Nigerian Lady has come out to explain how some men on police uniform almost kidnapped her uncle.

According to her report she said

“My uncle escaped kidnappers today in police uniform this morning at along agbarho/ warri road by Urohbor hall.
The men on uniform waved me down and requested that I should open my vehicles for a search . Of which I obliged.
After a thorough search of my vehicle and nothing was found, the saw a pain relieving drug (in sachet) inside my car handrest and they asked for a doctor’s prescription that warranted me to get hold of such drug.
After a few explanations , and I told them that I purchased it from a pharmacy store. They insisted that I should be arrested and be taken to their station.
I then requested that i put a call through to my people or my lawyer for them to be aware. Immediately, they engaged their guns, pointed it at me , seized my phones and handcuffed me.

Nigeria Football Federation(NFF) President Amaju Pinnick has hinted that the federation was willing to offer Super Eagles German coach Gernot Rohr a fresh contract but with a caveat that stringent clauses would be inserted in order to help the cause of the national team ahead of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 qualifiers.

Rohr’s contract as Super Eagles coach will elapse in June but Pinnick affirmed yesterday in Lagos that the NFF would table a new contract with the coach in January, adding everything would be conducted in the best interest of Nigerian football.

A woman was killed by a crocodile, and another remains missing, after the fifth fatal attack in an Indonesian province this year, disaster mitigation agency officials said Friday.

The two separate incidents took place in neighbouring rivers in North Konawe Regency, Southeast Sulawesi province, on Thursday and Friday.

The local disaster mitigation agency said a woman was attacked by a crocodile on Thursday evening, and her body was found later that day in Lalindu river.

On Friday the agency was called again after another woman was mauled by a crocodile in Lasolo river. The two waterways are connected and are only 20 kilometres apart.

The head of emergency division at North Konawe Disaster mitigation agency, Djasmidin, who goes by one name like many other Indonesians, said on Friday a rescue team was searching the Lasolo river to find the second woman.

“Yes, there was another attack on Friday and we are still searching for the victim,” Djasmidin said. On Thursday, 48-year-old Nurgaya, who goes by one name, was found roughly two kilometres from where she was attacked.

Aisha Buhari, wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, has lavished her husband with adulation as he marks his 77th birthday.
The first lady took to her social media page in the early hours of Tuesday to pen a heartfelt message to her husband.

Aisha described her “sweetheart” as “incorruptible GMB” — in what appeared to be a thinly-veiled dig at those who now refer to the president as a “general”.

The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr Abubakar Malami, on Monday, indicated that he could not ask the Department of State Services to release Omoyele Sowore from custody.

The minister said in the statement he could not take a unilateral decision on the release of Sowore without recourse to the court, where the ‘RevolutionNow’ protests convener and his co-defendant, Olawale Bakare, were being prosecuted for treasonable felony, among others.

The minister’s declaration is contained in a statement by his Special Assistant on Media and Public Relations, Dr Umar Gwandu, who stated that Malami was reacting to “the claim that a lawyer sent a letter to the AGF requesting the release of Mr Sowore”.

The statement appeared to be a veiled reference to the letter by Sowore’s lawyer, Mr Femi Falana (SAN), sent to the AGF on Friday to seek the release of the convener of ‘RevolutionNow’ protests from the custody of the DSS.

Falana’s letter, dated December 13, 2019, reported by The PUNCH on Monday followed the Friday’s announcement by the AGF’s office that it had taken over the prosecution of the Sahara Reporters publisher and Bakare from the DSS.

President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, on Monday, explained why the Senate would approve the $29.96bn loan request of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd).

Lawan, who stated this while addressing journalists in Abuja, explained that the Federal Government needed the loan to build critical infrastructure.

Buhari had on November 28 re-sent the $29.96bn 2016-2018 external borrowing plan to the Senate for its consideration and approval. The borrowing plan was rejected by the 8th Senate, which was headed by the immediate past President of the Senate, Dr Bukola Saraki.

The President’s demand came amidst warnings by the International Montery Fund and experts against Nigeria’s rising debts, which the Debt Management Office put at N25.7tn as of June 2019, with external borrowing accounting for about 32 per cent while the 68 per cent is domestic.

Commenting on the loan, Lawan said the Senate would approve it, but ensure its judicious utilisation.

The Senate President, who was responding to a question on whether the Senate would approve the loan or reject it like what happened three years ago, confirmed in the affirmative.

He said, “The question of whether we will pass (approve) the loan request of the executive arm of government, yes, we will pass it. If we don’t have money and you have projects to build them, how will you provide infrastructure that you need?

“But one thing is that, we are going to be critical that every cent that is borrowed is tied to a project.

“These are projects that will have spillover effects on the economy and we will undertake our oversight so well to ensure that such funds are properly, prudently, economically and transparently applied on those projects.”

Explaining why the request was rejected in 2016 by the Senate, Lawan said, “In 2016, the Senate did not pass the loan request of the executive at that time and the reason was because there were no sufficient details.

“I want to inform this gathering and indeed Nigerians that the letter conveying the loan request of the executive came with every possible detail and in fact we will ensure that we are getting the right information from the executive arm of government. So, the situation is not the same.

“In 2016, there was no submission of details. This time, I think the executive has learnt its lesson and the letter came with sufficient details.

“Nothing will really militate against the passage (of the bill) but we are going to be critical so that every borrowed amount is tied to a project.

“These are projects that will have spillover effects on the economy and we will undertake our oversight to ensure such money is effectively, efficiently prudently applied on those projects.”

The Senate President, had on October 23, cautioned the Federal Government on the continued reliance on borrowing to fund the infrastructure needs of the country.

Instead, he suggested a Public-Private Partnership option, to save the country from heavy indebtedness.

Lawan stated this at the opening session of a two -day public hearing organised by the National Assembly on the 2020 Federal Budget held at the federal parliament.

He had said, “We cannot continue to borrow to build our infrastructure, I belong to that school (of thought) that believes that, where we can have a PPP to build our infrastructure, we should do that.

“I feel that if we can build our road from Abuja to Kaduna or (to) Kano with private fund and they design a way to collect their money, let us do that.

“Other countries have done that and it worked. As long as we are not shortchanged, we have to look at it. If we have to borrow, we should borrow, where there is another opportunity we should explore that.”

Speaking on the hate speech bill controversy on Monday, Lawan said the Senate would kill the proposed legislation if the concensus opinion of Nigerians is that the law should not see the light of the day.

Lawan also said that the Senate would start working on the process for the review of the 1999 Constitution immediately the red chamber resumed plenary next year.

He said, “From early next year, our committee on the review of the constitution will start his job of constitution amendment.

“We have been very busy with the budget and so many other issues that we felt we should clear this one, and as soon as we come back, the committee on the review of the 1999 Constitution should start this job. We are going to do everything that will make governance better.”

The Nigerian Presidency has denied ordering the rearrest of pro-democracy campaigner and journalist, Omoyele Sowore, on Friday at the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Sowore was rearrested by the Department of State Services less than 24 hours after he was released from 125 days of arbitrary detention.

The DSS is under the direct control and supervision of the Presidency.

In a statement on Sunday, spokesperson for President Muhammadu Buhari, Garba Shehu, denied granting permission to the DSS to carry out the rearrest.

Chicago (AP) — Rapper Juice WRLD, who launched his career on SoundCloud before becoming a streaming juggernaut and rose to the top of the charts with the Sting-sampled hit “Lucid Dreams,” died Sunday after a “medical emergency” at Chicago’s Midway International Airport.

The rapper, whose legal name was Jarad A. Higgins, was 21. Authorities have not released details about his cause of death.

Tragedy struck Sakwaya, a village in Dutse, Jigawa State, on Saturday when four teenage girls reportedly drawned in a pond while searching for firewood.
The incident occurred ‎in the afternoon when the little teenage girls attempted to swim across a stagnant pond at Farantama district under Albasu local government of Kano state.
