The problem is the time it takes to process such application to be processed.itcpuld tup to a year too.

OloriOfMontreal:

I'd like to know if anyone submitted an Outland sponsorship application and got a work permit in the interim?
Cos according to the requirements/process, one can only submit a work permit application if one is applying for inland sponsorship. With Outland you can't get a work permit. But would like to know if there are any exceptions.
PS: Outland seems to be more favorable cos of the flexibility to travel in and outside of Canada.

Thanks

Politics / Nigeria's Problem; Paator Tunde Bakare Accuses Obasanjo by gpdkingpin1(m): 11:21pm On Nov 17, 2014
Speaking on Sunday with newsmen, shortly after delivering a speech, entitled: “The Nigeria of My Dream” at a well attended church service to celebrate his 60th birthday, Bakare said Obasanjo needed to be told some hard truth.

Pastor Tunde Bakare

“He who wants to hear, let him hear. I am going to drum what needs to be drummed. I think Obasanjo needs to hear some things before the house collapses on him, because he is responsible for the problems we face now,” he said.

The pastor who expressed doubt over the 2015 election said it was not feasible because of Boko Haram insurgency, Nigerian Tribune reports.

He explained that the country needed to take care of 2104 before talking about 2015 as it would be unwise to hold elections without dealing with the fundamental problems of the country.

DOCTOR’S STRIKE

I once met a five year old girl, who told me that she wanted to become a doctor because she wanted to save lives and nothing more and in those little glittering eyes were shimmers of hope. We met again when she turned sixteen and she re affirmed that her aim had not changed a bit and she couldn’t wait to start snatching lives from the cold hands of death.

I stumbled on her on her graduation and I saw those glittering eyes still hoarding hope and I was happy.

Then I saw her a year later, I could barely recognise her, she looked ravishing and dashing then I looked into her eyes and it wasn’t glittering anymore, it was dry and banal.

Where has the hope eloped to I asked myself?

She was now piloting a doctor’s strike action!!!!!  ‘why?’ is the inevitable question……

Was it as a result of non-payment of salaries or a drop in it, that would be reasonable I reasoned conscious of the fact that a job is a means of survival but then, when the answer hit me, I became amazed.

How can you go on strike because of a declaration of the Federal Government to make a post attainable by other medical practitioners!!! How poor, cheap, malodorous, spurious, detestable, lousy, ungodly and banal is this??

Where is her love for the profession? I asked

What could have killed her dreams of saving lives so soon? I pondererd

Isn’t she aware that persons are dying during this period? I shudder

Why did you study medicine?  I asked her

Is it because YOU were cajoled to by your parents or because you have a burning desire to save lives and bring smiles to faces of persons   I asked her

A boy had a seizure and was rushed to a hospital and YOU were not there to attend to him so he died.

A man with 7 children had high blood pressure and was rushed to a hospital and YOU were not there so he passed on.

A pregnant woman died with her baby because YOU were not there to give her adequate care.

A baby convulsed and died because when the parents got to the hospital, they couldn’t find YOU.

A final year petroleum engineering student collapsed and was rushed to the hospital and YOU were not there.

A fifteen year old boy was involved in a car crash and rushed to a hospital but where were YOU

Is this your dream??
What happened to your glittering eyes?

The famous Ben Carson spearheaded an operation to separate Siamese twins for 22 hours without a break. He did this because he still had that glitter in his eyes. He’s living his dream of saving lives and putting smiles on faces.

Are you living yours??

Next time you want to execute a strike action, ask yourself, is it worth the collateral damage.

Parents, NEVER you force a child to pursue a career of your choice because they end up being misfits and possess no love or passion for their profession.

There are other ways of proving your point or stating your claim without causing UNNECESSARY collateral damage.

I’ll love to hear from you, send comments and stories to gpojehumen@yahoo.com .

Health / Adverse Effects Of Alcohol And Smoking by gpdkingpin1(m): 4:26pm On Nov 17, 2014
LET’S GO A-DRINKING

“Don’t take alcohol, you will get drunk and not be able to control your actions and it is unchristian”  “Don’t smoke, you will get intoxicated and be incapable of controlling your actions”

These are what most persons know about the effects of alcohol and smoking, but, there’s more to it than meets the eye and I’ll love to enlighten us concerning this.

I’ll like to begin by saying that smoking and drinking are two lifestyle habits that get a lot of negative criticism in the health industry and for good reason. They both cause multiple complications with the body that can range from mild to life threatening. Here are but a few;

EMPHYSEMA

This is simply the abnormal accumulation of air in tissues, especially in lungs. The lungs are pliable organs that need to be elastic and flexible to breathe properly. Smoking causes the lungs to become damaged and it compromises their elasticity. This in turn leads to a condition called emphysema where breathing becomes laboured, even with minimal exertion. Smoking is responsible for 80 to 90 per cent of all cases of emphysema, according to PDR [Physician’s health reference].

LUNG CANCER

Smoking is one of the leading risk factors for this disease. This could emanate from first-hand smoking or second-hand smoking. Second-hand smoking is the smoke you breathe in from other people’s “business”. This can linger on in room even hours after a smoker has left.

ERECTILE DYSFUNCTION

AHA!!! This one would get the guys attention if nothing else will. To achieve an erection, males must get a steady flow of blood going to the penis. If this flow of blood is compromised due to excessive intake of alcohol or incessant smoking, erection dysfunction can occur. MayoClinic.com sites both excessive tobacco use and unremitting drinking as risk factors for erectile dysfunction.

HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE

When you drink excessively and smoke, you increase your chances of getting high blood pressure. This is defined as having a reading of 140/90 mmHg or above. If left untreated, high blood pressure can cause congestive heart failure, heart attacks, stroke, kidney damage and vision loss, notes the American Heart Association.

HIGH CHOLESTEROL

Cholesterol is produced naturally in the liver and it is used by the body for hormone and cell production. When levels become elevated, plaque can form on the walls of the arteries and obstruct the flow of blood to the heart. Smoking promotes this process by damaging the blood vessel walls. In addition, smoking lowers the levels of “good” cholesterol, HDL, that you want high.

CIRRHOSIS OF THE LIVER

The liver is a major organ in the body that produces bile which breaks down fat; the liver also helps purify the blood. Heavy drinking over the course of time can cause liver damage. In the worst of cases, a condition in which the liver slowly deteriorates and malfunctions due to chronic injury.

WRINKLES

HELLO LADIES!! This one should get your attention. The skin is composed of elastic and collagen fibres. The nicotine and other harmful chemicals in cigarettes damage collagen and elastin, which in turn leads to premature wrinkling. This could take place anywhere on the body, including the face and arms. HEHE…SO IF YOU DON’T WANNA LOOK LIKE YOU GRAND MA, YOU NEED TO QUIT!

Besides all these, it’s pertinent to note that the foreigners that we tend to copy smoke and drink                   partly due to their cold weather in other to generate body heat, the weather in Washington DC ranges around 24 C /17 C , while that in Nigeria about 86 F /71 F, Even to someone who is not good with figures, the difference is alarming, so what are we trying to heat up, aren’t we hot enough already!!

This article would be a failure if I fail to proffer suggestions on how to quit smoking so, here are a few tips;

STOPTOBER 2014

Public Health England’s Stoptober campaign is back for its third year – encouraging the nation the nation’s 8 million smokers to stop smoking for 28 days. If you can stop smoking for 28 days, you’re five times more likely to stay quit. You will begin to experience financial, physical and health benefits including a better sense of taste and smell and a reduced risk of stroke, lung cancer and heart disease, you can join England in this adventure, distance is not a barrier. You can watch the Stoptober promotional movie on You Tube or search for more information about it via goggle.

Self-help books provide advice and useful techniques.

You can find free information leaflets at your local GP surgery or library.

Your GP may be able to refer you to a stop smoking group.

Nicotine replacement; chewing gum, sprays and patches can help in the early stages of giving up but is not suitable for people who have already had a stroke.

The NHS Smokefree Helpline can help you discuss the different ways you can give up. Their helpline opening hours are Monday-Friday 9am-8pm and Saturday-Sunday 11am-5pm. Call Smokefree on 0800 022 4 332 or log onto www.cantstopsmoking.com .

Tuxli5 to stroke.org, women should not drink more than two to three units of alcohol a day but if you are pregnant do not drink at all while should have no more than three to four units a day. This will do minimal damage to the body as well as ensure the sanity of the person .

A unit of alcohol is a small glass of wine, a single measure of spirits or half a pint of weak beer or lager. I don’t vouch for this though, if you want to be clean, be clean and not have spots because the

negative effects of these twin pillars greatly outweigh the positives. Oh well!! Everyone is entitled to his opinion.

Conclusively, we are all free to make choices, but, the consequence of our choice is what we are not free from. So make the right choice today.

I’ll love to hear from you, send your comments, suggestions and stories to gpojehumen@yahoo.com .

LEAVE YOUR MARK

I was on a bus, peacefully heading home after a tiresome day when suddenly, the speakers blared out “baby,  give it to me oh Sambisa…….if you give it to me I’ll feel like Van Vicker……….give it to me oh Sambisa!”

I was startled, how can a human make a triviality of such a serious issue, who was the producer, director and writer of this sorry excuse for music? But, more importantly, who aired is on the radio. How does the kidnapping of over 200 girls have any similarity with the way ‘a girl is giving you it?’

This utterly depicts our music industry!!! How sad I stumbled upon a pic on twitter that posited that Nigerian music follow a regular pattern of “calling producer’s name”, “dem dey feel am for <somewhere in Lagos>”, “the way she dey make me feel”, “lelelelelele or any other obnoxious slang”, “the end”, HOW TRUE AND STEREOTYPIC!!!!

Sugarcane nor be bamboo!

Skiboropopo!

Kalangolo!

Yebariba samboribobo!

Disco peperempe!

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying we have to be ‘britiko’ or ‘yankee-ish’ about this but there should be a little reasoning when making a track.

Yea, you’re probably thinking but only ‘commercial songs’ make rave and accrue profit but you’ll agree with me that everyone wants to leave a mark on the sands of times, to be a trail blazer, how can you do so with “baby give it to me oh Sambisa” huh? Yea, now you’re getting my point

This explains why people still have ‘African queen’ by Tu Face Idibia on their phones and other multimedia devices but the once popular ‘free madness’ (what a title by the way) is now a thing of the past.

I saw online that a popular Nigerian artiste said he’s not going to feature in any “meaningless song” and it begs the question, does that intimate him not featuring in his own songs!! Just saying though.

Take this analogy, a music fanatic wakes up in the morning, before brushing listens to the Sambisa song, this goes on for years, and he finally decides that he’ll make a great musician, jumps into the studio and sings(that’s what he thinks he’s doing anyway), what quality of music would you expect from him? Garbage in garbage out!

Conclusively, I believe the encouragement of the teaching of music in secondary schools would aid this cause as the young folks would be exposed early to what good music entails and save our ears from Sambisa like songs.

I attended TWIST(true worship in spirit and truth), a programme organised by The Love Family and got to see individuals with melodious voices go through notes I never knew existed, what got me on my toes was when a guy who was sitting at my front; an albino, got up and led a choir to offer wonderful worship, it was splufic. My point here is if you’re musically gifted and you’re sitting opposite the article nodding your head in agreement or disagreement to all I’ve been saying, you gotta get up and do something with what God has deposited in you, stop complaining and make the change you can, I would have grabbed my guitar and started making good music but, my voice sounds like a broken record( yes, it’s that bad). So go out, and be a ‘voice’ of change and leave your mark.

JOSEPH  GOD’SPOWER.
