BRAZEN LOOTING: KLEPTOMANIACS NEGOTIATE WITH THEMSELVES & BANDITS

How did Nigeria go from potential Regional Power to “ Fantastically Corrupt” in less than a generation before our eyes? Now denied visas where Nigerians got red carpet, suspects where Nigerians were welcomed and ridiculed where Nigerians were trusted. It is so bad, Nigeria has become the butts of jokes in Africa up to the Presidential level. Aware that many Nigerians are watched closely, professionals in high places abroad would not dare touch or accept cash.

Nigeria is not the only rich country in Africa but once foreign international corporations explore and get interested in the loot of war interest, they disguise themselves as dogooders coming to help the gullibles gain political power. Too many Africans tolerate a bad leader from their ethnic group, no matter how corrupt, but not a good leader from another ethnic group. They are stuck in their delusions that only a member of their ethnic group can raise their standard of living.

The tolerance for looters is so high, even when they are convicted at home or abroad, their people welcome them like heroes returning in victory from war fronts. Wild parties, coronations and elaborate ceremonies are performed for those who should face firing squads or life sentences as in other countries. Indeed, some of them are recircled back into political parties. If they are popular with an ethnic group, they can shop for Presidential tickets from any party.

Politicians, Militricians, Retired Generals, anyone running for political office or for appointment to juicy positions in order to loot, must ask for the blessings of these kingmakers. It's a competition to get hold of the Honey Pot. They are willing to hire foreign financial experts, lawyers or Public Relations Officers, at any cost to launder unaccountable loot. Retired Generals constitute a special class that make or undermine the political future of candidates.

Many Africans and Nigerians in particular employ the services of foreign lawyers and financial experts to hide their loot in safe haven abroad playing the role of the Queen of Shaba or Mansa Kanka Musa by displaying stupendous wealth in millions and billions. It is mind boggling how so much money could be diverted to personal foreign accounts and pockets. Even worse, in most of these cases, avoid accountability at home or abroad by greasing the palms of passages.

Meanwhile, bandits and terrorists have joined them, demanding security ransom to get their share of National Cake. What is left are crumbs on the floor thrown to the hungry voters in small packages of food so that they can keep coming back for more before voting day. Call it stomach infrastructure, incentive or inducement to vote for a particular candidate. Hunger relief, even for a temporary period, reduced poor people to beggars, especially with a family at home.

POVERTY REDUCTION GAIN MORE VOTERS THAN MERCENARIES

There is no other way to look at the Poverty Report and not confirm that Nigeria is the undisputed Poverty capital of the world. Whoever is advising this Administration must recalibrate their strategy and focus on Poverty Reduction. There are too many Nigerians complaining of their inability to care for their spouses and children. Men leaving homes in the morning without coming back with sustenance are disrespected in their houses.

This is how communities break down without fathers at home just like political prostitutes with or without a party looking for Any Party In Power. Many are mercenaries without followers or members to vote for them. Buying them instead of using the money to alleviate poverty at the grassroots is unwise and may be counter productive. As stated a long time ago, too many heavyweight without followers will sink the boat.

The Main Pillars of Poverty Reduction strategies are comprehensive plans, including job creation designed to lower poverty rates. Fostering employment, improving housing stability and connecting residents with health and social services. Awolowo Poverty Reduction Strategy: Industrial Estates, Cooperative agriculture (cocoa), rubber, Palm Oil were able to pay for Free Education and Free Healthcare.

Voters’ mentality is changing. The era of stomach infrastructure is finally backfiring as more people realize that being fed for a day or a month in exchange for a four year term is foolish. Even some poor that are returning the sachets of rice know it would not last them for a day. Since they can spend that time begging on the street rather than wasting their time on the line. Their blind allegiance as followers of many party leaders has failed to alleviate their poverty.

When political prostitutes call you unprintable names, then turn around after incentives to sing your praises, they are called mercenaries and unprincipled psychopaths. They have lost their integrity as leaders that will attract credible voters to your party. The money spent on these mercenaries could be better spent reviving some of our old neglected factories rather than the pursuit of new foreign contacts. They only give odious loans that create jobs in their countries.

Yes, Jonathan was our biggest hope and so rewarded with votes North and South of the country. One of the reasons is we thought a minority would not chop and go like the Fulani/Hausa, Igbo or Yoruba who just want to be President regardless of the poverty of their own people.

Actually apart from wailers that will bring this country down unless they are in power, there are some points here about how Nigerians impoverished Nigeria.

One of the worst was during Jonathan's Administration. We pinned so much hope on him because he was a highly educated man from Nigeria Delta. He got votes from North and South with so much Goodwill. Alas, he lost all the goodwill because of those in charge of his Administration. A very humble man became cocky calling his benefactor Motor Park tout.

Even worse they stole like crazy bragging about producing more billionaires like Dokunbo Asari while the place he from remains in environmental rot.

Do not forget that Western Region was First In Africa while most of the countries mentioned in Europe and Asia were jungles.

Whatever or whose side you believe, it is informative to know the limitations and prejudice of dating translated from one culture to another.

This is the main lesson from Abuja Local Election. It's got nothing to do with Wike or Tinubu but everything to the insight of bringing the indigenous people of Abuja to the table.

Abuja Is A No Man’s Land

When Abuja was being planned, it was indicated that they were looking for a neutral place, unlike Lagos or Calabar that already belonged to ethnic groups. Every Nigerian would be welcomed and there would be no domination of one group by the other. Has anyone heard about how much allocation were made to others, less prominent than late Senator Kuta son of mud hut settlers? If Nigeria has anything to learn from our past, it is that one day, the educated son and daughters will demand their share of the land owned by the forefathers. We all know that Abuja itself was created like Israel by cutting space out of existing states. But I am not sure that we are doing everything to make sure some of these prime land allocations are extended to many sons and daughters of its soil.

The early settlers were the Gbagyi, Bassa, Gade, Gwadara, Koro, Ganagana, Beriberi and others. Before the ambulance chasers or lawyers start running around taking briefs as in Lagos land cases in court, one would think that our Government would anticipate trouble down the road and pre-empt any claim of injustice. Our attitude has always been to cross the river when we get there. Land is very important, not only in Nigeria but every where.

We have some of the most beautiful universities campuses in Nigeria; compared to Harvard with crumbling structures and rooms that have to be renovated often to keep them in shape. Nigerian universities are more modern compared to Harvard or others.

Religious practices also offer a sense of purpose to life and offer solace during hard times. Even when there is help out there unknown to you, it is still a personal battle until we find a solution. We call on our saviors, god of Amadia, Sango or Magazawa. But where do our Pastors and Imams go for treatment overseas when we need them at home?

Experienced parents naturally pull and prevent their loved ones from danger. Humans have the same instinct animals have when they pull and protect their curbs from danger. When children and wives get raped in front of their fathers and husbands, you wonder what type of warped mentality derive pleasure from such aberrations. If you are not helpless and as strong as thunder; it takes seconds to strike abusers dead.

Just as we complain that there are too many problems, some of them we bring upon ourselves. Relatives as close as adult children, brothers and sisters set up their parents for extortions. One claimed his father was too stingy. Another got himself kidnapped to share money with strangers. If anything goes wrong or the victim is not as rich as expected, desperadoes are unpredictable and can take a life without remorse.

A son was arrested by police while driving Black in America, with his parents. Any reasonable son would have known that many times Police see a Black driving an expensive car in America, they are always checking to see what he could be charged for or invent a crime. The Police stopped the car and put their son in handcuffs. Both parents, upset, were protesting their son's innocence. Until the son pointed to a camera recording the ugly scene as a prank!

The National Assembly should criminalize scam artists, spiritual charlatans and ritualists equally. Regardless of their religious affiliation or origin: locally or foreign. Pastors and Imams exploit these foreign religions the way their slave masters use it to capture us. There used to be Jesu Oyibo that popularized nondenominational services in those days and he demanded tithes, usually a percentage of their salaries, from members to run the Church.

When any of us is down and in distress, we need somebody to lean on. We become vulnerable to whoever promises us deliverance. We've seen skillful doctors, scientists and the very rich travel far and wide outside their expertise and country for cures; only to die for lack of primary nursing care. In our most vulnerable moments, no matter how much money we have, according to billionaire Steve Jobs, we cannot buy another body to replace us on our dying bed.

The Pastors and Imams that blackmail in the name of God, by extorting money and sex from followers or politicians are popular, their transgressions are forgiven while Pastors and Imams that denounced them are ignored. They call themselves miracle workers but go overseas for treatment of various diseases. They claim they cure the same diseases. Pastors or Immans also protect themselves with armed body guards but tell followers to rely on God's protection!

Africans still have reservations about exposing Catholic Church priests for extortions while the rest of the world have sued them in courts and collected millions of dollars in compensation. We just do not believe that religious leaders could be so advantageous. Even when people come forward and claim they have been extorted or blackmailed by religious leaders, some of us still express some doubts and blame the victims in Africa. Pastors' money greed excludes religion.

Whatever religion we believe in, foreign or indigenous, brave Imans & Pastors before now had condemned charlatans among them. The Petitions of Adelabu to DSS over Primate Ayodele’s ₦150m Demand For ‘Spiritual Help” reminds us they are not better or purer than native doctors who demand unspeakable rituals. Police have raided “fetish” shrines in the Eastern or Western parts of the country but there are some reservations for foreign religious pastors and imams.

Another Pastor, Chris Okafo, founder of Liberation and Miracle Ministry was accused by Nollywood Actress Doris Ogala of various sexual affairs with members of his Church. His Nepo daughter in Canada also claimed there are more salacious secrets which she would reveal unless Pastor Okafor pays her school fees for the past year in thousands of dollars in Canada. He denied most of the allegations but kneel down in Church and beg for members’ forgiveness.

Sometimes you have to wonder if most pastors are sex maniacs or they become sex maniacs with the authority of the pastoral calling. It could also be one of the fridge benefits of the job.

It's puzzling how a section of the country that have ruled Nigeria even before full Independence as Governor, President, occupied most powerful positions in Obasanjo and Jonathan's Government either by alliance with NPC or coup d'etat:

It makes you wonder how those who were proud to be led as Leader of Opposition feel.
