PoliticsBoko Haram Slaughters 42 Farmers In Kebbi by Godson222(op): 12:10pm On Aug 17, 2017
No fewer than 42 farmers from Aliero town, in Aliero Local Government Area of Kebbi State have reportedly been slaughtered by suspected dislodged members of the Boko Haram terrorists.

The terrorists were reported to have fled Borno State while escaping from the war zone areas.

Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu who confirmed this, on Wednesday, while addressing World Health Organization (WHO) delegates, said the victims went to Borno State for farming before they were murdered.

The WHO delegation had visited Kebbi on a courtesy visit.

Governor Bagudu says, “Just last week I was informed by one of my Commissioner that 42 farmers who are from Aliero were slaughtered by Boko Haram in Borno.

“They allowed one of them to come home free to say what happened to them”.

Governor Bagudu added that over 7,000 displaced Nigerians, who crossed over to Niger Republic, were recently re-deported to Kebbi State thereby compounding the challenges faced by the State.

While acknowledging low immunisation of children against diseases in the state, Governor Bagudu said the influx of children from Benin and Niger Republics including IDPs camps in the state, posed great threat to success of the exercise.

Speaking earlier, representative of WHO in Nigeria, Dr. Wondimagegnehu Alenu, told Governor Bagudu they had discovered that there was low immunisation in the state.

He stressed that there was need for government to embark on routine immunisation of children against diseases.

GTB made this known via its Facebook page while replying one of its’ customers that deviated to the medical student topic on a post the Bank asked a question titled #haveyouseennigeria.

“This donation was not made by GTBank, but by the University of Nigeria Medical Students Association, who made use of their cheque leaflet to create a dummy cheque. We congratulate the young woman on her remarkable achievement and wish her the best in all,” GTB posted.

CrimeShekau Is Selfish, Going Against Objectives Of Insurgency - Factonal Leader by Godson222(op): 6:20pm On Aug 08, 2017
A video released on Tuesday by the factional leader of Boko Haram accused Abubakar Shekau of going against the objectives of insurgents.

The video was posted on YouTube by Abu Musad Al-Barnawi.

In the video, Al-Barnawi accused Shekau of using Boko Haram to perpetrate crime.

Al-Barnawi, has predicted that the Shekau’s faction will suffer defeat at the hands of the Nigerian army.

He said that the group was created by Muhammad Yusuf for the purpose of propagating good teachings and practice of Islam.

Instead, Shekau, he said, had turned Boko Haram to an avenue for perpetrating all forms of criminality.

The video showed gory actions of Shekau, instead of the compassion they were supposed to show.

A man purporting to be a Boko Haram fighter threatened in a video April that the group will bomb Nigeria’s capital, Abuja, a statement that should serve as a wake up call for Nigeria’s security services.

Reuters said the suspected fighter for the terrorist group made the threat in a video obtained by Saharareporters and Dubai-based Nigerian journalist, Ahmad Salkida.

“More bombs attacks are on the way, including Abuja that you feel is secured,” said the man in the video in Hausa. As he spoke, he was flanked by four other armed men.

In April, Department of State Services (DSS) said it had thwarted plans by Boko Haram to attack the British and U.S. embassies in Abuja.

About 82 girls were freed last Saturday in exchange for Boko Haram commanders after being held captive for three years. They were among about 219 kidnapped by the jihadist group from the town of Chibok in northeast Nigeria in April 2014.

In a second video seen by Reuters, one of a group of four females covered in full-length Muslim veils claiming to be among the abducted girls said she did not want to return home.

“We don’t want to reunite with our parents because they are not worshipping Allah, and I urge you to join us,” she said, holding a rifle and speaking in the Hausa. She added: “We have not been forcefully married to anybody. Marriage is based on your wish.”

CrimeSon Of Osama Bin Laden, Hamza Bin Laden (28 Years) To Head Al-qaeda (PHOTO) by Godson222(op): 1:42pm On Aug 01, 2017
Hamza Bin Laden, the son of late Osama Bin Laden, is expected to take-over Al-Qaeda, a terrorist organisation.

Described as the “Crown Prince of Terror” Hamza is the only son of Bin Laden’s “favourite” wife.

Hamza Laden was also regarded as the “poster boy” of al-Qaeda’s re-emergence on the terrorism front.

He was introduced as “a lion from the den of Al-Qaeda” by the group’s leader Ayman al-Zawahiri.

He is the son of Bin Laden’s third of six wives, Khairiah Sabar, and the eighth born of around 20 Bin Laden siblings.

His mother came from a wealthy family and was known as a “strong-willed” woman.

He was raised as Bin Laden’s designated heir and grew up hating several things about the USA. He is wanted by the US for his alleged role in American embassy bombings in Tanzania, Dar es Salaam and Nairobi, Kenya in 1998.

Now believed to be aged 28, he is a devotee of violent jihad just like his father. Hamza Laden married the daughter of the former head of al-Qaeda’s training camps Abu Mohammed al-Masri.

In May, an audio recording suggested that he was staging al-Qaeda’s comeback. The Washington Post described Hamza’s voice as “vintage Osama bin Laden.”

“Prepare diligently to inflict crippling losses on those who have disbelieved,” the voice intoned.

Another audio message was recorded in 2015, in which he praised terror leaders and denounced former US President Barack Obama as “the black chief of [a] criminal gang.”

He also called on jihadis to “take the battlefield from Kabul, Baghdad and Gaza to Washington, London, Paris and Tel Aviv.”

InvestmentNigeria Loses $300bn In Oil Investments Globally In Three Years - Ibe Kachikwu by Godson222(op): 6:35pm On Jul 31, 2017
The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr Ibe Kachikwu, on Monday lamented the loss of 300 billion dollars in oil investments globally in three years, due to the decline in oil price.

Kachikwu, who stated this at the 2017 Society of Petroleum Engineers’ (SPE) Nigeria Annual International Conference and Exhibition (NAICE) in Lagos, said the losses were in oil exploration and production.

The theme of the conference is: “Building the Waves of Boom and Burst: Common Objectives Diverse Perspective”.

The minister said on the Nigerian side, the loss of these investments was due to inefficiency in the country’s security policy and inconsistency in policies.

According to Kachikwu, investors prefer to invest the limited resources elsewhere in African countries; so what we are losing, other countries in Africa are gaining.

“The situation is very challenging when it comes to losing opportunities arising from investment.

“For the first time in the oil sector, the decline in the oil price resulted into loss of jobs.

“Infrastructural gap is another factor which the decline in the price created.

“We have an infrastructural gap deficit of 50 billion dollars because government was responsible for infrastructure and we did not engage the private sector.

“The whole idea of the new petroleum policy is to move the private sector into financing part of the projects, because Government cannot do it alone,’’ he said.

The minister said the boom and burst had become the way of life in the oil and gas sector.

“I think we have had about five circles of boom and burst over the last 35 years and each time, we begin as if we did not expect it.

“The boom and burst has become the nature of oil and we should not be surprised anymore.

“Over 80 per cent decline in world oil price was recorded between 2014 and 2016 with oil price falling between 25 dollars per barrel.

“All the same, we have managed through the principles of OPEC, to keep the price going between 45 and 50 dollars per barrel.

“For now, our expectations between the year 2017 and 2018, is to keep the price at 60 dollars per barrel,’’ he said.

Kachikwu, however, said some countries and people were moving away from oil.

He said that electric motors were taking over globally.

“In the next 20 to 25 years, oil lifespan will expire, so we just need only five years to make a change of policy in the sector.

“We must make a traumatic decision for the oil sector to survive the innovation.

“The country needs a consistent policy and to deal with inefficiencies in our system to survive the trend,’’ he said.

Welcoming the participants, Mr Saka Matemilola, the Chairman, SPE Nigeria Council, said the mission of the conference was to disseminate information as regards the oil and gas sector.

Matemilola said petroleum sector remained the main focus of the national economy.

He said the current challenges in the oil sector provided the necessary catalysts to provide opportunities for the country.

PoliticsOil Workers Ambush: Boko Haram Can't Stop Oil Search - Unimaid's VC by Godson222(op): 2:21pm On Jul 31, 2017
The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Maiduguri, Prof. Ibrahim Njodi said despite the recent Boko Haram attack, the search for oil will continue in the Lake Chad basin.

Njodi made the commitment pledge when a delegation of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC and the Ministry of Petroleum visited him in Maiduguri.

The delegation was led by Engr. Saidu Mohammed, Chief Operating Officer in charge of gas and power unit of the Corporation.

Prof. Njodo told the delegation that though the entire University community was distraught by the cruel incident of July 25th 2017, the University cannot ‘’Chicken out’’ from doing what it is supposed to do when eventually the NNPC re-organizes and return to exploration work in the area.

Tracing the University’s partnership with the Corporation to over 12 years ago when the NNPC teed-off exploration activities in the Chad Basin, the UniMaid VC described the cruel attack on the Frontier Exploration Services/Surface Geochemistry Sampling team comprising the NNPC, Consultants from University of Maiduguri, Consultants attached to the Integrated Data Services Limited, (IDSL) a subsidiary of the NNPC and Civilian escort team, as an act of God.He noted that the situation painful as it might appear must be seen as a necessary sacrifice for the development of the country.

Prof. NJodi, however, called on the NNPC to stand firm beside the University and the families of the bereaved and provide the much needed support to overcome the massive setback wrought by the insurgent attack.

Engr. Mohammed said as a responsible corporate entity the NNPC would do everything within its means to support the University and the families of the victims of the attack.

“We have been great partners with the University of Maiduguri for many years and certainly when losses like this happen and under this circumstance, we cannot abandon our partners to their fate,’’ Engr. Mohammed said.

He promised to return to the University after conferring with the Honourable Minister of State for Petroleum Resources and the Group Managing Director of the NNPC.

Earlier, the high powered delegation paid a similar visit to the Governor of Borno State at Government House Maiduguri where the deputy governor of the state, Alhaji Usman Durkwa, charged the NNPC not to allow the attack to dampen its morale in the quest for new oil finds in the region.

Before leaving Maiduguri, the Delegation paid a visit to the Theatre Command Headquarters of operation Lafia Dole where a formal condolence letter from the HMSPR was handed over to Brig. Gen. Stevenson Olabanji who stood in for the theatre commander.

General Olabanji restated the readiness of the military to perform its statutory role of providing security cover for exploration activities in the Chad Basin and beyond.

Meanwhile the Group Managing Director of the NNPC, Dr. Maikanti Baru upon return of the Delegation over the weekend, announced some short term palliatives for victims of the attacks.

Foreign AffairsObama, Bush, Clinton Are Foolish Past Leaders - Donald Trump by Godson222(op): 11:56am On Jul 30, 2017
American President Donald Trump has excoriated his predecessors over their policy stance on China by allowing the country’s trade with US to boom, while it has done nothing to rein in the military expansion of North Korea.

Trump in a tweet late on Saturday referred to past leaders as foolish. These leaders will include Barack Obama, Bill Clinton and the two Bushes, George Jnr and his father.

“Our foolish past leaders have allowed them(China) to make hundreds of billions of dollars a year in trade, yet…they do NOTHING for us with North Korea, just talk. We will no longer allow this to continue. China could easily solve this problem!” he said in tweets late on Saturday.

Trump who believes he is smarter than any one else in America, allowed today two B-1B bombers to fly over the Korean peninsula in a show of force after recent North Korean missile tests.

The U.S. Air Force said in a statement on Sunday that the B-1B flight was in direct response to the missile test and the previous July 3 launch of the “Hwansong-14” rocket.

North Korea had on Friday said it conducted another successful test of an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) that proved its ability to strike America’s mainland, drawing a sharp warning from U.S. President Donald Trump.

The bombers took off from a U.S. air base in Guam, and were joined by Japanese and South Korean fighter jets during the exercise, according to the statement.

“North Korea remains the most urgent threat to regional stability,” Pacific Air Forces commander General Terrence J. O’Shaughnessy said in the statement.

“If called upon, we are ready to respond with rapid, lethal, and overwhelming force at a time and place of our choosing”.

The U.S. has in the past used overflights of the supersonic B1-B “Lancer” bomber as a show of force in response to North Korean missile or nuclear tests.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un personally supervised the midnight test launch of the missile on Friday night and said it was a “stern warning” for the United States that it would not be safe from destruction if it tries to attack, the North’s official KCNA news agency said.

North Korea’s state television broadcast pictures of the launch, showing the missile lifting off in a fiery blast in darkness and Kim cheering with military aides.

The Hwasong-14, named after the Korean word for Mars, reached an altitude of 3,724.9 km (2,314.6 miles) and flew 998 km (620 miles)for 47 minutes and 12 seconds before landing in the waters off the Korean peninsula’s east coast, KCNA said.

Western experts said calculations based on that flight data and estimates from the U.S., Japanese and South Korean militaries showed the missile could have been capable of going as far into the United States as Denver and Chicago.

China, the North’s main ally, said it opposed North Korea’s missile launches, which it said violate United Nations Security Council resolutions designed to curb Pyongyang’s banned nuclear and missile programs.

“At the same time, China hopes all parties act with caution, to prevent tensions from continuing to escalate,” China’s foreign ministry said in a statement on Saturday.

However, Trump said he was “very disappointed in China”.

North Korea refers to the United States as its sworn enemy in its propaganda, and has done so since the 1950-53 Korean War in which the Soviet and Chinese-backed North fought against the U.S.-backed South. The isolated country often shows mockup images of a missile hitting key U.S. landmarks in its media.

Christianity EtcHow To Deal With Temptation by Godson222(op): 9:13am On Jul 30, 2017
In today’s episode, we will be looking at how to handle temptation. Temptation is an enticement, an allurement or a seduction. It is a strong desire or urge to have or do something that is bad.

In dealing with temptation, we must necessarily be conscious of it. It is only then, that we can make up our minds to overcome.

Our consciousness of temptation helps us to abstain. When we are conscious , we are careful not to meddle with it and by extension fall into sin. Temptation in itself is not sin, but sin arises only when we yield.

Genesis 3:5-6 KJV

[5] For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. [6] And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

From the passage above, the devil in tempting Eve, got her because of two things:

1. She listened to what the devil was saying

2. She looked and beheld that the tree was good for food and pleasant to the eyes.

In dealing with temptation therefore it is advisable to learn abstinence. The Bible tells us to abstain from all appearances of evil. (1 Thess 5:22).

The appearance of evil, though not sin in itself, can lead us into sin if we do not abstain. King David walked the roof top of his house when men had gone to war. The devil then showed him an appearance of evil by way of a naked woman taking her bath. If he had quickly turned away he would not have fallen.

Also remember Joseph and Potiphar’s wife. How that he overcame by running for his dear soul leaving his garment in the hand of the adulterous woman.

Job learnt and understood the need for abstinence.

Job 31:1 KJV

[1] I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid?

You too can do the same.!!

Ephesians 4:27 says ” Neither give place to the devil”. This we can do through abstinence. But we must dwell strongly in the word if we must overcome.

Psalm 119:9 KJV

[9] Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.

Be blessed as you read, comment, like and share to bless others with this message.

CelebritiesRe: World's Highest Paid Comedian Nets $69 Million (PHOTO) by Godson222(op): 11:40am On Jul 29, 2017
Godson222:
American comedian Jerry Seinfeld has emerged world’s highest- paid comedian by earning 69 million dollars in one year.

The 63-year-old stand-up comedian and actor topped the list of 10 highest paid comedians released by Forbes Magazine on Friday.

According to Forbes, the rating is based on the Hart’s total earning between June 2016 and June 2017.

The magazine reported that a huge Netflix stand-up deal boosted Seinfeld’s bottom line to the whopping 69.0 million dollars.

Seinfeld’s pal Chris Rock is second on the list with a 57 million dollars, followed by Louis CK, who earned 52 million dollars.

Dave Chappelle and Amy Schumer round out the top five with 47 million dollars and 37.5 million dollars, respectively, while Sebastian Maniscalco is at the bottom of the list earning 15 million dollars.

Surprisingly, Kevin Hart, who was named the highest paid comedian in 2016, moved down to the sixth position with a 32.5 million dollars earning.

Forbes noted that massive deals for TV comedy specials, like 20 million dollars per-special contracts, that Rock and Seinfeld scored, are what bolstered the incomes of most of the top comedians.

Forbes added that it created its list based on revenue from touring, television and film projects and business and endorsement deals.

It calculated the figures on the comedians’ pretax income from June 1, 2016, through June 1, 2017.

Jerry Seinfeld, known by fans as “insurmountable King of Comedy” has maintain the lead on the highest earners list since 2006,except in 2016 when he was displaced to second position by Kelvin Hart.

He is an actor, director and stand-up comedian ‘observational comedy’, often ranting about relationships and embarrassing social situations.

In 2005, Comedy Central named him as “12th Greatest Stand-up Comedian of All Time”.

Godson222:
Police in Birmingham, England is seriously in search of two different attackers who raped a 15-year-old girl in a railway station.

The girl was walking with a friend into Witton train station when a man approached her, led her to a secluded area of the station, and raped her.

Shortly after the attack, the girl left the area and flagged down a passing car to ask for help; when she got into the vehicle she was sexually assaulted for a second time by another man, police believe.

The girl reported the attacks which took place between 7 p.m. Tuesday and 2 a.m. Wednesday to police when she got home.

Birmingham authorities and the British Transport Police have appealed for witnesses and launched a major investigation into the “horrifying” attacks, which are being treated as two separate reports of rape.

“This was a horrifying ordeal for this young girl and we have specially trained officers supporting her,” Tony Fitzpatrick, a detective chief inspector from the British Transport Police, said in a statement.

“It is now vitally important we investigate exactly what happened as well as identifying offenders for both of these awful incidents.”

Authorities have seized all CCTV footage from the vicinity in a bid to identify the perpetrators and are appealing to anyone who may have been in the area at the time to come forward.

Police described both suspects as Asian men in their early twenties.

Fitzpatrick added: “We are now doing all we can to trace the people responsible and bring them to justice.”

PoliticsRe: Fayose Speaks On OBJ Third Term, How He Picked Yar’adua And Destroyed Katsina by Godson222(op): 8:31am On Jul 28, 2017
Godson222:
Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose has not spoken with President Muhammadu Buhari in the last two years.

Gov. Ayodele Fayose said he refused to speak with the President’s security chief to whom his calls to the Presidential Villa were diverted because he considered it an insult.

“Well, we met twice or so during the Council of State meetings. There is nothing personal. I represent Ekiti State, he represents Nigeria. That is the basis of our interaction. Nothing personal,” Fayose said.

Asked if he had said as much as ‘hello’ to the President, Fayose added: “No.”

“For me, during our meeting, whenever any issue arose and I felt I should make a contribution, I raised my hand and spoke. That is it.

“I remember I tried to call him several times before he took ill. Then, there was this day I called again and the switchboard told me that any call from me must be diverted to President Buhari’s Chief Security Officer (CSO). And I felt that was very insulting.

“The CSO to the President is an ordinary policeman, who I assume, is just a little over and above my own CSO. I am a governor, a governor of a state. I felt that was an insult to the people of Ekiti State I represent.

“Yes my calls to him (the President) were diverted twice to the CSO. I refused to talk to the CSO because I consider it insulting,” Fayose added.

Fayose speaking on the Third Term agenda of ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, he said while the principal officers of the National Assembly in 2006 got N100million each, the other lawmakers were given N50million each.

He alleged that the former President knelt down for the late Libyan leader Mouamar Ghaddaffi to seek his backing for Third Term.

He also said Obasanjo knew about the ill-health of the late President Umaru Yar’Adua before he was picked as PDP candidate.

He said “Yes it is true. The people I am going to mention here, two of the key players are now dead. That position of Presidential Selection Committee that I headed was set up by all PDP governors. Initially, they wanted Dr. Olusegun Agagu. Then, the majority insisted that they wanted Fayose. So, since the majority wanted me, Baba (Olusegun Obasanjo) invited me to Ota and encouraged me to go ahead. I remember the committee was made up of Governors Danjuma Goje, Ahmed Makarfi, Bukola Saraki, James lbori, me and one other person who I cannot remember now. I want to tell you that, at some point, the majority of the committee was more disposed to having Markafi as the presidential nominee. l and one other person were the only dissenters.

“So, as a loyal Obasanjo boy then, I went to Obasanjo and told him that this committee that was set up, everybody seemed to prefer Markafi except me and one other person and we were in the minority.

“Five out of seven governors wanted Makarfi. Then Obasanjo pointedly told me that Markafi was too smart and would not be easily controlled by him and, therefore, I must ensure that Markafi did not emerge the presidential candidate. He mandated me to be briefing him often about the way things were going.

“He confided in me that whether it was Markafi or anybody that he was not prepared to leave. At that time, the Third Term agenda had begun to unfold in Abuja. I can tell you that l was co-opted into the secret committee that was behind it. In that body, we had this senator from Plateau, Ibrahim Mantu, Senator Andy Uba and many others. We were the key players. Let me tell you the truth: at that time, I did not have a choice. l was just a young man without experience.

“…The senators started at about 11am in the morning and by 1 pm each senator was asked to stand up and say ‘yes’ or ‘no’ before live television coverage whether they supported Third Term or not, and the majority had their way. So Obasanjo’s dream of Third Term was shut down. Thereafter, he called a national meeting of PDP, termed reconciliation meeting and denied that he asked or worked for Third Term.

“Meanwhile, before that time, N50 million was given to every federal lawmaker to support Third Term. The majority collected the money and still voted against Third Term. Principal officers got N100 million each. Where did that huge sum of money come from?”

Fayose opened up on the politics behind the choice of the late President Umaru Yar’Adua as a presidential candidate of PDP.

He said the current Chairman of the PDP, Sen. Ahmed Makarfi was sidelined in favour of the late President Umaru Yar’Adua.

“Let me now come to the Yar’Adua issue. Obasanjo now called me and said, ‘Now that Third Term has failed, you should go ahead with the PDP committee. And in order for me to check those rooting for Markafi, I should go and sound Yar’Adua out on the ticket. He told me, ‘Don’t tell him I asked you to come. You psyche him up’. So, l met Yar’Adua in his lodge in Katsina. I met Yar’Adua in the company of Yakubu Tanimu (who became his influential chief economic adviser) and his police orderly.

“I remember that while our interaction lasted, the orderly knelt down close to Yar’Adua. I acted as directed by Obasanjo, but the man told me expressly that he was not well enough to aspire to be Nigerian president; that the job would be too rigorous for him.

“After much persuasion, he then told me the only condition under which he might consider running was if all stakeholders would sign up and reach an agreement to pick him as the consensus candidate because he did not want any hassles,” he said.

He said: “ I remember, before then, Yar’Adua was hardly attending Council of State meetings because of his health. So, l went to tell Baba what Yar’Adua told me. On the issue of Yar’Adua’s ill-health. I remember Obasanjo told me, ‘Don’t worry about his sickness; government money dey to manage his ill-health.’ Baba told me to go and put the outcome of my interaction with Yar’Adua in writing.

“Then Masari became the first loser; because, until then, Bello Masari as the Speaker of House of Reps was very loyal to Baba and did all the dirty jobs Baba wanted him to do, with the promise that he would be made the next Katsina governor after Yar’Adua. But once Yar’Adua became anointed as PDP candidate, he preferred Shema to be his successor. That was one of the conditions he listed. That was how a wedge came between Yar’Adua and Masari.

“That was the genesis of the rift between Shema and Masari up until today. Shema was then the deputy national chairman of PDP. That was how Masari defected to CPC. What I am trying to say is that Obasanjo engineered all the bitterness that exists in Katsina politics today.”

HealthThere Are No Killer Anti-malaria Drugs In Nigeria - NAFDAC by Godson222(op): 10:04am On Jul 26, 2017
The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has said that there are no €˜killer anti-malaria drugs in Nigeria.

The Acting Director-General, NAFDAC, Dr. Yetunde Oni, who stated this yesterday at a news conference in Lagos, said the reports in the social media on the ‘kidney-killer’ malaria drugs were false as there are no such drugs in the country.

Against the backdrop of the dangers posed by the drugs, the Senate had flayed the NAFDAC and Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) for not adequately waging the war against the influx of fake and sub-standard items into the country.

The NAFDAC boss said the allegedly banned drugs are oral monotherapies containing single Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) such as Artesunate as contained in Arinate tablet, Amodiaquine contained in Comoquine, Dihydroartemisinin contained in Alaxin tablets and Pyrimethamine contained in Daraprim tablets which are not recommended for the treatment of malaria in Nigeria.

She said the agency is committed to the well-being of Nigerians and so wishes to douse the tension and correct the misinformation on the social media and mainstream media about the banned drugs.

Oni said: “We want to douse the tension and correct the misinformation on the social and mainstream media about the 42 anti-malaria medicines purportedly banned by the European Union (EU) but allegedly circulating in the country.

The Acting DG, therefore, urged Nigerians to use the recommended anti-malarial medicine Artemisin Combination Therapies (ACTs) for the treatment of malaria, which is in line with the guidelines according to the WHO and the Nigeria National Anti-malarial Treatment Policy.

She, however, noted that with the progress made in the anti-counterfeiting technology device (Scratch and Text) put in place by the agency to monitor fake drugs, the agency would in some weeks deploy software on phones to checkmate the status of any NAFDAC regulated products.

Responding on the use of chloroquine as an anti-malarial drug, Director, Registration and Regulation Affairs, NAFDAC, Mrs. Titi Owolabi, said though the drug is in the market, it does not serve as anti-malaria as it has its own functions.

She urged Nigerians to stop using the drug in the treatment of malaria as it serves another purpose.

CrimeRe: Man Sentenced To Life Imprisonment For Beating His Own Son To Death by Godson222(op): 2:59pm On Jul 25, 2017
Godson222:
A man who beat his girlfriend’s five-year-old son to death in a British park because the child lost a shoe was sentenced to life imprisonment on Tuesday.

Marvyn Iheanacho, 39, from London, was found guilty at Woolwich Crown Court of the murder of Alex Malcolm.

Witnesses heard a male voice screaming about a lost shoe while a child fearfully apologised on Nov. 20, 2016.

Police said, “the child sustained a deadly brain injury and internal bruising to his stomach; a post-mortem examination concluded this had been caused by a kick, stamp or punch.

“Iheanacho was later seen talking on his phone while a child lay on his back on a bench next to him, a limp arm dangling down.

“Rather than taking the boy to a nearby hospital, only five-minute’ walk away, Iheanacho took him home in a taxi, where he attacked the boy’s mother, Lilya Breha, when she tried to call an ambulance.’’

The boy died in hospital two days later.

His shoe was found in the park by police shortly after the assault took place.

“Iheanacho subjected that poor little boy to a brutal assault after flying into an uncontrollable rage just because Alex lost one of his shoes.

“Afterwards, Iheanacho came up with various stories to try to cover his tracks, insisted his girlfriend lied to him, and attacked her when she tried to get medical help for her unconscious son.”
