Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has written a letter to President Joe Biden, begging the United States Government not to sell arms to President Buhari.


The IPOB leader in a letter signed by him and dated Monday 10th May, 2021, insisted that if the United States Government should sell arms to the Government of Nigeria, they will use it to destroy innocent Nigerians who are only agitating peacefully for a referendum



Nnamdi Kanu who quoted a section of the Nigeria's constitution, maintained that peaceful demonstration is constitutionally backed by the Constitution of the country, he also told the US President that against this, the present Federal Government led by President Mohammadu Buhari, has labelled treason charges on the leader of IPOB.



The IPOB leader called on President Joe Biden to invoke section 620M of the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961 (FAA), as amended, which prohibits giving assistance authorised by the FAA and the Arms Export Control Act to any foreign security force unit where there is credible information that the unit has committed a a gross violation of human rights.



According to the Leader of IPOB who said that President Buhari's led administration has strived effortlessly to eliminate Christians and Jews in Nigeria, he reminded the United States Government that their national interests lie in the protection of Christians and Jews in Nigeria. Kanu maintained that giving arms to the Nigerian Government will see the destruction of these groups which is against the interest of the United States Government.



While he also stated that part of these national interests are defeating the radical Islamic terrorist groups in Nigeria, as well as preventing instability in the West African zone, he added that leading a strong diplomatic pressure on the Government of Nigeria to as a matter of urgency agree to a UN supervised referendum on Biafran Independence.
