A driver simply identified as Samson has been arrested for killing his boss and dumping his body in a septic tank at Ekiadokor area of Ovia North East local government area of Edo State. Two other suspects were also arrested in connection with the killing.
It was learnt that Samson sold the vehicle of his boss to an herbalist at Ovbiogie village and told the victim’s children that their father was kidnapped.
Police sources said Samson informed the victim’s children who are based abroad that the supposed kidnappers were demanding for N2 million ransom.“Samson collected some money from his boss’s children with a promise that their father would be released soon,” the sources said.

The lid blew on the suspect when some relatives visited the residence of the deceased and discovered the decomposing body inside a septic tank. The driver was arrested by policemen from Ekiadolor Division while trying to collect the balance of N500,000 for the car he sold to the herbalist.

The collapse didn't affect everyone, not at the same time anyway. Fashola said, it happened at 8:20. Many comments reiterated his submission, but mine happened at a couple of minutes past 9.

There's an area in my city that has uninterrupted power. It's off-grid, but it isn't close to the city center, which is why I haven't moved. It's entirely possible that they may also be tethered to the grid, and may have been affected by this collapse.

Or his blackout had nothing to do with the grid and was just a coincidence as his off-grid network had issues at the same time.

There are places in Nigeria that don't experience power outage. Never have, never will.

Right now tho', at least from anecdotal evidence, it appears they are rotating steady power. It typically lasts for 2-4 months. An area would have steady power for a while, after which, it reverts back to epileptic power, then another area with epileptic power starts getting steady light.

I suppose it is more egalitarian tho'. At least until power generation improves drastically.

It happened in my case. 2 months of steady power. Now it's back to 9 hours of power daily. But right now in my state, there are regions getting steady power that didn't use to when the going was good for us.

Presidency on Tuesday in Abuja summoned critical stakeholders in the nation’s oil sector and the leadership of security agencies in the country to end the scarcity of petrol in the country.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the meeting, presided by the Chief of Staff to the President, Alhaji Abba Kyari, is being held behind closed doors.

The meeting is also being attended by the Minister of Petroleum, Mr Ibe Kachikwu, Director-General of the Directorate of State Service (DSS), Lawal Daura, and the Group Managing Director (GMD) of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). Maikanti Baru.

Others attending the meeting are the Comptroller-General of Immigration, Alhaji Muhammed Babandede, some presidential aides and other stakeholders in the oil industry.


President Muhammadu Buhari had on Jan. 1, during a nationwide broadcast, expressed sadness over the unnecessary hardships inflicted on Nigerians during the Christmas and New Year celebrations following acute petrol scarcity across the country.

He attributed the hardships to the activities of a few but heartless individuals working within the nation’s oil and gas sector.

Buhari, however, reiterated the determination of his administration to get to the root of the persistent petrol scarcity, and ensure that whichever groups were behind this manipulated blackmail would be prevented from doing so again.

The scarcity is said to be caused by greedy marketers who tried to take undue advantage of the high inter-state movements during the season.

NAN, however, observed that the long queues in filling stations in Abuja and Lagos have disappeared in the last two days as promised by the GMD of NNPC, Maikanti Baru.

Baru also on Friday vowed that Nigerians would not go into 2018 with the scarcity of petroleum products.
