A middle aged Lebanese man identified as John Greg has been arrested by police operatives after he run a woman down with his car in Lagos state.

A police statement said the suspect who was driving a Toyota 4Runner recklessly and against traffic on Sanusi Fafunwa Road hit a woman identified as Omotomi Akinsanya .

The police statement added that the accident resulted in serious injuries to the victim’s leg

He sped off but was chased and arrested, a statement from the spokesperson for the Lagos state police command said, adding that the Suspect is now in their custody.

The spokesperson said the vehicle is impounded and has been taken to the station.

He said the victim is undergoing treatment at LASUTH, adding that the vctim’s family and the Embassy of Lebanon are duly informed.

A disagreement between two young boys in Jalingo, the Taraba state capital led to the death of one boy.

An eyewitness identified as Sulaiman Ibrahim stated that the young boys who were Almajiris engaged in an heated argument before one of them used a knife to stab the other.

The reason for the fight is unknown as at the time of this report, but Ibrahim told salemgists that the incident happened at Jumma’a Mosque in Saurara area of Jalingo .

It was learnt that the young boy died at the spot and the suspect was taken into custody by the police.

This is coming after a bomb blast was reported in Nukkai area of the capital, Jalingo. Salemgists told you that 11 people were confirmed to have been injured in the blast.

Barcelona broke the attendance record in women's football for the second time in a month as 91,648 supporters watched them beat Wolfsburg 5-1 at Camp Nou in the first leg of their Champions League semifinal.

The previous record crowd for a women's game had only been set by Barca in March, when 91,553 people attended their quarterfinal against Real Madrid -- 95 fewer than attended Friday's game.

Prior to that, the women's record had stood since 1999, when 90,185 fans watched the World Cup final between the United States and China at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.

"It was spectacular, both today and a month ago against Madrid," midfielder Patri Guijarro said in a news conference after the game. "We're speechless, really. I'm sure as the days and years pass, we will become a bit more of what we have achieved. We're still not completely aware of the magnitude of [the attendances]."

However, some estimates suggest 110,000 people attended Denmark's win over Mexico at the Azteca Stadium in the 1971 World Cup final, a tournament that was not officially sanctioned.

Barca usually play their home games at the 6,000-seater Estadi Johan Cruyff at the club's training ground, but their Champions League knockout games have been moved to Camp Nou to accommodate the bigger demand for tickets.

Disclosing this in a statement, the spokesperson of police in the state, SP Gambo Isah, said two kidnapped victims were also rescued during the operation.

He said:

“Today 21/04/2022, at about 0400hrs, a distress call was received that terrorists in their numbers, armed with AK 47 rifles, attacked Tsamiyar Gamzako village, Kafur LGA and kidnapped one Hama Sanusi, ‘F’, aged 30yrs and her daughter, Aisha Sanusi, ‘f’, age 15 months. Consequently, a combined team of Police and vigilante group were alerted. The team blocked and engaged the hoodlums into a fierce gun duel.”

“The team successfully repelled the terrorists and neutralized two of them. The kidnapped victims were rescued alive unhurt. In the course of scanning the scene, one AK 47 rifle with four (4) rounds of 7.62mm ammunition and two locally fabricated pistols with six (6) rounds were recovered. Some of the terrorists escaped and fled the scene as search parties are still combing the area with a view of arresting the fleeing terrorists.

A new born baby was found abandoned in an uncompleted building by an unknown person in Kaduna Yesterday, April 21, 2022.

It was gathered that the baby was discovered in the early hours of Thursday, wrapped in just a piece of cloth.

It was also gathered that the abandoned baby was found in Juji Village, Chikun Local Government Area of the state.

It was fortunate that the baby was found alive, hale and hearty.
