Pls do keep writing....We need to enlighten people. I belong to several GRE and MSINUS groups which are full of Indians and i have made lots of friends along the way. These guys are "go getters" their tenacity is quite infectious.

Infact i have found some study buddies among them and i have improved alot in my GRE study. I was targeting fall 2019 before into some low tier schools because i also have a 9-5 job in a tech firm.

But i have decided to push it to 2020 because most of the top tier schools funding deadlines have either passed or are coming up soon and i wont be able to meet them. Also my course of study isn't really in low tier schools which has to do with Tech Innovation. Another great factor is the time it offers me to be more embedded in more tech and community projects in the next 8 months which would strengthen my application.

My target schools are Boston University for their dual degree, Cornell University, University of Virginia and some other mid tier schools.

One thing i decided to do is to check out their requirements and understand what is required. I have 8 months from now to put my best foot forward. I have also identified some bias that can work on my behalf.

Secondly, i have reached out to alumni's in my proposed program on linkedin for tips etc, I found out for Boston University the rate of Africans applying to that course is very low. Infact 2016 set just had 1 African a Sudanese.... Spoke to her and found out she didn't even have the "top notch GRE score needed" Same with a friend who just got into Harvard but diversity, etc played a part.

Indians: What people don't understand is that they are in competition with each other for admit spots. An Indian once told me they are held to a higher standard than others from other countries just because they are too many of them that are just as good. That's why you find an Indian who got 320 in GRE crying and saying how can he get 330 can you imagine?

Funding: The art of predicting every factor before it happens restrains anything from happening. I believe in taking a step at a time. You never know what can happen.

Another Great factor is: THE LONG TERM PLAN. Many Nigerians are very short sighted and they don't see the future nor the cycle change of leadership turning. The relationships, networks and pedigree etc can really do wonders for your future.

I am just encouraging people to make the best out of every opportunity that comes your way. Strive for the best as it plays out well in the long run. At least TRY!

Go ahead if it is because the funding is low. Make sure to check that your school did not write your Mom's name on the I-20, otherwise, you will have to use her only as the sponsor when filling the dsform and present her statement at embassy if visa will be granted.. If the term "family" is what appear on your i-20 as source of fund for sponsorship, then you can use uncle account. But state uncle's name on your dsform as sponsor. I assume an uncle is a part of a whole family. Note that.

Yes I did and it was successful. It is a one man business anyways and I know basic details about the business owner. They VO asked me his last name and I gave her his full name including the middle name.I don't know much about the criteria here but its possible

You can notarize your document at a Notary Public office. There are several of them at Ikeja High Court. (Its about N1,500 per copy)

They give admissions to Nigerians. You can check on linkedin, you will find some Nigerians there, connect with them and ask your questions.
I got in touch with some Nigerian students there through linkedin at some point when I was considering Bowie State.

Depends on the school, some schools doesn't accept company account and prefer sponsor's personal account. You can ask your school international student office if they accept company statement of account. As for visa purpose, you can go with the company but bring necessary documents along to show your sponsor is the sole signatory to the account. If he is not the sole signatory, a consent letter showing that the other directors who are signatories to the account are aware that the funds will be used for your studies.

Either way, you can use both. You just need a consent letter from the signatories to the account in order to use the company account.

When you say company's account, do you mean for instance, Mummy has a company registered in her name, e.g. Alakija ventures, and you want to present the company's SOA,
or on the other side, the company's SOA belongs to a company owned by a group of people?

if it is the former, I don't think it should be a problem, although gurus in the house can say better,
but if it is the later (own by a group of people), that outrightly shouldn't be an option, in my own opinion.

Either way, fellow Nairalanders, help solve this equation as there may be others with such dilemma.

Yes you can use company account but it's advisable to use your sponsors personal account as some company account have many signatories to it

Consistency is key to interview success. Do not change vital details in a hurry. You may need to let us in on your general profile and your interview transcript for a postmortem and useful recommendations.
If you've come here to get approval for misrepresentation, I won't even support with my 100kobo.

Though here is faceless forumn. Some of those gurus you see that are still in Nigeria have first class information for visa applications. Its not everyone that passes exam that knows how to teach, you can liken that to those who got their visa. So if the information given to you is helpful, thank the person and don't use because they are still in Nigeria and take what they say less serious.

All schools I applied to waived my English test even when it was stated as a requirement. I emailed the one that didn't waive automatically that I've had all my education in English language and they waived it. You could send an email to the grad coordinator but I think tamuc will waive it.

If its not needed it won’t be stated. Ofcourse you can get all information online, never give the information gotten here priority over your school’s website. The best source of credible information is your grad cord or dept secretary, send them emails.

I don't think anybody can give you the info you need. Send emails to the ETSU to enquire about your admission status. Go to Texas A & M website and check admission requirements. Go to https://www.wes.org/ to check the equivalent of your CGPA.

(said something can't remember again :: soft skills). 3. (Not because of the IT hubs in the region.. brought him back, proving myself as a legit student). I remember i said something like "this program will groom me to become an IT business architect with an understanding of... Analyzing, defining and building information system requirements and guiding other on how to build their for various business situations... Was just talking and he was listening..

O26: 3 Lincoln University, Weber state university, Missouri State University

V. O: who will sponsor this trip?
O26: my mother, she's an orthopedist, essentially I'm gainfully employed as previously discussed and I've a liquid cash of * EUR.

Additional things he might have seen: my traveling experience (man don Waka for Europe o), USA B2 still valid.. been to US more than...

Maybe these gave me an edge: Almighty God (Surely), my eloquence, my accent (amerikish.. Lol), confidence (worked with many of them before) and preparation... In spite of my nice profile, bros i prayed and prepared...

I was unhappy to see a guy refused visa today.. I think he used an agent, and his Mr agent arranged a fake I20 for him (tried multiple times, but all proved abortive).. I'm not here to mock anyone but please stay away from agents.. You can do it yourself..!
