Manchester City have officially confirmed the signing of Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Braut Haaland on a five-year contract. The 21-year-old will join the club on July 1 and will follow in the footsteps of his father Alf-Inge Haaland, who played for the Citizens between 2000 and 2003 and signed almost 22 years ago to the day. Pep Guardiola’s side revealed last month that they had reached an agreement with Dortmund to sign the Norway international, subject to the club finalising terms with the striker. Speaking to Man City official website on his arrival at the Etihad Stadium, Haaland said: "This is a proud day for me and my family. I have always watched City and have loved doing so in recent seasons. You can’t help but admire their style of play, it’s exciting and they create a lot of chances, which is perfect for a player like me. "There are so many world-class players in this squad and Pep is one of the greatest managers of all-time, so I believe I am in the right place to fulfil my ambitions. "I want to score goals, win trophies and improve as a footballer and I am confident I can do that here. This is a great move for me and I can’t wait to get started in pre-season." Senegal national team coach Aliou Cisse has suggested that Sadio Mane ‘will feel best at Bayern Munich’ ahead of his proposed transfer to Germany. The Bundesliga champions have already had two bids rejected for the Liverpool winger, who has been pushing for away from Anfield after spending six seasons at the club. With Mane’s situation remaining unresolved, his national team coach has urged him to ‘settle his contract problems’ before the new season starts ahead of the World Cup later this year. According to Senego, Cisse said: "It’s not just Sadio, I’m going to talk about it for all those players who are in a situation where they have to find a club, it’s complicated. Why? Because it is all this problem that awaits us for the World Cup which is in November. "And I tell my boys to try to settle the contract problems so that when their respective championships resume, they will have already found a base. I heard about Sadio at Bayern. "Bayern is intensity, pressure football with a German coach. Sadio played in Salzburg in Austria which is a border country, and that means he is not going into unknown territory. For me, the club where he will feel the best is Bayern." Keep reading: https://www.goalgist.com/senegal-national-coach-aliou-cisse-claims-sadio-mane-will-feel-best-at-bayern/

Liverpool forward Sadio Mane has dropped his biggest hint yet that he will leave Liverpool this summer. The Senegal international said that the people of his country want him to leave the English Premier League and that that is exactly what he is going to do this summer. Saint-Etienne fans attacked their own players after they were relegated to Ligue 2 following their play off defeat to Auxerre on Sunday. Saint Etienne were beaten on penalties after Ryad Boudebouz missed the deciding spot kick following a 1-1 draw on the night and a 2-2 draw on aggregate, meaning Les Verts will play in the second tier of French football for the first time since 1999. The club is the joint-most decorated in French domestic football having won Ligue 1 10 times in their history, however Paris Saint-Germain equalled that tally with this year’s league win and will more than likely eclipse it. After relegation was confirmed, fans turned on their players in aggressive fashion and chose to confront the squad, board and directors with violent methods. Supporters ran onto the pitch at the Geoffroy-Guichard Stadium and began throwing flares and smoke bombs into the stands towards the directors box while also appearing to attempt to attack and confront their own players. Saint Etienne players were evacuated from the pitch, with no reports as of yet to say they have been hurt. Footage below shows the moment thousands of fans invaded the pitch before beginning to attack. Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has been named English Premier League manager of the season. Liverpool took the title race down to the wire, racking up 92 points and finishing runners-up to English Premier League champions Manchester City by a single point, as they went closer to winning the Quadruple than any other English side in history. Reflecting on the climax to the English Premier League season while accepting his award, Klopp said: "It was a bit nervy, it wasn’t the best outcome for us, but we are already over it. And when you win a prize like this you are either a genius, or you have the best coaching staff in the world. I am here with four of my coaching staff, and they know how much I appreciate them." La Liga are filing a complaint to UEFA, the French administrative courts and the European Union over Kylian Mbappe's contract renewal at Paris Saint-Germain, the Spanish league have announced. An official statement from La Liga on Saturday said that it was "scandalous" that PSG could afford to make the deal, stating that it "attacks the integrity of European football". The statement read: "On Kylian Mbappe's possible announcement to stay at PSG, La Liga wishes to state that this type of agreement attacks the economic stability of European football, putting at risk hundreds of thousands of jobs and the integrity of the sport, not only in European competitions, but also in domestic leagues. "It is scandalous that a club like PSG, which last season reported losses of more than 220 million euros after accumulating losses of more than 700 million euros in prior seasons (while reporting sponsorship income at doubtful valuation), with a squad cost around 650 million for this season, can close such an agreement, while those clubs that could afford the hiring of the player without seeing their wage bill compromised, are left without able to sign him....." Italian football pundit Enrico Fedele has claimed that Sassuolo forward Gianluca Scamacca is a better player than Napoli striker Victor Osimhen. Fedele is also convinced that Osimhen is not worth the €100million (N43.8billion) Napoli is demanding from three English Premier League clubs. Fedele told Radio Marte: "Is Osimhen worth 100 million? Not for me, a maximum of 50 million euros. "I think the president meant that he has yet to mature because he is immature. Scamacca is more complete than Osimhen, and he contributes more. "Osimhen needs players who cross the ball; he needs a winger who creates one two because he wants to finish with a strong foot."[/center] Manchester United, Arsenal, and Newcastle United are all interested in the Nigerian, who was named Serie A U-23 player of the season. Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has likened N'Golo Kante to Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Kevin De Bruyne in terms of his importance to the English Premier League club. Also, Tuchel says finishing third in the English Premier League should be seen as a “miracle” given Kante’s injury struggles. Chelsea 1-1 draw with Leicester on Thursday night puts them three points clear of Tottenham, in fourth, with a game to go. The Blues have a superior goal difference of 18 over Spurs. The German boss said: "I think he is our key, key, key player, but key, key, key players need to be on the pitch. He plays only 40% of the games then it is maybe a miracle that we arrive in third place. He is our Mo Salah, he is our Van Dijk, he is our De Bruyne. He is simply that player, he is our Neymar and Kylian Mbappe. He is that guy who makes the difference, and if you only have him for 40%, then it is a huge problem. Given that percentage, it is maybe a miracle that he produces results. It puts everything into perspective as I saw Liverpool without Van Dijk last season, and they struggled heavily. You see the difference. N'Golo is our key player, and we need him on the pitch..." Keep on reading: https://www.goalgist.com/thomas-tuchel-kante-is-chelseas-van-dijk-salah-mbappe-and-de-bruyne/

Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen pulled himself out of contention for Saturday’s agonising FA Cup final defeat against Liverpool just hours before kick-off. The Denmark international – who will join Barcelona at the end of the season – was not injured but told head coach Thomas Tuchel on the morning of the game he did not want to be considered for the Wembley showdown because he did not feel ready to play. It is likely that Christensen would have started the game ahead of Trevoh Chalobah if he was available for selection and his decision to withdraw from the squad to face Jurgen Klopp’s side arrived as a major blow to Chelsea’s plans. His unexpected withdrawal and departure from the team hotel on Saturday morning is understood to have left his team-mates perplexed and shocked. Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has admitted that he is disappointed with the referee during his side’s clash against Real Madrid as he joked with Carlo Ancelotti just moments after the Blues were eliminated from the Champioons League. Tuchel’s men overcame the two-goal deficit to send the match into extra time but were knocked out by another Karim Benzema header, seeing Real Madrid progress to the semi-finals. Speaking after the match, via football.london, Tuchel criticised the referee for his conduct after the match He said: "I was disappointed that the referee had a good time with my colleague, Carlo Ancelotti. I know Carlo is a gentleman and a nice guy, but when I wanted to go and say thank you for the match, I saw him smiling and laughing loudly with the opponents’ coach. I think this is the very, very wrong time to do this after a final whistle and 126 minutes where one team gave all their hearts and fought until the last drop. You go and see the referee smiling and laughing with the other coach. I think it is very, very bad timing. I told him this, and that’s it." The mother of a young Everton fan who seemingly had his phone slapped out of his hand by Cristiano Ronaldo in a controversial incident last weekend has rejected the Manchester United star’s offer to meet him and attend a match at Old Trafford. Ms Kelly says she has no intention of taking her son to Old Trafford to meet Ronaldo and watch a United game as she heavily criticised the Portuguese forward’s apology. She told Sky News: "I’ve got nothing to say to [him]. Why should I travel to Old Trafford? Why would ‘a Blue’ want to go to [visit] ‘a Red’? "If he [Ronaldo] was genuine, I think he should have turned around at the moment of the incident, picked Jake’s phone up and been like, ‘I’m sorry’. "That was the biggest laugh for me: ‘sportsmanship’. When you can do that to a 14-year-old boy. That’s not sportsmanship at all." Boston Celtics co-owner Steve Pagliuca said he reinforced his “substantial and credible” bid for Chelsea on Tuesday, promising significant investment to make the club “habitual winners.” The New York-based merchant bank Raine Group have set a final deadline of Thursday for bids to be submitted with Pagliuca’s proposal one of four to have reached this stage along with a consortium headed by Los Angeles Lakers part-owner Todd Boehly, another led by British businessman Sir Martin Broughton and a third involving the Ricketts family investment group, who also own the Chicago Cubs. Paris Saint-Germain chiefs are said to have become fed up with Brazilian star Neymar both on and off the pitch. The club's Qatari owners reportedly feel 'cheated' by the forward's poor performances on the pitch and have grown tired with his glamorous lifestyle off it. The feeling in Qatar is that Neymar 'prefers Paris over PSG' and the level of fury from the club's shareholders is peaking, according to L'Equipe, via Marca. The French publication reported: 'The French club's shareholders feel they have been cheated out of their money.' PSG forked out £200million (N108billion) to bring the former Barcelona star to the Parc des Princes in 2017. Over five seasons in Paris, the club have also had to pay out more than £417,00,000 (N226billion) in expenditure costs related to Neymar's salary. Over in Doha, the club's owners feel that they have failed to see a return on their investment from Neymar on the pitch. However, with the World Cup held in Qatar in November, PSG, with links to Qatar National Bank and Qatar Airways, have been keen to keep Neymar at the club as a main attraction for the tournament. And it seems PSG will have to keep paying for him for another season as it is reportedly impossible for him to leave this summer. L'Equipe claim that only a club such as Newcastle have the wealth to push through a transfer but it is 'unlikely that the working-class city in the north of England is the place the Brazilian dreams of for the end of his European career'. Former Super Eagles defender Ifeanyi Udeze has blamed Kelechi Nwakali for his lack of professional conduct at Huesca. On Wednesday, Nwakali accused Huesca of sacking him because he went to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations. And even though the Association of Spanish Footballers (AFE) faulted Huesca’s termination of Nwakali’s contract, Udeze is blaming the midfielder for playing into the hands of the Spanish second-tier club and should have better applied himself in his issues with the club. The former PAOK defender told Brila: "As a player, when a club is looking for all possible means to move you on, you have to be careful, because they’ll set you up and hope you fall into their hands, so they can take drastic action against you and possibly deny you your wages in order to save themselves some money. "A player can only get away with bad behaviors if the club considered him to be among the untouchables and their prize asset, which wasn’t Nwakali’s situation with Huesca. "He went away with the National Team for the African Cup of Nations which is good, but staying back in the country when the club was expecting him to return to training is totally unacceptable. "Yes, sometimes players can take a few days off to see family and friends after an international engagement, but they’ll allow you back in the team if you are a regular and that’s after you must have paid a fine. "However, spending a week, two, or three is damn too much. Such behavior is not expected from a player, who is a few months to the end of his contract. He should have been careful...." Erling Haaland has reportedly dismissed any interest from English Premier League club Manchester United this summer because of fears the Red Devils ‘could not match his ambitions’. In a damning indictment of where United are at, the world’s most in-demand striker has ruled out a move to Old Trafford when he leaves Borussia Dortmund. Haaland, who has a £63million (N34billion) release clause, is wanted by a number of Europe’s leading clubs this summer after scoring 80 goals in 83 appearances for the Bundesliga giants since arriving from Red Bull Salzburg in January 2020. Manchester City are reportedly ready to make the Norwegian the highest-paid player in England and, as Sportsmail revealed last month, the Premier League champions are frontrunners in the race for the 21-year-old star forward. But it seems he will not be moving to Old Trafford this summer, despite being heavily linked with United when he joined Dortmund because of links to former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. According to ESPN, Haaland’s representatives have informed United that he won’t be moving there because he feels they ‘cannot match his ambitions’.
