Smart, here's a quicker method
Since they are in arithmetical progression,
d= 2x+3 - 2x
= 3
Also d= 2x - (x+1) = x-1
.•. 3 = x-1
.•. x = 4

Find the value of x if x+1, 2x and 2x+3 are consecutive terms of a linear sequence.
