Most Igbo who grew up in Lagos speak Yoruba, while those who grew up in the North speak Hausa. Either way, ko si wahala. Awa lenu e. A jo jogun Eko. Eko baje ti! Ok |

Do you know how many northerners that govern in Lagos and in South East. Do you know how many yorubas that govern in the North and South East Asia governor under military. Now my question to you, were they elected by the people or transferred just as northerners were transferred to the west also and Yoruba transferred to east. Average igbos are dumb in reasoning. |

laudate: Actually, Rear-Admiral Ndubusi Kanu was governor of Lagos State from 1977 - 1978, while Ebitu Ukiwe was governor of Lagos state from 1978 - 1979. I know, I don't count military governors as governor that govern. Do you know how many military Yoruba governors that govern in the east if we are to take it from that. I knew he and ebitu govern under military, but they were only transferred there just as Hausa gove4nors were transfer to Lagos and other states. Many, Yoruba military governors governed in the east. But we're they elected by the people. So no igbo man ever rule in our land by election and not by transferring. |

writerights: We have craftsmen and artisans from every region across the world. If you have an Igbo brother who is up to the task to take up the job, I'm not sure you'd invite the yorubas. Not everyone is educated and not everyone would have a white collar job so getting yorubas to work for you is no big deal at all. If I have to invest in the east, eastern brothers would work on my site.
I don't see why Yorubas should complain, as a matter of fact, we live in peace and harmony here in Lagos. All through school, my best friends have been Igbos. Some can speak yoruba fluently and even say our proverbs, other who can't speak definitely understand. I'm convinced most of the Igbos creating hate - filled threads against the yorubas here on nairaland are the hungry ones who don't know where the geographical location of Lagos is and who envy their brothers excelling here. They are simply willing to create troubles for them.
Owo Iyaloja is just giving unto caesar what belongs to him. These boys only do so in Lagos and no where else because they are sons of the soil. This scenario may be worst if Imo or Anambra State were Lagos. Yoruba and hausa settlers may have to pay for standing, sitting, walking or even singing in Igbo land. You really don't expect any Igbo man to come to Lagos and say Owomida, do you?
I believe our common enemy is our government and not our neighbours, until we know that, this kind of thread wouldn't cease gracing the homepage of Nairaland. Person dey lie and you dey swallow it. No be igbos that are billionaires on paper again. |

Time is ticking. Sooner or later, having Biafra will no longer be fashionable for Igbos. What happen then, my dear suffersticated friend? Standing on which way? If you are Nigerian Igbo, you would have known first hand the type of unwarranted hatred leveled against Ndigbo.
Nigerians are only interested in how to benefit from Igbos and will deny them any benefit from Nigeria or even acknowledgement for their contribution. So shove your one sided advise and first "advise" Nigerians to accept Igbos as part of this country. BTW, i know you are an Afonja! [s] gidgiddy: Very stupid write up. As you said, Fulani herdsmen slaughter people all over the country, they dont attract that level of hatred
Boko Haram and islamic fundamentalists up North slaughter people, they dont attract that level of hatred
Niger Delta militants go on the rampage destroying Oil installation, they dont attract hatred.
The Igbo man opens his mouth and talks, they this is the worst form of hatred.
Something is wrong with Nigerians. What is wrong with Igbos saying that Lagos is no mans land? If Yorubas like, they can Enugu is no mans land, most Igbos would not care.
Igbos are not in Nigeria to please Yorubas or Hausas and if the other ethnic groups dont like it, they should come together and agree to grant Igbos their separate country. Why would anyone want to be with someone they dont like?
But to be hating on Igbos with one side of the mouth while insisting on one united Nigeria is ridiculous.
Nigerians should learn to take Igbos are they are or grant them their own country. Put up, or shut up. [/s]Trash

OP will you also not blame the FCT minister if Gwari is made compulsory in Abuja?
Lagos has always been distinct from the rest of the Yoruba cities...
...Lagos Colony was a British colonial possession centred on the port of Lagos in what is now southern Nigeria. Lagos was annexed on 6 August 1861 under the threat of force by Commander Beddingfield of HMS Prometheus who was accompanied by the Acting British Consul, William McCoskry. Oba Dosunmu of Lagos (spelled "Docemo" in British documents) resisted the cession for 11 days while facing the threat of violence on Lagos and its people, but capitulated and signed the Lagos Treaty of Cession.[1] Lagos was declared a colony on 5 March 1862.[2] By 1872 Lagos was a cosmopolitan trading center with a population over 60,000.[3] In the aftermath of prolonged wars between the mainland Yoruba states, the colony established a protectorate over most of Yorubaland between 1890 and 1897.[4] The colony and protectorate were incorporated into Southern Nigeria in February 1906, and Lagos became the capital of the protectorate of Nigeria in January 1914.[2] Since then, Lagos has grown to become the largest city in West Africa, with an estimated metropolitan population of over 9,000,000 as of 2011.[5]
Leave Lagos alone and go fight for Ibadan, Abeokuta, Akure, Ado Ekiti, etc... [/s]Ori e daru. Lagos looks like your papa house. If you are pained the Lagos has been a Yoruba Land from begining of life. Kindly run enter the lovely site below. I say rip in advance bro. That oba dosumu sounds like igwe chukwudi abi?

If truly you are what you claimed you are, you'll know being and Nze does not elevate your voice far and above others in gathering of Umunnas. Again my dear 'Nze', Lagos is "No Man's Land." I have goggled the meaning, but I do not care. Calling Lagos No Man's Land to the consternation of some simpletons is a way of telling them that I reserved the rights to exercise my freedom of speech without let or hindrance.

koning: I very much doubt if you are Igbo with this azz-licking and ridiculous heading. You could simply ask Igbos to invest in Igbo land without having to bring up the issue of Lagos into it.
Lagos has never been a Yoruba Land. 97% of Yorubas in lagos are immigrants just like the Igbos, Hausas, Binis and other SS peoples. It is and will always remain a cosmopolitan entity for the entire nation. Yorubas are more in Lagos because of the proximity of core Yoruba states to Lagos.
Igbos are many there because of our ubiquitous and adventurous nature.
Igbos should invest more in Igbo states. I agree. But that has nothing to do with Lagos being 'no man's land'. Stop sucking up to Yorubas. that is if you are actually Igbo. Oga, tell your father to jump over ondo, osun, oyo and ogun states to be the gov of Lagos state since it does not belong to yorubas. At least, no one will challenge you in your imaginary no man's land. |

Every Nigerian contributed/is contributing to the growth of Lagos, the federal government used/uses money gotten from all over the country to build Lagos the more, all ethnic group in Nigeria are scampering to Lagos in other to gain back their resources used by FG to build Lagos, Thus making Lagos A NO MANS LAND..........
