An Israeli air strike killed a top commander with the Islamic Jihad militant group in Gaza on Monday, the Israeli military and a source in the group said.

The killing of Hussam Abu Harbeed, Islamic Jihad's northern division commander, was likely to draw a fierce response from the militant group as Israel's fighting also rages on with the enclave's Islamist rulers Hamas.

In a statement confirming it had killed Harbeed, the Israeli military said he "was behind several anti-tank missile terror attacks against Israeli civilians."

The military said those attacks included one on the first day of the current round of fighting that it said had injured a civilian in Israel.

Harbeed had been a commander with Islamic Jihad for 15 years, the military said.

The IDF’s Maglan Unit tracks and eliminates Hamas’ Kornet launching squads.

IDF Special Forces operating on the border with the Gaza Strip have been successful in detecting and eliminating some 10 Hamas squads who were engaged in firing anti-tank rockets at Israel, including four on Thursday by noon.

The Maglan Unit uses special technology to hunting and neutralize Hamas’ Kornet launching squads.

A Hamas squad killed IDF soldier Omer Tabib, 21, and injured three others on Wednesday near Netiv Ha’Asara.

Maglan, which is means Ibis bird in Hebrew, is an Israeli special operations unit that specializes in operating behind enemy lines, deep in enemy territory, using advanced technologies and weaponry. It is part of the IDF’s Commando Brigade.

The special technology it uses is a military secret.

The IDF has advanced intelligence-collecting methods it uses across the border from the Strip, providing full control of the intelligence situation and rapid deployment of forces with countermeasures.

These two crucial elements have led to the IDF’s success in this mission.

ISIS supporters say the Palestinians should abandon their nationalist goals and wage a holy war against the Jews.


The radical Islamic social media machine run by ISIS is exploiting the violence in Israel to push a new message: The Palestinians should wage a jihad (holy war) and kill the Jews, an Israeli watchdog group reported this week.

The Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) released a report Monday showing that pro-ISIS websites and social media channels want the Palestinians to start an all-out war against Israel.

MEMRI found that these sources are using the riots and rocket attacks to push their message of jihad, encouraging Palestinian Arabs to intensify their violence to achieve a Muslim victory over the Jews.

Beginning last week, several pro-ISIS Telegram channels posted calls for attacks on Israelis and Jews, under hashtags like #Hunt_them_O_Muwahid and #SlaughteringTheJews.

Other pro-ISIS channels posted links to old ISIS videos threatening Israel and Jews and urged their supporters to spread the videos and links under the trending hashtag #PalestineIsMyCause. Under the same hashtag, some channels posted a compilation of segments from official ISIS videos declaring that ISIS is at war with Israel and the Jews and urging Muslims to kill Jews.

Over the weekend, the pro-ISIS Al-Battar Foundation released a poster titled “O People of Palestine, This Is the Only Solution,” urging Arabs to reject nationalism and democracy and wage uncompromising jihad against the Jews, asserting that this is the only way to defeat Israel.

At the top of the poster is a compilation of images, including the Dome of the Rock; scenes of Israeli soldiers arresting Palestinians with bullseyes drawn on the figures of the soldiers; Palestinian protesters throwing rocks; Palestinian Authority head Mahmoud Abbas and Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh; and armed ISIS fighters standing guard and reciting from the Quran.

The text beneath the images states that the “filthy Jews” expel Muslims from their homes, and that they dare to do this only because “the Muslims of Palestine have relished the weakness represented by nationalism, patriotic zeal, and all forms of jahiliyah [ideologies reminiscent of pre-Islamic paganism].”

The poster adds that “nothing will deter the Jews but the method of the Prophet, namely jihad for the sake of Allah,” explaining that, if any method of nonviolent struggle were effective, Allah would not have commanded Muhammad to endanger his life through armed struggle against his enemies.

The Al-Battar poster stresses that the fight with the Jews is a clash of religions, not nationalities: “The Jews fight you for the sake of their religion and do not recognize nationalism, with which they bewitch your minds.”

By discrediting Palestinian nationalist movements like the PLO and Hamas, it warns the Palestinians not to rely on any group that “does not make waging jihad for the sake of Allah its evident, ongoing method.” Such groups, it says, pose no real threat to Israel, otherwise Israel would have fought them “and the war would not have subsided until one of the two sides was destroyed.”

According to Al-Battar, the PLO and Hamas only “traffic in your blood, possessions, and honor, and do not care what happens to you as long as their worldly interests are secure.” Al-Battar preaches that all armed groups are fighting either for Allah or for Satan, implying that the Palestinian groups fall into the second category.

A rocket fired by Hamas at the city of Sderot on Wednesday evening hit a building, killing five-year-old Ido Avigal and seriously injuring his mother.

Sirens sounded throughout Wednesday night in southern, central and northern Israel, including in the Lower Galilee and the Jezreel Valley, as Hamas continued its massive rocket onslaught targeting Israeli civilians, cities and towns.

A rocket fired by Hamas at the city of Sderot on Wednesday evening hit a building, killing five-year-old Ido Avigal and seriously injuring his mother, who is now on life support. His sister was treated for light injuries, and his cousin was also seriously injured.

Early Thursday morning, a rocket exploded in Petah Tikvah in the center of the country, wounding one person moderately and several others lightly. The IDF’s Search and Rescue was one site to help rescue the victims.

Gaza-based terrorists have fired over 1,500 rockets at Israel since Sunday night.

the Israeli Air Force (IAF) continued its campaign to uproot Hamas’ vast terror infrastructure, and its jets hit dozens of terror targets in the Strip, including ones of strategic significance.

Hamas’ main bank, its counterintelligence headquarters, and the office of the chief of staff of Hamas’ internal security were all bombed.

The IAF bombed the house of Iyad Tayeb, a Hamas battalion commander whose home served as a terrorist infrastructure.

In addition, a number of members of the organization’s naval force were eliminated, as well as two rocket launch pads ready to fire at Israel.

A Hamas terrorist tunnel which was located under a school and near other civilian buildings was bombed.

“The Hamas terrorist organization deliberately places its military assets in the heart of the civilian population in the Gaza Strip. The IDF takes precautions to minimize possible harm to civilians during its military activities,” the IDF stated Thursday morning.

In total, the IAF hit 600 terror targets in Gaza since the commencement of Operation Guardian of the Walls.

The Gaza Ministry of Health claims that 67 people had been killed so far as a result of IDF attacks. The majority of the deaths are those of terrorists, including several senior officers and key officials.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu chaired a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, which unanimously voted to continue and expand the attack on Hamas.

Seven people, six Israelis and a woman with Indian citizenship, have been killed by Hamas’ rocket attacks.

The Ben Gurion Airport was shut down completely on Thursday morning, and over one million Israeli children stayed home as schools remained closed in most of the country.

Estimates say that the operation will last at least another week.

Official say 20 dead and 70 injured as videos on Mexican television and social media showed the overpass falling on to cars below

A rescue operation was under way after a Mexico City metro overpass partially collapsed on Monday night. At least 20 people died in the incident and about 70 were injured, civil protection authorities in Mexico said.
Videos on Mexican television and social media showed train cars hanging in mid-air as sirens blared nearby. Footage on Milenio TV showed the overpass collapsing on to cars on a road below.

Another video showed emergency medical crews and firefighters at the scene of the accident combing through wreckage looking for survivors.
Mexico City’s mayor, Claudia Sheinbaum, said on Twitter that a support beam had given way, causing the overpass to collapse. She said that “firefighters, public safety personnel are working. Various hospitals attending. We will give more information shortly.” She said 34 people had been sent to hospital.
