It is what it is. That's the country we live in now. It's a miracle to keep an agreement. You should read the threads I enbedded in the article to see what people were saying. It was terrible. Zonefree: |
I'm here to thank God and share the wonderful story of what God did for me. I couldn't do it in church because I didn't want the atention to switch to me instead of on the God who has done this. That's why I prefer to share it on a faceless forum like this where the focus will be on what happened instead of on me. It's very easy for us to dismiss the mighty works of God as just coincidence. When I made a post in the Auto section detailing how I deposited 10 million naira on a car without taking the car with me, just about everyone told me I had made a serious mistake. They were right. I made a serious mistake that only God could save me from. The first thing I did when I was ready to buy a car was open a thread asking Nairalanders to help me choose one. I presented a list of nine cars I was considering, and Nairalanders gave me their opinions, which helped me settle on the Acura MDX. You can read it here: https://www.nairaland.com/8231325/please-me-choose-these-three Now that I knew which car to buy, I started searching on Jiji. My initial plan was to buy from the US, but the current state and uncertainties of clearing at the wharf made me decide to buy here. I found a nice-looking Acura MDX on Jiji advertised for 9.3 million. The ad even said the price was negotiable. We called the seller to confirm availability, which he did. So, i took an uncle on an all-expense paid trip from my base in the East to Lagos. When we got to Lagos, we rendezvoused with yet another uncle before heading for Berger - all three of us. On getting to Berger, we found the guy and found the car. The car (SUV) didn't belong to him. The actual owner said his price is 15 million naira, and not the 9.3 million I saw in the Jiji ad. We met another seller of a similar model and after much negotiation he agreed 12.5 million naira. The problem is I didn't plan for that budget. I had 10 million naira. My uncles convinced me to deposit the 10 million I had with me after I promised to come back in the first week of November to pay the balance. According to my uncles, they noticed agbero guys milling around and was worried we might be attacked if we leave with the money we came with. I would later realize I made a serious mistake depositing that money without driving away the SUV, even if it meant leaving them with the original papers. You can read the thread of how Nairalanders showed me my mistake here: https://www.nairaland.com/8241705/updates-car-wanted-buy-photos The comments were very interesting and extremely scary. I knew I had made a mistake, the sort of mistake that was uncharacteristic of me. Some outright told me they could bet their this and that, that I could never get the exact car I paid for when I go back to pay the balance. Others swore the dealer would sell the SUV before I returned. So many things were said, and I knew they were right. At such a time, I go on my knees and speak to my God. I remind Him of things only two of us knows. I asked Him to intervene for me. I pleaded for His mercy. My testimony is that when I returned to Lagos in November with the balance, the SUV - that same exact SUV - was just sitting there waiting for me. No story attached. This was despite the fact I couldn't even make it in the first week of November as I promised. The SUV waited for me for roughly a month instead of just one week like I promised them. It's incredible and I know it in my heart that only God could've done this. Some said I was just lucky. Some said I was lucky to meet an honest dealer. I don't think I was lucky and I can't speak for the dealer as being an honest man. I know it was God, short and simple. My mistakes didn't end at leaving 10 million naira with a stranger who presented himself as a car dealer at a car lot without even knowing where his actual office is. My mistakes didn't end there; I didn't even check the custom duty before depositing 10 million naira on a car. I didn't test-drive it. Yes, I've learned from these mistakes and will never repeat them in my life, but I refuse to believe I was "just lucky." I'm a man of grace and have been enjoying God's grace since I was a baby. Learn from and don't make my mistakes. However, if you do make a mistake in your dealings, you can rely on God to protect you. That's what God is all about. He protects and keeps His own. People of God: PRAISE THE LORD!!!!

Don't I know it. Thank you. oladipuposadeeq: |
Hi again, everyone. You didn't hear from me all day because I arrived my base in the South East at around 9:30 pm. I have been on the road. This is someone who took off from Lagos a little after 6 am. And this SUV is incredibly fast. Damn. It's like they built it to be quick. Still, police and customs kept delaying us until we lost so much time. I'm just glad I made it home safely, with my new SUV snoring in my house. After everything and the hbp I almost developed😁, I feel very grateful to God. I know He did this one. I also take this as a mighty lesson in my life. |
Thank you very much Applemann: |
I wish I am as rich as Obi Cabana so that I can "wash" for everybody. I have been "washing" since last night, and I didn't even know what awaited me on the road. Nadingo: |
Done. Confirm receipt. Starboytwo: |
I'm already back. We survived the harshest scrutiny of both police and customs on our way back. In fact, I intend to make a separate thread on my experience on the road. If you love Nigeria, you'll weep for her everyday. Anyway, they checked and checked and checked and used their smartphone to verify via the system and couldn't find a single discrepancy anywhere. So, everything is perfect. greggng: |
Thanks. I certainly learned. kayswag100: |
Good question. Like I said earlier, IRS agents roam the area. As they saw us making that deposit of ten million naira, they offered to prepare the license plates, insurance, etc. so, it was done and was waiting for us before we came back this November to complete the payment. Soon after we arrived, they came with the license plate and other documents. pak: |
Thanks. But you remember I said my uncle is a pro driver. Thanks anyway. Sultty: |
