by falsely pretending that it was part payment of the cost price of a building and land situate, lying and being at plot 10, Block XXLV, Bashorun Estate, Lagelu Local Government Area, Ibadan which you purported to have sold to him”. .

The police has reportedly nabbed a 27 year old slay queen who faked her own kidnap. According to reliable sources, the newly wedded Kenyan lady swindled her family of wads of cash by pretending to be kidnapped in order to raise money to offset her pending debts.
Upon a distress call made to the police, she was caught while drinking a packet of milk and eating bread after recently defrauding her husband Sh30,000 through a mobile phone transfer.
Upon questioning, it was gathered that she told she told her husband of five months that she was unwell and left to purchase the drugs. She, however, never came back and after a day, somebody called the husband’s number and told him to forward the money to them to have her released.
The family sent the money on Monday only for the “kidnapper” to demand for more or the ‘victim’ would be killed which led to the cry for help to the police.
During investigation, the distraught lady disclosed that she made such move because she wanted the money to pay a debt she owed her former boyfriend.
The detectives at Kitengela Police Station discovered the young woman had booked into a lodging at Mlolongo on Sunday night and was unaccompanied.
A receipt recovered from her showed she had paid Sh1,200 for the two-day accommodation while she waited for her family to come up with the cash.

Wife of the Senate President and founder, Wellbeing Foundation, Mrs. Toyin Saraki, has called on the government to scale up border surveillance to curtail the possible spread of the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD), into the country.
Saraki, who made this known over the weekend at the maiden edition of ‘Walk for Health Challenge’, organised by the World Health Organisation (WHO) in Abuja, maintained that Nigeria was still at risk of contracting the Ebola Virus.
“We are sufficiently now sensitised in Nigeria but we must not rest on our oars. We do have to step up border surveillance to ensure that we know what is going on and who is coming in.
“I have every confidence in the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC). We cannot guarantee that Ebola will come or not come into Nigeria, but what we can do is try to be ready and hope we do not get it” she said. While commending the WHO in providing about 5,000 vaccines in its efforts to contain the disease from further spread to areas not affected in the Democratic Republic of Congo, she urged the citizenry to imbibe a high level of hygiene, especially consistent hand washing with soap both in schools and public places. “We are all ready to work with the NCDC when they bring out their advisory.
One thing we can do is to make sure we have hygiene in our schools, our offices and in our environment,” she added. On his part, the WHO representative to Nigeria, Dr. Wondi Alemu, noted that all necessary precautionary measures were being put in place both by WHO and the Nigerian government, to ensure Ebola does not resurface in Nigeria. “There are preparations from Nigeria.
We are working with the Ministry of Health particular NCDC. We are preparing ourselves and also making the necessary precautionary measures to prevent Ebola from coming into the country.” Alemu also urged all Nigerians to imbibe the habit of regular exercises and other healthy activities aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle.

One of the housemates in the just-concluded edition, Alex has been having it both hot and friendly from foes and friends alike.

Background
My original name is Asogwa Amuche Sandra. However, I didn’t like the name, Sandra, so I changed it to Alexandra though I prefer Alex because it is an uncommon name for a girl. I am from Nsukka in Enugu State. I am the first of my parents’ three children.
One of the childhood memories I cherish was when I celebrated my birthday at a place called Mr Fans in Lagos. It was really nice and I think I still have some pictures. I also remember my experience during the Ikeja Cantonment bomb blasts in 2001. It was a very terrible experience for me because we had a family outing that day. Till this day, I still have goose pimples whenever I think about that incident. My childhood ambition was to become a celebrity.
Education
For my elementary education, I attended Shalom Nursery and Primary School, GRA, Enugu, and Aunty Lizzy International Nursery and Primary School, Abule Egba, Lagos. I went to Daughters of Divine Love Juniorate, Enugu, and Easy Flow College, Lagos, for my junior secondary and senior secondary education.
Entertainment
I am a model, writer, actress, dancer and I am also involved in fashion. People keep attacking the fact that I don’t want to be like every other person. I can only be myself because every other person is taken. I don’t think anyone should want to be like me, so why I should want to be like any other person? The world is big enough for everyone and there should be something unique about everybody. By God’s grace, everyone should watch out for me in a movie soon.
BBN
When I told my parents that I was going to partake in Big Brother Naija, they were surprised but they supported me. I am sure if I had told my dad earlier, he would have expressed concern about my education. My time in the house was lovely. I treated people the same way they treated me. Everyone saw my relationship with Tobi and we are still very close; I can tell him anything that bothers me. We are very good friends. If it leads to a romantic relationship in future , then our foundation would have been strong.
Before I went to the house, I was popular because in school, we always had a Miss Popular Award Programme. However, BBN has made me more popular. There was a time I had to run away from greeting people because I almost missed my flight.
Lessons
We can all be whatever we want to be, irrespective of who you think you are. With prayers to God, you can make it to anywhere. You can go through anything with the right people around you. I remember there was a time I almost gave up in the house but I had positive people around me.
Challenges
My challenge lies in not knowing the right way to go about what I want to do. Everyone is trying to change me; though I don’t see it as a challenge. I just feel that people should not judge me for not living my life the way they chose to live theirs. It is also not fair for people to say that I am not a lady because I dress in a certain way.
Background
I really don’t have much to say about that but I think it is a very wrong for anyone to say that I am from a poor background. I won’t describe my family as poor because I haven’t suffered all my life. At some point, we had financial issues but that was in the past. I wasn’t supposed to say it in the house but that is okay. Everyone is entitled to their opinions about my background because a person’s background doesn’t determine where he or she is going to end up. Coming from a poor background and being where I am today is something I should be proud of. Also, the issue of my father’s illness is personal. I didn’t win the money but right now, I am going to work hard to ensure he gets proper treatment.
Abortion
That is something I haven’t even discussed. I think that issue was grossly misinterpreted and it is something I don’t even want to explain right now. I want everyone to believe whatever they want to believe. I was close to Princess’ brother but there was never a story like that about him.
Nudity
Showing my breast while I was in the house was an honest mistake. It was unintentional and it was not done because I wanted to have more fans
Interests
I love to talk and make people happy. I also enjoy dancing.
Relationship
I am single. I was single before going to the house and I am still single. I like a
man who can understand me. Honestly, I would say ‘no’ to any man I am taller than. Generally, I like good people that understand me and are good to me.
Relaxation
Whenever I want to relax, I would dance. It is something I love so much and I can do that the whole day.
Fashion
I love to wear anything stylish and I can do without fashion accessories. I love to dress nicely and I am not a party to nudity. A lot of people see me as a tomboy but I am not. I just feel that I can rock any style

According to a report By Pyradic, as the Senate prepares to legally fence-out its suspended member, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege (APC/Delta Central) from returning to the red chamber, there are strong indications that the embattled legislator may launch a fresh invasion of the National Assembly today to forcefully reclaim his seat.
A crowd of supposed supporters of the embattled lawmaker is expected to picket the gates of the National Assembly today to demand his recall. Ahead of the expected resumption of Omo-Agege, security was yesterday beefed up at the National Assembly, Abuja.
The suspended senator yesterday vowed to resume plenary today. The Senate had on April 12 suspended Omo-Agege for 90 legislative days for accusing his colleagues of amending the Electoral Act 2014 purposely to frustrate President Muhammadu Buhari’s second term bid.
The lawmaker made the allegation following the adoption of the Conference Report on the Electoral Act, which proposed a reordering of the sequence of the general elections in the country.
Barely a week after the suspension, Omo-Agege forced his way back to his seat, allegedly with the aid of some hoodlums who invaded the red chamber and took away the mace, the symbol of legislative authority.
The police had, last week, blamed the invasion of the Senate chamber on perceived connivance among some unnamed political actors in the parliament.
Omo-Agege is the scribe of the banned Parliamentary Support Group for Buhari (PSGB), a group of legislators drumming support for President Buhari’s second term ambition.
New Telegraph reports that Omo-Agege will be returning to the Senate today with a motley crowd of supporters while the PSGB will be on hand to receive him.
A source who spoke on the condition of anonymity said much of the crowd would be imported from Delta State. According to a source, a convoy of buses conveying about 150 youths left Asaba, Delta State, for Abuja yesterday, for the planned protest in support of Omo-Agege’s return to the National Assembly.
The planned protest would revolve around the need to enforce the court ruling declaring the suspension of Omo-Agege as illegal. Omo-Agege yesterday vowed to resume at the Senate today.
Speaking with journalists at the All Progressives Congress (APC) national headquarters in Abuja yesterday, the senator said: “The enrolment of the court order is being served on the Senate as we speak and I believe that it has been served on the Senate.
Thereafter, I reserve the right to resume whenever I deem fit. “I don’t expect any resistance because that will have its own consequences. “This is a court order and you must understand the basis of the court judgement.
The court rendered that judgement because it felt that they were contemptuous. My matter was in court and, notwithstanding, they proceeded to purportedly suspend me. It was on that basis that the court exercised its power to reverse the suspension and not necessarily on the merit of my case. “Now, I understand that they have gone to court to ask for a stay of that judgement. For those of you who are familiar with the law, that is an equitable relief. He who comes to equity must come with clean hands
.You cannot be in contempt of the court and at the same time ask the court to grant you an equitable relief of stay. In any case, it is a declaratory judgement, which is not stayable in law and the judge said with immediate effect. “So, I don’t need any other action to take my seat. So, to answer your question, I will show up any time I deem fit.
There is no reason why I should not show up tomorrow (today). More likely, I will be in the Senate on Tuesday.”
Strengthening of security arrangement at the complex, especially around the Senate Chambers is to forestall likely security breach as recorded on April 18, when some hoodlums stormed the chambers and made away with the Mace.
The incident which occurred while plenary was ongoing in the chambers was linked to Omo-Agege, who defied the suspension order on him and attended the proceedings, accompanied by some strange fellows into the chamber.
Apart from full security detail in the chamber of the red chamber on Monday, police officers were seen at the lobby leading into the chamber, a development that is unusual on a non-sitting day. Sergeants-at-Arms were also seen in clusters discussing in hush tones, and apparently perfecting the security beef-up.
Some staff of the assembly, who pleaded anonymity, said that the development was not unconnected with the expected return of Omo- Agege to the chamber on today after the court judgement in his favour.
They confirmed that the move to check likely breakdown of law and order as experienced when the mace was forcefully taken away. The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja had, last Thursday, voided the suspension of Omo-Agege by the Senate.
The court, in a judgement delivered by Justice Nnamdi Dimgba, held that the reason the Senate adduced for suspending Omo-Agege for 90 legislative days, was unconstitutional. The court further noted that the Ethics and Privileges Committee of the Senate recommended that Omo- Agege should be suspended to punish him for instituting legal action against the legislative house.
The court held that while the Senate has the powers to sanction its erring members to protect its integrity, no institution or authority has the powers to strip any citizen his right of access to the court. Justice Dimgba further noted that whereas sections 67(4) of the Senate Standing Rules 2014 and section 21(2) of the Legislative Houses Powers and Privileges Act, okayed the suspension of any erring lawmakers for 14 legislative days, the Senate went ahead and handed Omo-Agege 90-day suspension.
“The suspension of the plaintiff for 90 days is ultravires of powers of the 1st defendant (Senate). Any suspension of member of the Senate that exceeds 14 days is null and void and unconstitutional,” the court held.
The court ordered the Senate to recall the plaintiff immediately and equally pay him any salary or allowance that accrued to him within the period he was illegally suspended.
Omo-Agege had, in his suit marked FHC/ABJ/ CS/314/2018, prayed the court to quash his suspension and declare that he was illegally barred from attending plenary at the Senate. However, the Senate reportedly appealed the ruling of the court and applied for a stay of execution of the order to recall the legislator. The appeal has been slated for consideration tomorrow.

Popular rapper Yung6ix’s deejay, DJ Timmy has been allegedly accused by a slay queen of patronising her and not paying her her dues.
According to gistreel.com, the lady claimed they both had sex together and though he had been acting funny before the deed, he still refused to pay her after having fun with her. She then decided to call him out on social media.
The heartbroken lady who cried out about the foul play wrote;

A week ago I met Dj Timmy, Yung6ix Dj, at a club on the Lagos Island. He approached and we discuss about how much he was going to pay me. We went to his crib.
At his crib, I did notice he was acting funny. He later slept with me and by morning he drove to the atm saying he was not with cash and stuff. When we got to the atm, he was not able to get cash from the machine. He then took me to a restaurant and left me there. I can’t be allowed to enter his estate until he calls the security for permission. I have video and pictures I took when I noticed he was acting funny.
I sent him a dm and he has been avoiding my dm. I want the world to know the kind of person he is.”

DJ Timmy and the lady are allegedly pictured together in bed.
The deejay has however not reacted to the accusation as efforts to reach him has proven futile.
Remember, Timmy once had an altercation with comedian Akpororo sometimes in 2017, with the deejay claiming he and his team had the Nood photos of the comedian and opened up on how she was being used as a sex slave by a man while at Lead City University in Ibadan.
