The organisers claimed to be rich through d saed programme yet they ask for thousands of naira as registration fee.. Imagine d so called warp loan (not sure abt d spelling but I know it's a loan scheme), they will give Corp member BTW 200-300naira loan after so many write ups and guarantors and @ d end seize d applicant nysc certification till he or she pay back d loan.. All pure scam and rip off..

I wonder why can't federal govt put d allawee for d 12months togeda including d 500naira per day for feeding including state and local govt allawee (for states dat pay) then give d money to fresh graduate as a form of empowerment so each of us can start sometin meaningful wit d money...

God bless you. But if the FG gives every graduate the total allowance in full package, some people will still misuse it. More so, some Corp members are still useful in their PPA as some of them aid in giving quality teaching. I was a benefactor of this cos in my Secondary school the Chemistry teachers were wack and most of my mates and I don't know the rudiments of Basic Chemistry in SS2 but a Corp member was posted to our school in the third term and things changed for better; I even went on to study Chemistry. So I don't think the whole Nysc should be scrapped, itz only the Orientation programme I think shld be scrapped.

Hello, the OP talked about Reminisce in her write up so I think the point of criticism should be enveloped around Hip-hop artistes not about other genres and the last time I checked Hip hop didn't evolve in Naija so ion think our culture should be infused in the so-called Hiphop. Even artistes that try to blend Afro culture into Hip hop called it Afro-Hiphop

Moreso, I've said earlier if you want to listen good lyrics then you don't have to listen to all hip hop songs, you'd get 'good' lyrics in ballads, odes and all sort of poems.

Hmm!!! In depth analysis OP but don't forget the early indigenous music singers in Nigeria also sang dirty in some of their albums.

Foreign hip-hop artistes say 'censored words' in their songs also but you won't tell us that. The likes of Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, Jay Z, Tyga, Snoop Dogg, Beyonce, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj etc. do say "lewd" words in their songs yet the people over there don't criticise them as much as you people criticise Naija Hip-hop artistes (don't forget hip-hop started from their side and most Naija hip-hop artistes have them as role model).

Every song can't be meaningful cos as at the last time I checked, the meaning of music is composed of rythimical sound and the definition of song is short musical composition that is expected to be sung.

So if you want to listen to music that doesn't have 'lewd' contents then you can listen to poems very well.

Corp members refused to answer the Camp Commandant during the Makossa night and it led to the marching of all Corp members to the parade ground (@ some mins to 12am) only for them to sit down on the floor for some minutes for no reason.


This made me wonder why one soldier(nt GCFR) 'll punish around 2,500 graduates (potential leaders of tomorrow) and yet people will still clamour for the need of NYSC orientation camp.

Left to me, the Orientation Camp shi should be stopped as most of the things being done there are meaningless and don't add value to our graduates. Even the SAEDs that are organised are based about money; after an entrepreneur has explained what his firm/company/organisation does and the advantages, they'll tell you the registration fee is............... Then that means the entrepreneurs were @ the camp for money and nothing else.

It's a shame you can't be employed without NYSC certificate, meanwhile this isn't done in other civilised countries of the world. We(Corp members) claim to be serving the fatherland but is it by Man O war drilling, soldiers drilling that'll make us serve the fatherland.

NB: I ain't saying the whole NYSC programme be cancelled but I don't see reason for the need of Orientation camp.

Does anyone enjoy the lectures we do have between 10 and 2pm? What do you do during that period? Lastly, the dancing and drama period, I mean like seriously should it be compulsory for all Corp members to attend?
