Some of the disadvantages of Female Condom The outer ring or frame is visible outside the vagina, which can make some women feel self-conscious. The FC2 female condom can make noises during intercourse (adding more lubricant can lessen this problem). Some women find the female condom hard to insert and remove. It has a higher failure rate in preventing pregnancy than non-barrier methods such as the pill. In some countries it can be relatively expensive and limited in availability. |

To understand albinism, you need to first know about melanin (say: MEL-uh-nin). Melanin is a chemical in our bodies that colors our skin, eyes, and hair. It's made by melanocytes (say: muh-LAH-nuh-sytes), which are cells found in the bottom layer of your skin. Sometimes, a kid or an animal might be born whose body can't make a normal amount of melanin. This is what happens with albinism, which can show up as a lack of pigment (color) in the skin, eyes, hair, fur, or feathers of that kid or animal. There are different kinds of albinism. Some kids with albinism might have pale skin or hair. Other types of albinism might affect only the eyes. Most kids with albinism have blue eyes, and others have brownish eyes. In some cases of albinism, a kid's eyes might appear pink or reddish. This isn't because the iris (the colored part of the eye) is pink or red. It's because the iris actually has very little color. The eyes appear pink or red because the blood vessels inside of the eye (on the retina) show through the iris. What Causes Albinism? It’s not possible to contact albinism the same way you get infected with other disease, meaning you can't "catch" albinism, like you catch a cold or the flu. It's caused by a person's genes. You might have learned about genes in science class, but what exactly are they? Albinism is caused with a mutation in on the list of genes. Each of these family genes provides instructions for making on the list of proteins involved in your production of melanin. Melanin is created by cells called melanocytes, which can be found in your skin tone and eyes. A mutation may lead to no melanin at all or perhaps a significant decline in the quantity of melanin. In some sorts of albinism, a person must inherit two copies of the mutated gene — one particular from each parent — to be able to have albinism (recessive inheritance). What are the treatment options for albinism? There is no cure for albinism. Treatments and aids can help the symptoms and reduce the risk of damage to the skin and eyes. Precautions in avoiding exposure to UV light, using high-factor sunscreen, protective clothing and hats are essential. Coping with eye problems can be achieved by seeking advice from optometrists and ophthalmologists. Surgery may be required on the ocular muscles to decrease some of the vision problems. Treatment of the eye conditions consists of visual rehabilitation. Vision aids, such as glasses, bifocals, prescription reading glasses, magnifiers or monoculars, colored contact lenses, bright reading lights, can help individuals with albinism. Some people use bioptics - glasses with small telescopes mounted on. Some individuals use screen magnification products on computers. Some kids with albinism wear glasses or contact lenses to help them see better. Others might need eye surgery. An eye doctor can help figure out ways to help a person with albinism see better. What's Life Like for Someone With Albinism? Kids with albinism are just like other kids — they just need to talk with their doctor about taking care of their eyes and skin, especially if they're going to be in the sun. And albinism doesn't stop kids from reaching their goals. Lots of kids with albinism have grown up to be doctors, lawyers, musicians, and athletes. Most kids with albinism can be anything they want to be, just like any other kid! What are the treatment options for albinism? http://healthsaveblog.com/treatment-of-albinism-albino/

On Wednesday for “medical checks,” the royal court said, with the country’s stock market falling sharply following the news (http://itsenews.com/king-abdullah-saudi-arabia-hospitalized-markets-watching/) But Yesterday , The saudi royal Court said Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah is being treated for pneumonia and his condition has stabilized with the aid of a breathing tube, according to a Royal Court statement on Friday. The statement, which was unveiled by Saudi state media, said the monarch, 90, had been transferred Thursday with a military hospital after experiencing shortness connected with breath and back pain. The Saudi Royal Court said tests showed the king had a new respiratory infection. After spending more than week at his regal encampment in Rawdat Khuraim, a new green oasis about 62 mls (100 kilometers) north of Riyadh, the king returned on the capital on Wednesday and was admitted initially with a National Guard hospital for tests. The health of the monarch is of extreme importance inside kingdom, where Abdullah holds total powers to enact laws and appoint ministers. His condition is also watched internationally largely due to the country’s role as one of the world’s largest oil exporters, together with regionally where the kingdom features used its influence to kitchen counter the Islamist Muslim Brotherhood class and Shiite Iran. Abdullah formally assumed the throne in 2005, but has largely been seen as the de facto ruler of Saudi Arabia since mid-1990s. Dr Uma Ukpai, the president and founder of Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, has said poor men of God did not receive divine calling. He also told Daily Independent that it was untrue that people resorted to Church establishment out of joblessness. According to Ukpai, “Jesus calls church business. He said, ‘I am about my father’s business’. He called church work business and what is business? Business is investment plus gain, minus loss. In church planting, no pastor can collect offering without giving account and survive. Every church has elders and the job of the elders is to make sure that account is given; it is not even publicly but given internally but the account must be given. “Church is all about investment and the gain they make is not in money but in people; that is the gain they make. People also can be called money because for instance, if a pastor’s ministry can cause 20 women to get pregnant; those women will not forget the pastor. If a pastor’s ministry can produce one of the richest 10 men in the country, those men will not forget the man who made them what they are. “When you are into ministry and you have what we call anointing, you have become profitable; you begin to touch lives; you begin to bless people; you begin to change the stories of families and your own story will change also because the man that waters others shall be watered by God. There is so much misinformation about the church. It is not all about money. If your pastor has anointing that can make the blind see, cripples walk, leprosy to disappear, that pastor is in money. “The only man you can worry about is a man who has no anointing; a man who God has rejected; a pastor who God has not approved what he is doing. God does not bless what he does not approve. If God approves what a pastor is doing, he will have more money than he can spend. I am an example.” On the forthcoming general elections vis-a-vis the challenges of Boko Haram insurgency, Ukpai said the crisis was part of Nigerian culture. “There is nothing new happening. We are used to fighting; we are used to killing and duping one another. People try to magnify little problems here and there as things that can overwhelm or swallow Nigeria. Let me tell you, we shall still be here after 2015. All these problems are old problems. Nobody has been able to manufacture new ones. “Even APC (All Progressives Congress) or PDP (Peoples Democratic Party), they have not been able to manufacture new problems. So, this country will still be here after 2015. All those stupid prophecies are from uninformed prophets, who have neither heard from nor seen God. Take it from me that this country will still be here and intact after 2015″. Commenting on attacks on Christians in some parts of the country, Ukpai said persecution had been part of the Christian calling. Quoting from the Holy Book, Ukpai pointed out that “The Bible promised us persecution; it did not say we shall not be persecuted. Secondly, persecution sharpens us and makes us pray better. I would rather have Christians persecuted than Christians not persecuted, because the more you persecute Christians, the more they will pray; the more they will seek after God. Those who seek after God shall know their God and those who know their God shall do exploit. So, in the attempt to harm us, they are sharpening us for a better and greater day.” Pastors that are poor were not called by God Ukpai, however, appealed to politicians and other well-meaning Nigerians to work towards the peace, unity and prosperity of the country. His words: “We are praying for politics with principles; we are praying for politicians who have prepared themselves to serve and not to lord over us; and we are looking for politicians who are accountable to us and to themselves. But most importantly, we are asking for electorate who would not ask for bribes. Let nobody collect money to vote. If you collect money to vote, you have destroyed your moral right to account from the elected officers. “We want our politicians to know that we cannot continue to run in circle; let them show some level of maturity. Finally, every politician must respect the sacredness of human beings. Let nobody be killed because of another person’s ambition. When anybody is killed, he cannot be reproduced and because we didn’t create anybody, we don’t have the right to kill anybody. So, can our politicians try to show good measure of maturity and intelligence, fear of God and preparedness to obey the laws of the land? They behave as though there are no laws. There are laws and we must obey those laws; that is what will help us move forward and move in a manner that will bring reward. http://dailypost.ng/2014/12/20/pastors-poor-not-called-god-uma-ukpai/ Source: http://itsenews.com/pastors-poor-not-called-god-uma-ukpai/ How true is this? ![]()

Saudi woman arrested for attending soccer game RIYADH, SAUDI ARABIA—A Saudi newspaper says a woman arrested after attending a soccer game claims she did not know women were prohibited from going to the stadium. The state-linked Okaz newspaper reported on Monday that police in the city of Jiddah have questioned the woman, who claims she bought a ticket online without any problems and went to the Friday night game between Jiddah’s al-Ittihad and Riyadh’s al-Shabab in the kingdom’s new al-Jawhara stadium, where she was arrested. The game was between Jiddah’s al-Ittihad and Riyadh’s al-Shabab. Police spokesman Atti al-Qurashi said security spotted her at the stadium “deliberately disguised” in male attire to avoid detection, reported the state-linked news website Twasul. Okaz reported Sunday that police questioned the woman, who is in her twenties, for “impersonating” a man by wearing pants, a long-sleeve top, a hat and sunglasses. Most women in Saudi Arabia cover their hair and face with a veil known as the niqab and all women are required to wear a loose black dress known as the abaya in public. The paper said the woman has been in police custody since Friday and is being held at a center for girls in the western province of Mecca. No charges have been raised so far. Ultraconservative Saudi clerics shun female access to exercise and women’s teams are not part of the kingdom’s federation that oversees sports. Women often struggle to find facilities to train and are not allowed to attend matches in stadiums. Source: http://itsenews.com/saudi-woman-arrested-attending-soccer-game/

Sierra Leone Government cancels Christmas as Ebola crisis deepens Sierra Leone said Friday it was banning any public Christmas celebrations as the spiralling caseload of Ebola infections continues to spread alarm. Soldiers are to be deployed throughout the fun period to force persons venturing onto the roadways back indoors, the government's Ebola response unit said. Palo Conteh, head of the department, told reporters in the capital Freetown there would be "no Christmas and New Year celebrations this year". "We will ensure that everybody remains at home to reflect on Ebola," he said. "Military personnel will be on the streets at Christmas and the New Year to stop any street celebrations," he said, without saying which areas would be targeted. While Islam is the dominant religion in Sierra Leone, more than a quarter of the population is Christian and public gatherings and entertainment are common during the holiday period. Conteh did not give the exact dates of the crackdown or list any exceptions. During previous local and nationwide anti-Ebola curfews, people were allowed out to worship and for "essential business". Under current emergency regulations, bars and nightspots have already been shut down and public gatherings outlawed but there is no general ban on going outdoors or working. Sierra Leone Government cancels Christmas Sierra Leone Government cancels Christmas The World Health Organization (WHO) said on Friday that 18,188 cases of the deadly virus had been reported across Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone, resulting in 6,583 deaths. Sierra Leone reported 397 new cases during the week ending December 7 -- three times as many as Liberia and Guinea combined. - 'At their wits' end' - Sources close to the government told AFP that details on the workings of the Christmas curfew would be announced shortly. The country now counts 8,069 Ebola cases, including 1,899 deaths, according to the latest figures. Sierra Leone has already quarantined around half its population of six million, sealing off districts across the country in a bid to combat the Ebola outbreak. The government imposed a two-week lockdown on the eastern diamond mining district of Kono on Wednesday after eight cases of Ebola were confirmed in one day. The WHO's national Ebola coordinator Olu Olushayo said doctors and nurses were "at their wits' end." In the space of 11 days, two WHO teams buried 87 victims, including a nurse and an ambulance driver enlisted to help dispose of corpses piling up in the local hospital, the agency said. The government reacted with surprise to the WHO's claims, however, saying Friday they did not tally with reports from the ground and announcing that investigators had been sent to assess the situation in Kono. Local media said officials at the district's main public hospital in Koidu had also been taken aback by the reports. Aiah Beyonquee, the leader of the local burial team, told the state-run Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation no bodies had been stacked at the hospital. Most women experience some physical and emotional symptoms during menopause, caused by hormonal imbalance. Typically, a woman will begin to experience menopause symptoms around her mid-40 as her body's reproductive capability comes to the end. Sleep Disorders Waking many times during the night, tossing and turning, and insomnia, are all sleep disorders connected with menopause. Women going through menopause may find that their sleep is less restful and that getting to sleep becomes increasingly difficult. Research indicates that women begin to experience restless sleep as many as five to seven years before entering menopause. In the past, doctors believed that interrupted sleep was a consequence of night sweats, but recent studies indicate that problems with sleep are not always necessarily connected to other menopause symptoms. Sleep disorders are a symptom of menopause in their own right, but it is important for a woman to distinguish if her unique sleep disorder is actually caused by hormonal imbalance, or if there is another factor behind it Memory Lapses Memory lapses are a normal symptom of menopause Women approaching menopause often complain of memory loss, memory lapses, and an inability to concentrate. Misplaced car keys, skipped appointments, forgotten birthdays, and missed trains of thought might seem like trivial occurrences, but these can be extremely distressing for women who have never missed a beat before. However, these memory lapses are a normal symptom of menopause, associated with low levels of estrogen and with high stress levels. Memory loss affects most people in one way or another, and more often than not, it is only a momentary memory lapse; however, when memory lapses begin to become a regular occurrence, it is wise to seek medical advice to treat the causes, like hormonal imbalance, stress, or other more serious conditions. Weight Gain Weight gain is another sign of changing hormones Weight gain, specifically a thickening around the waist, is another sign of changing hormones levels during menopause. While some sources claim that menopause has nothing to do with weight gain, hormonal changes during menopause actually influence weight gain and redistribution of fat. For example, fewer circulating estrogen hormones lead the body to retain more fat cells as an alternative source of components of estrogen. Also, low testosterone levels lead to a decreased metabolic rate, meaning that from menopause onwards women need fewer calories daily; therefore, women who continue to eat as before will gain weight by default. In this way, changes in diet and exercise are necessary to revitalize the body's metabolic rate and prevent weight gain during menopause, as well as treatments to target the underlying hormonal imbalance. Bonus. other signs and symptoms includes: Crashing fatigue Anxiety, feeling ill at ease Feelings of dread, apprehension, doom Difficulty concentrating, disorientation, mental confusion Disturbing memory lapses Incontinence, especially upon sneezing, laughing; urge incontinence Itchy, crawly skin Aching, sore joints, muscles and tendons Increased tension in muscles Breast tenderness Headache change: increase or decrease Gastrointestinal distress, indigestion, flatulence, gas pain, nausea Sudden bouts of bloat Depression Exacerbation of existing conditions Increase in allergies Weight gain Hair loss or thinning, head, pubic, or whole body; increase in facial hair Dizziness, vertigo, light-headedness, episodes of loss of balance Changes in body odor Electric shock sensation under the skin and in the head Tingling in the extremities Source: http://healthsaveblog.com/signs-of-menopause/ Gum problems, increased bleeding Burning tongue, burning roof of mouth, bad taste in mouth, change in breath odor Osteoporosis (after several years)

Do you dread your monthly cycle due to painful cramps? Many women suffer from painful periods, unaware of the effective natural remedies that can make their periods more comfortable. Menstrual Pain is what most girls pass through every month during their menses. Sometimes the pain is so unbearable that it can even make one to fall sick. Having Sex Helps Reduce Menstrual pain All right, I can see the #eyes rolling out there. This idea may be far fetched, but it's been proven that having sex while you are on your period helps to relieve menstrual pain. Having orgasms helps release some of the pressure and allows your uterus walls to relax! Try doing it in the shower for less mess. Keep some towels and wipes handy for cleanup. And obviously, this tip is for married ladies only as I would never want to encourage pre-marital sex-but there are other ways to achieve orgasm! According to allwomentalk.com Laying in the Fetal Position This may sound a little crazy, but laying in the fetal position is one way to relieve menstrual pain! Do you ever notice how a small baby will draw his legs up to his #stomach when he has a tummy ache? That's because the body automatically knows that this position helps relax tummy muscles and relieve the pain a bit. This may not be effective on its own, but I guarantee you if you double it up with a heating pad, or Advil, or both, you will get great results! Try a Tea Raspberry leaf is considered to be a mild uterine tonic. Try a cup of raspberry leaf tea each day throughout the month. It is available at Whole Foods by the company Traditional Medicinals. Keep in mind you are looking for the herbal tea, not raspberry-flavored black tea! Cut Down on Coffee Caffeine, especially from coffee, is a well-known vasoconstrictor – it makes blood vessels constrict. Indeed, it may cause the vessels that feed the uterus to tighten more than they do in non-coffee drinkers. If you’re a diehard coffee drinker and can’t cut it out entirely, try avoiding it just in the week before your period and see if you notice a change. Apply a heating pad to your lower belly area, below your belly button. Never fall asleep with the heating pad on. Do light circular massage with your fingertips around your lower belly area. Drink warm beverages. Eat light but frequent meals. Follow a diet rich in complex carbohydrates such as whole grains, fruits, and vegetables, but low in salt, sugar, alcohol, and caffeine. Keep your legs raised while lying down, or lie on your side with your knees bent. Practice relaxation techniques such as meditation or yoga. Try over-the-counter anti-inflammatory medicine, such as ibuprofen. Start taking it the day before your period is expected to start, and continue taking it regularly for the first few days of your period. Try vitamin B6, calcium, and magnesium supplements, especially if your pain is from PMS. Take warm showers or baths. Walk or exercise regularly, including pelvic rocking exercises. Lose weight if you are overweight. Get regular, aerobic exercise. To all Nairaland ladies.. Enjoy Sources: http://healthsaveblog.com/overcoming-menstrual-pain/
