I did mine and got it back within a week. Probably you sent in a paper application. FBI has the electronic system which you can get your result in 3 - 5 business days (https://www.fbi.gov/services/cjis/identity-history-summary-checks).

This is why they say 2 heads are indeed better than one and if you don’t know something ask. I actually clicked on the link and saw it something I didn’t know or see before.

Thank you so much for this though I am not sure if I should go ahead and resubmit or just wait the one I did since I submitted it since the end of January... Almost the 14-16weeks time lapse.

What do you suggest?

Hello House,

So glad to come across this page.

Is there any one in the house that is applying or has applied for the Canadian Express entry and has lived in the US before so has to get the FBI criminal police report?

Damn! The US can delay for the world, geez, 14-16 weeks... It’s going to almost a year because they rejected my finger prints before that it was not professional enough and can’t pick up.

Had to do another one professionally here in the UK and submit, hopefully this May would hear some feedback but damn the US wasting too much time.

Please anyone with the same experience?

Congrats GodandVal!!! I’m extremely excited and happy for you.

It’s very nice to know that HO were kind enough to grant you settlement-Wife visa inspite of completing the settlement-marriage application form.

I was particularly looking out for your visa decision.

Paying for priority means faster process. I used priority and may application took about 1 month, as against 4 months for normal applications. I think yours had a slight delay due to the error. All the same I’m sure a positive decision trumps the extra few weeks wait time.

The wait must have been excruciating. Welcome to the UK.

Cheers

Yes I don’t want to describe the wait but it turned out great, thank God. I have picked up my permit. This cold though lipsrsealed

Praise the Lord, Hallelujah! The Lord has graduated another student from the school of nairaland.
I was here weeks/months ago, heartbroken about the court verdict in Nigeria on local government issued marriage certificate. I asked the house on their opinions and @justwise advised I push ahead with the application.
A big thank you to the house, everyone who contributed years ago to date. @justwise thank you so much. To all new and waiting students, study the manuals and do your best to submit as much documents as you can.

Type of Application: Settlement wife (Priority)
Online application submitted: 31st October
Biometric: 9th November
Email confirmation of support documents received: NONE
Decision made: 7th November
Collection email: 7th November
Courier delivery: 8th November
Picked up: 8th November

It took exactly 1month from my biometric. We are super excited as newly weds (last year) that have been separate since the wedding and hubby returned to UK.
If you can afford PRIORITY please do. It saves time and sleepless nights.
Time to go warm up hubby from the extreme cold in UK. grin

I think there are mix ups with your dates

God has done it!!! This God is too much. Just picked up my passport and the entry clearance/visa in there *dancing******

After everything he has done it for me and He will do for those waiting as well. Below is my timeline:

Type of application: Settlement(wife) but I put in Settlement marriage(mistake)- Priority
Application Submitted: 28 September 2017
Biometrics: October 4, 2017
Sent for Decision : October 4, 2017
Application received by UK Immigration: October 5, 2017
Supporting Documents sent to Sheffield: October 10, 2017
After coming across this topic on Nairaland, I realized the mistake I made in my application by choosing Settlement-marriage instead of Settlement-Wife and it was already too late for another application.
Wrote them a letter explaining the error and asking them for the IHS link : October 24,2017
Surprisingly got a an email requesting for payment for the IHS : November 22, 2017 (I leaped for joy)
Decision made email : December 1, 2017
Collection Email: December 4, 2017
Picked up : Today, Dec 5, 2017

Thank you to everyone that shared their experiences and everyone in the house. So excited!!!!

Baba God, Thank You.

P.s. I thought paying for Priority would mean faster process but all the same I’m happy.

All in all took about 1 month and was much earlier thank we expected but we are very grateful to God for how smooth the application process was.

For those deliberating about whether to send WhatsApp messages or what to send for their applications....remember that everyone’s circumstances are different. I feel things like travel history and general background of the individuals applying (especially your spouse) matter a lot. Put yourself in the shoes of the visa officer. If there is something you are uncomfortable about rather than lie or ignore it explain it in the additional information section...that’s what it’s there for. If you have substantial travel history show that that you do...make them see that your desire to relocate is because of your spouse. If you don’t have the pictures put the steamy conversation from your WhatsApp, if not put the pictures you have. Look through the guidelines carefully and make sure you put all the necessary documents to show that you just want to start the rest of your life with your spouse. No one wants to willingly keep two people away from each other if they genuinely love themselves (of cause there’s the bit about proving you won’t be using U.K. public funds for the next 5 years but yea that’s how developed countries protect themselves )

I’m sure all those waiting will have successful applications! God has already done it for us.

Woooow!!!! Hope no mistakes in your dates, I also applied Settlement priority on the 4th of October 2017 and I just got a decision made email on Friday though I had made a mistake in the category and chose settlement -marriage.

Please what magic was used lol.... or could it be because of the mistake they delayed?

Should be picking up my passport next week

My people..I thought I should update you on my situation from my previous posts, seeing as a few of us have made the same mistake of selecting Settlement - Marriage category instead of Settlement - Wife / Husband.

I received an email from the Sheffield office today with the IHS link asking me to make the IHS payment by 29th November, which I have now done. My hubby was dancing when I told him about this. He seems to think my application is going to be approved now.

I’m really hoping that by making the IHS payment, even after this error, my application gets approved..and soon. Fingers crossed!

Hey house!!! Update, got an email that a decision has been made and my TLS contact website has been updated to decision made! Feeling nervous now to go collect my passport cool Praying to God it’s positive.

Hi guys please I need your urgent and immediate help and advice.

I applied for my spousal visa last 2 weeks (Priority) and my spouse a British Citizen living in the UK has submitted the supporting documents, however, I just came across this topic and saw where a poster wrote he had applied for settlement - marriage and had to change it to settlement - husband.

I called my hubby and told him and he said he was sure it was settlement - marriage only for him to call his lawyer who told him it was settlement - wife.

I am a bit worried now but the lawyer advised I wouldn’t be rejected on this basis that we should write a letter to them stating the error and asking them to provide the link for the health tests or so...

Their application plat form is so confusing, Settlement marriage, settlementwife, Settlement husband, civil partnership etc damn!

Anyone had this experience?

You need to act fast, without paying the NHS health charge you are likely to be refused.

Should I wait for them to send the link to me to pay as I stated in the letter or go directly to the website and pay?

I had the same issue. I was also advised to write Home Office (HO) to inform them of the oversight. But knowing how easy it is for HO to reject applications, I decided to cancel my application of settlement-marriage and reapply using the right category of settlement-husband. Money down the drain. Settlement-marriage is for applicants, who are not yet married, but are seeking to get married in the UK. With the settlement-marriage visa one is NOT eligible to work and is granted for a period of 6 months (as compared to 33 months for settlement-husband/wife).

I decided to recall/cancel my settlement-marriage application about 1 hour after I had sent it off. I was still at the visa application center when I realized I had made a mistake. I went down stairs to pay for the IHS payment via these visa agents in side shops, only for one of them to inform me I made the wrong application and that I should cancel to avoid the risk of my application being rejected.

Who advised you? My own has gone way past a week and I just came across this page and saw the error. I have written to them so I guess fingers crossed? Or at most they would give me the 6 months marriage visa

I had this issue while filling my application online so I left that one to fill another one. I did settlement - marriage initially then later did another one of settlement - husband as the right one because the first one didn't take me to IHS payment which I learnt was needed. I paid $1918 while IHS was $816.

The problem is it’s already been over 2 weeks and I’ve submitted every single thing already plus the supporting documents and paid for priority.

I have written a letter to them explaining the error and hope they would send me the IHs link. Their applications are so damn complicated.

Honestly i don't know what means, settlement wife and settlement husband?

How much was your visa application and what document(s) did you and your husband submitted?

You know when applying for settlement/spousal visa, you are to select the sub category,I selected marriage but the lawyer said it was wife I was supposed to select.

I paid over 2000 dollars and the the documents were those required for spousal visa.... his utility bill etc pictures of us, tuberculosis test, appendix 2 etc
