Crime24 Boko Haram Suspects Arrested In Auchi By Nigerian Army - Otaru Of Auchi by Godson222(op): 3:25pm On Jun 12, 2017
The monarch of Auchi, who is called the Otaru of Auchi Kingdom, Alhaji Aliru H. Momoh, in Edo, on Monday announced the arrest of 24 suspected Boko Haram members in the community by the Nigerian Army.

The monarch said that the commandant of the Nigeria Army School of Engineering, NICOHO, near Auchi, informed him of the arrest of the suspected insurgents.

“Shortly before you came, I had audience with the commandant,” he said.

The further disclosed that the army told him that the suspects parades themselves as Fulani herdsmen in the town.

“He informed me about what they are doing and the arrest of some 24 suspected members of Boko Haram operating under the guise of Fulani herdsmen in the community,” he added.

The Otaru, who decried the activities of the herdsmen said “we have asked farmers, especially the women, to stop going to the farms for now”.

“We gave them some grants to enable them to engage in petty trading in the mean time, to avoid the incessant attacks on them.

“The traditional council is collaborating with the army, security agencies, and some vigilance groups, and we have recently incorporated the hunters to help to evolve lasting solutions to the problem.”

The Fulani herdsmen menace has taken over the country and it is believed to be a major cause of lack of farm produce across the country.

The Nigerian army is trying their possible best to bringing Boko Haram insurgency to an end and since they are successfully reducing their activities, the terrorist are now taking new measures.

Foreign AffairsPuerto Rico To Become 51st U.S State If Approved By US Congress by Godson222(op): 11:03am On Jun 12, 2017
Puerto Rico’s plebiscite on Sunday showed overwhelming support by Citizens for Puerto Rico to become a U.S. State.

A referendum website own by the government, Puerto Rico’s fifth since 1967, showed that 97 percent of nearly 485,000 voted in favor of Puerto Rico to become the 51st state of the US.

Even though the country is still counting votes and the expected outcome would not change Puerto Rico’s shift as a U.S. territory, the move still requires an act of the U.S. Congress.

Congress, the only body that can approve new states, will ultimately decide whether the status of the US commonwealth changes.

For Puerto Rico to become a US state, Congress would need to pass a statute laying out the transition process. If Congress does not pass a statute, Puerto Rico’s status will remain as it is.

About The Island.

The island has a 45-percent poverty rate, $70 billion in debt, woefully underperforming schools, and near-insolvent pension and health systems.

The Plebiscite

Ricardo Rossello, Puerto Rico's Governor, campaigned for the island’s 2.2 million eligible voters to select statehood as a way to boost future growth for the struggling island.

However the Governor made it known that if they are to become US state, they will have equal rights with other U.S. citizens.

Puerto Ricans who voted for US statehood in a non-binding referendum Sunday are "claiming our equal rights as American citizens," Puerto Rico's governor says.

Puerto Ricans have three options in the plebiscite: becoming a U.S. state; remaining a territory; or becoming an independent nation.

“I voted for statehood,” Armando Abreu, a 74-year-old retiree, said after voting at the Escuela Gabriela Mistral. “Even if it’s still a long way off in the distance, it’s our only hope."

The opposition parties called for a boycott of what they called a "rigged" process in part over the ballot language.

EducationFederal Government Spends N3.77b For Feeding Of 1.28m Pupils In Nine States by Godson222(op): 9:22am On Jun 12, 2017
The Federal Government of Nigeria, under the Home Grown School Feeding Programme, has released N3.77 billion for the feeding of 1,287,270 school children in nine states.

Mr Laolu Akande, Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Acting Presifent Yemi Osinbajo, said the money was spent in Anambra, Enugu, Oyo, Osun, Ogun, Ebonyi, Zamfara, Delta and Abia states.

Mr. Akande noted that the money is paid directly from the Federal government’s coffers to the cooks, with a slight difference in Osun State where some of the food items were bought centrally by an aggregator.

The Special Assistant on Homegrown School Feeding Programme in the office of the Vice President, Mr Dotun Adebayo who led a team of both federal and state officials to the schools said they witnessed the feeding in three schools in Awka: Community Primary School, Awka South; Central School Ameobi, and Central School in Nibo.

“The pupils were excited and enjoyed the meals,” Adebayo said.

Mr. Adebayo added that the cooks in those three schools, among the total 774 already recruited and trained for the feeding programme, served ‘okpa’ a.k.a moin-moin garnished with vegetables to the delight of the pupils who took the meals during their break time about noonday.

Aside from encouraging school pupils to embrace education, the programme is in line with the United Nations’ steps to boost nutrition in children.

CelebritiesI Got Married In Prison - Kemi Olunloyo by Godson222(op): 11:44pm On Jun 11, 2017
Popular Nigeria and US journalist, Kemi Olunloyo, who was recently released from a Port Harcourt prison after spending 81 days in detention, has revealed that she got married in prison.

She made this known in a message she shared on her Instagram page.

She wrote: “I GOT MARRIED LIKE I PROMISED TO IN 2017. Yes I got MARRIED to someone in prison.

“This is my FIRST SUNDAY away from #PHMax prison. I lean towards Catholism and Islam which I grew up in and attended the Catholic church inside the prison.

“There are up to 4 churches and a mosque in there plus the Pentecostal churches that visits inmates weekly and bring us the word of God and provisions.

“I became a bible reader.

“The same bible I ripped in 2016 as being a “storybook” of fiction may have been real. I studied what the prophets of old said. It seems unreal but these things likely happened.

“But why are we commercializing religion and brainwashing the congregation? I will become a Woman of God very soon and use my prophetic abilities and bible story knowledge to apply wisdom to your lives. Prison always make all inmates spiritual…right?.

“Hell No! Jesus shows up in the most expected places. Unlike the enemies of the #freethesheeple movement who are so Christ obsessed? I did not find #Jesus. He found me! Jesus is my first and new HUSBAND! I have never been married or divorced in my entire life. This will be an everlasting relationship.

“Say Alleluia! May God forgive your sins too! Don’t be obsessed with religion. Minimize!

CelebritiesFamily Reveals Cause Of Moji Olaiya's Death by Godson222(op): 11:29pm On Jun 11, 2017
The Family of Moji Olaiya has revealed the actual cause of her death in a statement which debunked claims that she was poisoned by a friend.

In a statement signed by Femi Olaiya, brother to the late Moji Olaiya, the family said an autopsy report revealed that she died of a natural medical cause.

The Statement reads;

“The Olaiya Family appreciate the immense outpouring of love and affection the public showed the family since the sudden and untimely death of our beloved Sister, Moji Olaiya, and the huge support we received for her burial.

“We also want to use this medium to specially thank the Burial committee and all those who were involved in helping to raise funds for the return of Moji’s remains to Nigeria, we are eternally grateful to you for rising above the grief to support the family.

“This is also appreciating Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, erstwhile governor of Lagos State for his humane and philanthropic gesture in providing the required funds to transport Moji’s corpse back to Nigeria. Thank you, your Excellency. Indeed, Moji received burial befitting queens because of all your efforts.

“We wish to use this opportunity to debunk claims circulating on social media that a friend in Canada poisoned Moji. An autopsy was conducted; the autopsy reports indicated that our dear sister died of a different cause that can be termed natural medical cause.

“It is not the desire of the family to have anyone implicated in her death having seen the autopsy reports, therefore, we appeal to friends, fans and the general public to accept Moji’s death as an act of God though rather unfortunate.”
