Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Contract Job With Total (200k) Vs Masters In The Uk: Which Do U Prefer? by Globalstu: 11:52am On Apr 05, 2009
You should definetly complete your masters instead if you get the chance. You can always get a good paying job later, or even a better paying job too with a masters degree from the UK.
Business / Re: Why Can't Nigerians Shop Online? by Globalstu: 11:12am On Apr 05, 2009
If it can be done abroad, then it can also be done in Nigeria. It might take time, but in the future, I'm sure it will become a reality where Nigerians will be able to shop online. It would be too sad if the country does not advance for the better in the future.
Education / Bad Economy? Go get a degree in the US! by Globalstu: 10:15am On Apr 05, 2009
When the jobless rate goes up, that's a great time for people to reconsider their priorities, thus, a struggling economy usually translates into higher enrollment at graduate schools and other higher education facilities.

Go back to school!

What are the advantages of going to school during this recessionary period?
1) Stand out from the crowd - Returning to school for an extra certification or degree is a resume booster. You show that you are knowledgeable about your subject matter or industry and you will stand out from the sea of other resumes that staffers wade through each day.

2) Networking - There's no better place to meet a number of fairly successful people than academe. Who knows, one of your group members in your Diversity in Leadership class may work at your dream company and may be able to get you in!

3) Give the economy a chance to turn around - Things aren't going to get better immediately, so in the meantime, stop worrying about finding a new job. Stick with the one you have (no matter how bad it may be) and have your continuing education be your saving grace while you zone out during your next staff meeting. If you're not currently working, this could be a great time to focus entirely on school and potentially land an internship that can lead to a full-time offer before you graduate.

4) Fulfill a dream - You've always wanted to go back a learn more about a subject. What was it? What is the one skill you've always wanted to possess? Whether you dreamed about becoming a teacher or a sous chef or a marketing manager, now is the best time to go after it. Do some research to find the best schools in the area for your subject of choice and attend an open house. Talk to some of the instructors and students, if you have the opportunity. They can usually quell any fears and hesitation you may have about returning to school.

5) Higher Salary- Having a higher degree in many occupations, ensures a higher salary.

Stop letting the recession get you down and focus on improving yourself in the long run.

You won't regret it!

If you are interested in pursuing a degree program in the US, we can help. Global student consultant is seeking new clients for the 2010 school year. Please note, this is a FEE service, meaning if you decide to use our services, will be charged a fee. Also, we do not assist with scholarship/sponsor search. You will have to be able to afford the school that you are applying to, as you will need to show proof of funds before the paperwork for the VISA application can be issued.  PLEASE NOTE: We can not secure admissions or take you on as a client if you have very low grades or test scores, as the probability of getting admitted would be slim. Admission to any school would be based on your previous academic performance. information@globalstudentconsultant.com

Yes, we mostly deal with students trying to gain admission to US schools, but we have worked with those who are interested in Canada. Now, when you say cheap, how much can you afford? What is cheap to you? You can try Concordia University, their two year program will cost about 20-26K canadian $, or Mcgill at about 25K+ for the two years. Also look into Dalhousie University, it might be cheaper then the other two, and also Carleton. Good luck with your search.
