Hello everyone in the process of visa application. You probably have a lot of ideas, rumors and plans in your mind. Do not be weighed down. The process is not as difficult as many Nairalanders portray it to be. I had my visa interview on December 29, 2016 at Indian Embassy in Abuja. It was successful and I was asked to come for visa collection this week. As a way of showing appreciation for all the information available to me through Nairaland, I have decided to give a step by step guide to India visa application. Please note in this guide that this is just my personal experience. It may not apply in all cases. Some of the documents I submitted may not be required but there is no penalty for submitting more documents than required.
Let me tell you a little about my case; I am currently enrolled in a PhD programme here in Nigeria. I want to spend 5 months in Estonia to carry out part of my PhD project. I got a scholarship which will cover my travel cost and living expenses for the duration of my research in Estonia. I will be studying in the University of Tartu.


List of documents I submitted for Indian visa in Abuja;
Visa application form (the one that has your visa appointment date on it)
International passport ( Old passport and the new passport if you have any expired passport)
Photocopy of data page of international passport
Admission letter
Scholarship letter
Letter from Estonian university to Indian embassy
Yellow fever card (I just included it)
Bank account statement (I used a sponsor; Your sponsor should be your relation with the same surname otherwise you may need to prove your relationship if you use someone else)
Hotel reservation (reserve a hotel in India where you will stay when you go there to apply for Estonian visa. Do not pay for the hotel yet)
Flight reservation (Do not pay yet. Depending on your plan. I reserved Lagos to India, India to Estonia, Estonia to Lagos. Have in mind the date you plan to travel to India, duration of study and how you want to travel; remember you appointment date with Estonia embassy)
Authenticated copies of my primary, secondary school certificate, B.Sc. and M.Sc. results and transcripts
Letter of sponsorship (signed by my sponsor)
A copy of booked Estonia visa appointment
Age declaration (Because I do not have a birth certificate)
Sponsor’s affidavit (Signed in the law court or by a lawyer)
NYSC certificate
Any other document you think may help support your application.

Why do you want to go to India?
What do you want to study?
What is your specialization?
My answer; Geochemistry
What is geochemistry?
How did you apply for the scholarship?
Have you been to India before?
He signed on my form and asked me to go make visa payment and do biometric.
During the biometric, I was asked to tell them the date of my Estonian visa appointment.
After the biometric, I was told to come back this week thursday to pick up my visa.

No! NDLEA certificate is NOT a requirement. It is required probably when they suspect ulterior motive for wanting to travel to India.

Hello everyone. I had my visa interview today at Indian embassy in Abuja. It was successful. I was asked to come back on Thursday next week to collect my visa.
A big thank you to all Nairalanders. All the information I needed for the visa process was got from Nairaland. As a way of expressing my appreciation, I will post a list of all the documents I submitted, steps and processes I passed through during the application.

The reason is because I have already start my Belarus tourist visa requirement and once the Visa is given can I apply for Estonia visa please I need reply ASAP

what are the docs u used to apply?
i read on their site that their visa processing is within 2-5 working days and visa fee is btw 40-100 euro

Egypt is easier when all docs are complete. The prob is application takes longer time minimum of 3weeks. So u have to start early if you choose to use the route.

So far so good, I've more than 5pple in Egypt at d moment.

is there Estonia Embassy in South Africa

are u for real I spoke to their Consular in SA but he said they do not issue Visa that you have to come to London.
He can try Egypt? but what happened to India? Was there and wrote on my application to bring NDLEA...Hope they wouldnt change their mind by the time the NDLEA is ready...I think its high time we start a plan B

am in a confused state right now as i am at the verge of getting my documents ready for application come January 2017, i have a little issue which might turn out to be a serious one, my English test was OK(TOEFL=91) but am a little scared about my O'level(NECO) result which i passed with four(4) credits including maths and English and five(5) ordinary passes which is made up of D7 and E8. I really want to know if i stand a chance of getting admitted if i apply with this result?

Pls your candid advise will be appreciated...

Do we have any University in Nigeria that accept 4credits for Degree Programme? Even if they do, you will be on bond to provide the complete result before graduation. Only NCE and Some Private Polytechnic can accept that but All the same, you can inquire from the sch

I didn't bother mailing euroacademy cos they can't give you any info. I mailed NARIC straight day and they replied day before yesterday. The guy said my evaluation is still on but will be ready in the near future. So I just relax. Coz Euroacademy can't tell me anything yet cos even then have not seen the result too. SO let's just chill and wait.
As for this Indian people, they don't want to comply. Co's now it's the same hitches people were having in Egypt route that started scaring them is what Lagos people are facing now I'm Indian route. Yes it's true success stories comes rol Indian bUT u can't be 100% sure if u have not tried other routes tho. I'm till thinking on the Egypt route shaa even if it means going through an agency to get their visa, I know it won't be as hilarious as that of india. Still weighing my options tho.

Date u will get to India.. For the deadline, I guess it just for formalities.. Ensure u take your time to follow all processes.

Yes @ health insurance, it's mandatory. Swisscare was what pple that left early used but I was told they may Call them BCk to get another one though not sure. As for me, I'm buying ERGO

Trip to India :- ticket shd be BTW 280-300+, you will go with 500-700dollars (optional)

Yes, there's direct flight from Nigeria to Estonia.

Direct flight from Lagos to Tallinn might cost you BTW 500-600 euro though you may see it cheaper. The last one a friend bought was around that figure

Gotten Letter of Acceptance, I was mandated to get visa on or before 30th of October for them to send Certificate of Enrolment to Estonian embassy in Delhi.

Im on the race, May God help us all.
