House pls how do I get the IHS link... all I get is an error message. What can I do pls?
You should be directed to make the IHS payment as part of the application process.
Did you select Settlement - Marriage or Settlement - Husband at the start of the application?

Hello

Did your wife went to Lagos Embassy as part of the process ? Secondly, did you posted additional documents to your wife to take to Lagos?

Thanks
She went to VI for her biometrics appointment. I sent my financial documents to my wife in Lagos for submission but she was told at her appointment that the documents have to be sent to UKVI in Sheffield so she had to return everything back to me.

Do you know any contact @ Vulcan or can you send the email you have for Vulcan to confirm if I sent to the same address..

Thanks
Vulcan House is where they process priority applications. That's where I sent my wife's supporting documents. If you applied priority then it has gone to the correct team. If you applied standard then you've done the right thing calling them. As they have escalated it then it should be sent to the appropriate team for processing.

Concerning WhatsApp messages, I can't rule that out. For our application, we had no phone records except WhatsApp messages and whatsapp calls, viber calls, Skype records and Facebook posts. No visit to UK, except hubby's visit to Nigeria for our wedding ceremonies. About 80 pictures containing wedding pictures, school pictures together and casual pictures. We submitted a truck load of WhatsApp messages dating years back, as our main mode of communication.
I didn't submit phone records either as our only mode of comms was via WhatsApp and FaceTime, and I thought they wouldn't want detailed WhatsApp messages and I didn't have a long enough history of our FaceTime calls. I only submitted about 40 photos of my wife and I - wedding photos and other time together.

The way I see it, its better to send WhatsApp messages irrespective of whether they're considered. Honestly I wish I had sent ours as it would have saved me from a lot of stress wondering if they'll refuse my wife's application because we didn't provide any communications.

Praise the Lord, Hallelujah! The Lord has graduated another student from the school of nairaland.
I was here weeks/months ago, heartbroken about the court verdict in Nigeria on local government issued marriage certificate. I asked the house on their opinions and @justwise advised I push ahead with the application.
A big thank you to the house, everyone who contributed years ago to date. @justwise thank you so much. To all new and waiting students, study the manuals and do your best to submit as much documents as you can.

Type of Application: Settlement wife (Priority)
Online application submitted: 31st October
Biometric: 9th November
Email confirmation of support documents received: NONE
Decision made: 7th December
Collection email: 7th December
Courier delivery: 8 December
Picked up: 8th December

It took exactly 1month from my biometric. We are super excited as newly weds (last year) that have been separate since the wedding and hubby returned to UK.
If you can afford PRIORITY please do. It saves time and sleepless nights.
Time to go warm up hubby from the extreme cold in UK. grin
Congratulations. Glad your PRIORITY application came through so quickly. It bodes well for others coming behind you.

Congratulations!

Still wouldn't advice anybody to exclude evidence of communication..call log, whatsapp, Facebook etc.
Thanks.

I absolutely agree with you that people should not exclude WhatsApp or Facebook messages if available. It's better to be on the safe side and send them even if not required. They can't reject anyone for sending too many documents abi? Worst case, you've wasted paper printing the messages.

My warning is more towards those that may rely primarily on WhatsApp messages as evidence of relationship and don't send many photos or phone records. If these messages is not used in their consideration as my friend advised then that could result in a refusal.

He is wrong, pray that you submitted other evidence of communication that will compensate for excluding your whatsapp chat.

Whatsapp chat you submitted is not for VOs to read all the pages .
I didn't submit any evidence of communication as we've been communicating only through WhatsApp chat and FaceTime videos - for which I couldn't retrieve historic phone records. I only submitted about 40 photos of us with evidence of timelines linked to the photos where feasible. All the same, it all worked out as my wife got her visa.

I thought this too. I saw a notice that they didn’t want to see people’s conversation on some website- I can’t remember which- but since everyone here send in their convos and 90% get in, I’ve decided to send in mine. But thanks for your input.
No worries. I didn’t actually think to send ours - obviously because of the private nature of some of the convos and I figured they wouldn’t be interested in that level of detail - until I saw loads of people on this forum were sending theirs. Joygirl2017 probably remembers me panicking about it last month LOL.

Just as you believe that chat logs can be altered, same thing can happen with photos and electronic receipts. There are a host of other factors that the ECO looks at in deciding each application, not just photos or chat logs. If you believe it's appropriate not to include evidence of your daily conversations with your partner because it can be faked, that's your prerogative. If you have looked at printed WhatsApp conversations then you might understand what I was talking about.
First of all, you can verify an electronic receipt or passport stamp, that was the point of my lawyer friend saying it’s a better way of evidencing a relationship - again, not the only way. Secondly, abeg when did I say it was appropriate not to include daily conversations? I simply explained just for people’s awareness what I was told about WhatsApp chat logs by my friend, who btw has nothing to gain by deceiving me as I’m not paying for his services. I didn’t think it would lead to argument and insults.

You have been ill advised. No one has the time to alter hundreds of pages of chats. The only chat logs that seem to get dismissed by UKVI are usually cut and paste Facebook chats. The ECO might decide to pick a few random pages to look at. My lawyer had to read all of our unfiltered chat logs before submitting.

When you are in a genuine relationship, spouse visa is not the first thing you think about when you are taking photos. We didn't even take a lot of photos together and if my wife didn't save them, I wouldn't have had the chat logs either. I only submitted wedding photos and photos of my wife's visit to Nigeria plus over 500 pages unfiltered WhatsApp chat logs and got my spouse visa. My lawyer didn't include our photos in the UK together.
To say no one has the time to alter hundreds of pages of chats, you might think that but who’s to say the ECO or UKVI believes the same. If they feel there’s potential fraud and means for deception, wouldn’t a diligent outfit consider all possibilities? I mean if people are prepared to swim across the channel to get to Europe or pay large sums of money for fraudulent documents, what’s to stop them from altering a few hundreds of pages of chats?

There’s no way an ECO could know whether or not your chat logs were unfiltered. You’ve mentioned photos of your marriage and your wife’s visit to Nigeria, maybe that was enough for them. The Madame Tussaud’s example I gave was simply to say an approach that he advised works best, not works alone.

When I sent supporting documents for my wife’s application, I included photos of us in front of the White House along with the flight e-ticket receipt to DC with both our names on it, mentioning it in my letter to them. We didn’t take the trip or take the photos because we were planning to apply for spouse visa. We weren’t even planning on getting married back then but thankfully I still had the email when we needed it.

Wow. Nice. Did you print out all 500 pages and submitted to them? Mine is almost 3500 pages, it would be insane to print all these out. Insane! So I screenshotted the word document showing the number of pages that our chat is, then attached the 15 page screenshots (6 shots per page). Do I still print out the chats though?
I was worried I didn’t send any WhatsApp chats between my wife and I so I spoke to a friend who’s an immigration lawyer and he told me that UKVI don’t consider WhatsApp chats as legitimate evidence of a relationship because names and messages can easily be altered. He also said no caseworker will spend time reviewing several hundred pages of chats when they’re working to tight deadlines and pretty much bin such documents when received. Not sure if this is 100% the case but just letting everyone know what I was told.

He advised photos are much better so long as you can also provide supporting documents evidencing the location and timing of the photos, e.g. taking a photo at Madame Tussaud’s with entry tickets showing the date taken and also passport stamps or flight tickets which prove both parties were in the country at the time. It’s the equivalent of marriage photos taken - the marriage certificate and passport stamps or flight tickets would be considered as supporting evidence of the date the photos were taken.

Alleluia, he has done it oooo oooo oooo. Visa given. Vignette is 9th Nov to 9th Dec. My case is really different. Wifey did not meet up with financial requirements and I didn't really know despite knowing that she had to cut down her hours so as to have more time for our son.
So I just packaged my accts to send totalling £15900 as added funds from me.
God is faithful, sending my timeline soon.
The good news doesn’t stop. Congratulations o! Very happy for you and your family. Thank God.

I don't think sending document(s) without them requesting is right..
Just pray and hope the ones you've already sent will do the work and if they need more, they'd surely contact you.
All the best!!!
joygirl2017:
1. It depends on time u sent it if isnt more than a week or the time frame given
You can still send the documents and write additional documents and briefly explain why you adding :
And pray they see it on time cos read people's review in other groups how they lose documents
Thanks both. We made a priority application and yesterday went past the 10 day timeframe of when documents should be received so it's probably too late to send more documentation. Maybe I'm just being paranoid after reading some of the reasons people have given for their applications being rejected and don't want to take any risks. As suggested I will just pray and hope the ones already sent will do the work.
