Linda what? Pleaseeee they should have done that earlier, her blog is a sour on the lips of journalism. Mindless lifting without giving credit is shear wickedness. Google should shut down other blogs like hers. By the way,why didn't she get a dormain name earlier? Awoof! Abi! Mtchew, good radiance to bad rubbish. |
Its quite a shame if you complain about the battery of this phone. What else do you expect from a 1920mAh battery that's powering a 5", HD(720p) screen, 1.4GHz Octa-core processor and a mali 450MP4(quad-core gpu). It was boldly written and advertised as having such rating. There's always a compromise when it comes to phones like these. You can never have it all, something has to go for the price to come down! Its a nice phone wrt spec to price ratio. For those that own the phone already,I would advise you get a power bank, or toggle between 3G and 2G. 3G when you wanna do some heavy downloading an 2G for chatting: facebook, whatsapp, twitter etc. Just my opinion DON'T FLAME except you're a newt. |

The blood of patients who recover from Ebola should be used to treat others, the World Health Organization has announced. West Africa is facing the largest Ebola outbreak in history and more than 1,900 people have died. A global group of experts have been meeting to assess the experimental therapies that could contain Ebola. The WHO also announced that Ebola vaccines could be used on the frontline by November. Dr Marie Paule Kieny, an assistant director general at WHO said: "We agreed that whole blood therapies may be used to treat Ebola virus and all efforts must be invested to help infected countries to use them. "There is a real opportunity that a blood derived product can be used now and this can be very effective in terms of treating patients." She said that it was the one positive point from so many people being infected. "There are also many people now who have survived and are doing well, they can provide blood to treat the other people who are sick." m.bbc.com/news/health-29084254?ocid=socialflow_twitter# |

oluwasegunfummi: They should collect her blood sample, @ this point she will still have those antibodies in circulation, nigeria shouldn't let her just go, she's an experimental tool, ebola virus only kills 90% of its victims, this woman is part of the remaining 10%, I repeat, she is an experimental tool, make nigeria no dull this one........eko o ni baje ooooTrue, they shouldn't let her go just like that. We need to culture her anti-bodies and this can be used to develop a serum to treat and cure ebola. That's the science behind "ZMapp". Zmapp is a serum containing the anti-bodies of mouse infected with the ebola virus. Now is the time we need our top microbiologist. Let them get to work and earn their salary |
(CNN) -- Three vials containing an experimental drug stored at subzero temperatures were flown into Liberia last week in a last-ditch effort to save two American missionary workers who had contracted Ebola, according to a source familiar with details of the treatment. The drug appears to have worked, sources say. Dr. Kent Brantly's and Nancy Writebol's conditions significantly improved after receiving the medication, sources say. Brantly was able to walk into Emory University Hospital in Atlanta after being evacuated to the United States last week, and Writebol is expected to arrive in Atlanta on Tuesday. On July 22, Brantly woke up feeling feverish. Fearing the worst, Brantly immediately isolated himself. Writebol's symptoms started three days later. A rapid field blood test confirmed the infection in both of them after they had become ill with fever, vomiting and diarrhea. It's believed both Brantly and Writebol, who worked with the aid organization Samaritan's Purse, contracted Ebola from another health care worker at their hospital in Liberia, although the official Centers for Disease Control and Prevention case investigation has yet to be released. A representative from the National Institutes of Health contacted Samaritan's Purse in Liberia and offered the experimental treatment, known as ZMapp, for the two patients, according to the source. The drug was developed by the biotech firm Mapp Biopharmaceutical Inc., which is based in San Diego. The patients were told that this treatment had never been tried before in a human being but had shown promise in small experiments with monkeys. According to company documents, four monkeys infected with Ebola survived after being given the therapy within 24 hours after infection. Two of four other monkeys that started therapy within 48 hours after infection also survived. One monkey that was not treated died within five days of exposure to the virus. Brantly and Writebol were aware of the risk of taking a new, little understood treatment and gave informed consent, according to two sources familiar with the care of the missionary workers. In the monkeys, the experimental serum had been given within 48 hours of infection. Brantly didn't receive it until he'd been sick for nine days. The medicine is a three-mouse monoclonal antibody, meaning that mice were exposed to fragments of the Ebola virus and then the antibodies generated within the mice's blood were harvested to create the medicine. It works by preventing the virus from entering and infecting new cells. The Ebola virus causes viral hemorrhagic fever, which refers to a group of viruses that affect multiple organ systems in the body and are often accompanied by bleeding. Early symptoms include sudden onset of fever, weakness, muscle pain, headaches and a sore throat. They later progress to vomiting, diarrhea, impaired kidney and liver function -- and sometimes internal and external bleeding. The ZMapp vials reached the hospital in Liberia where Brantly and Writebol were being treated Thursday morning. Doctors were instructed to allow the serum to thaw naturally without any additional heat. It was expected that it would be eight to 10 hours before the medicine could be given, according to a source familiar with the process. Brantly asked that Writebol be given the first dose because he was younger and he thought he had a better chance of fighting it, and she agreed. However, as the first vial was still thawing, Brantly's condition took a sudden turn for the worse. Brantly began to deteriorate and developed labored breathing. He told his doctors he thought he was dying, according to a source with firsthand knowledge of the situation. Knowing his dose was still frozen, Brantly asked if he could have Writebol's now- thawed medication. It was brought to his room and administered through an IV. Within an hour of receiving the medication, Brantly's condition dramatically improved. He began breathing easier; the rash over his trunk faded away. One of his doctors described the events as "miraculous." By the next morning, Brantly was able to take a shower on his own before getting on a specially designed Gulfstream air ambulance jet to be evacuated to the United States. Writebol also received a vial of the medication. Her response was not as remarkable, according to sources familiar with the treatment. However, doctors on Sunday administered Writebol a second dose of the medication, which resulted in significant improvement. She was stable enough to be evacuated back to the United States and is expected to arrive before noon Tuesday. The process by which the medication was made available to Brantly and Writebol is highly unusual. ZMapp has not been approved for human use, and has not even gone through the clinical trial process, which is standard to prove the safety and efficacy of a medication. It may have been given under the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's " compassionate use" regulation, which allows access to investigational drugs outside clinical trials. Getting approval for compassionate use is often long and laborious, but in the case of Brantly and Writebol, they received the medication within seven to 10 days of their exposure to the Ebola virus. On July 30, the Defense Threat Reduction Agency, an arm of the military responsible for any chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and high-yield explosive threats, allotted additional funding to MAPP Biopharmaceutical due to "promising results." Haute cupcakes — and ramen soup? What happens when common foods meets haute cuisine? The newest gastronomic trend seems to be repackaging everyday foods such as ramen, burgers, and even bottled water into gilded treats that can cost hundreds of times more than a common bowl of soup or dash of H20. What drives people to pay more than their month’s salaries for something that they’ll gobble up in minutes? One motivation: the experience itself. Katy Casbarian, owner of Arnaud’s Restaurant in Louisiana in the US, said it’s less a matter of money than it is about celebrating milestones in a unique and memorable way. The one- of-a-kind experience of proposing marriage with the world’s most expensive dessert, or challenging your taste buds with rare ingredients, is, well, priceless for some people. Chef Angelito Araneta Jr, creator of the Guinness World Record’s most expensive sushi (it costs a wallet- lightening $1,980) agrees. “Life isn’t just measured by wealth,” said Araneta. “It is gauged by the ability of someone to spend their time [in a meaningful way]. Most of our clients are the 1% who knows this key to… life.” For others, the chance to experience luxury is the real draw. “Anything like gold gets people’s attention,” said Chef Jasper Mirabile, owner of Jasper’s Restaurant in Kansas City. “I mean, seriously, who doesn't want to eat gold once in your life?” Inspired by a list of the world’s most expensive dishes, BBC Capital went on a mission to find the priciest things you can consume. Scroll through the images above to see 10 of the world’s most expensive food and drinks. 1. The golden cannoli Cost: $26,000 with a diamond necklace and Champagne In 2011, Chef Jasper Mirabile enlisted the help of baker Carey Iennaccaro, owner of Kansas City’s Sprinkled with Sugar bakery, to create the world’s most expensive cannoli. Having declared September “National Cannoli Month,” Chef Mirabile added this gilded treat to his menu as a limited offer. Adding to the allure, an Italian diamond necklace and bottle of 1999 Louis Roederer Cristal Champagne were included. Today, the gilded cannoli can be purchased for $50 without the necklace by contacting Jasper’s Restaurant in Kansas City in the US. 2.Meat without the ‘moo’ Cost: $332,000 You’ve eaten vegetables grown from genetically modified seeds. Now is your chance to sample the latest in technologically advanced beef. Professor Mark Post from Maastricht University in the Netherlands grew this hamburger patty from stem cells in a laboratory. But don’t grab your wallet quite yet. Right now, this special burger isn’t available for sale. Instead, it was created as part of a research project on environmentally sustainable food in 2013, funded by Google Chief Executive Officer Sergey Brin. Should it go on sale, the price for the burger is estimated at $332,000. The taste? Close to meat, but not as juicy, critics said. 3.Stunning noodles… are stunningly expensive Cost: 10,000 yen ($110) This bowl of ramen may appear as simple as any other noodle restaurant budget dish, but don’t be fooled. It includes more than 20 ingredients and Chinese stock, though the specifics weren’t disclosed by the restaurant. Chef Shoichi Fujimaki claims the dish holds 25 years of experience distilled in a bowl. Does this reflect in the ramen’s taste? Try it for yourself at the Fujimaki Gekijyo restaurant in Tokyo, Japan. 4.Glacier water included Cost: $60,000 If you think $2 is expensive for a bottle of water, how would you feel about paying the equivalent of year’s salary for one? Paolo di Verachi created this $60,000 blend using spring water from Fiji Islands, France, and Iceland glacier water, mixed with 5mg of gold dust. The Acqua di Cristallo bottle, also designed by di Verachi, is made of 24k gold and is based on a sculpture by Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani. The creation was awarded a Guinness World Record for the most-expensive bottle of water. A replica can be purchased online for $3,600. Water included. 5.The sweetest marriage proposal Cost: $3.95m This particular Strawberries Arnaud is famous for more than its Louisiana-grown fruit. Topped with a 7.09 carat pink-diamond ring, this cream and strawberry confection will make a marriage proposal especially sweet. Arnaud’s restaurant, located in New Orleans, said the dessert was created after a customer asked to place a diamond collar on a turkey for a special Thanksgiving Day proposal. If the multimillion dollar price tag is too much, bring your own ring to the restaurant. Strawberries Arnaud can be enjoyed for as little as $8 without the jewellry. Dubai is the land of superlatives. It already lays claim to the tallest building and the biggest fish tank in the world. Now the city has unveiled plans to build the largest mall and biggest indoor theme park in what will be the first temperature-controlled mini-city. The 8-million-square-foot shopping center, dubbed Mall of the World, will include 100 hotels, a medical resort, event facilities, and a theater district—all of which can be shielded from the elements by a large retractable roof. The project, according to the developer, Dubai Holding, will be built “in phases in alignment with the gradual growth of family tourism in Dubai.” Attracting shoppers from abroad is the goal. The hope is to draw 180 million of them a year by providing enough entertainment, activities, and accommodations to keep the whole family happily consuming without the annoyances of unpredictable weather. The developer also wants to cash in on the growing medical tourism industry, which counts an estimated750,000 people a year from the U.S. alone. The Mall of the World will have a 3 million-square-foot health-care complex providing specialized surgery and cosmetic procedures. With its emphasis on tourism, the project differs strongly from the American mall, which has largely failed to compete for local shoppers against the convenience and prices of online retailers. But the Mall of the World could face its own problems if worries over Dubai’s real estate boom have merit. Reuters reports that financial institutions continue to pour money into property, even though the UAE central bank warned in a recent annual stability report that the real estate market was overheating. In 2008, another outlandish building project—a group of 300 man-made islands arranged like a world map—came to symbolize Dubai’s financial crisis. If another crash comes, the Mall of the World will be regarded as a harbinger of trouble. mobile.businessweek.com/articles/2014-07-11/dubai-to-build-the-first-air-conditioned-mini-city

If only you guys knew that Cortana is coming to all nokia/microsoft lumia devices in the windows phone 8.1 Os update. |
one answer: sell your car and buy bicycle. |
nani.666:Sir,you really can blame him. Smartphones are making the dumb more dumb and the smart smarter. That's what you get when people spend time on social media instead of sites that enlighten their mind!! |
Marvell23: You really don't know what you are saying guy. IR blaster is not the same as Infrared. The later enables your phone to be used as remote control. And not all high end phones have. Get your facts rightMr marvel please do some research before posting something that will bare your ignorance in science. IR blaster operates in the Infra-red frequency range and as such uses infra-red. Many flagships especially samsung utilize infra-red finding popular application as remote controllers for TV's and DVD's. |
After following the situation in Iraq, one question began troubling me; what caused the hate between shias and sunnis. I was even more troubles when sunni rebels/jihaddist, ISIS, declared an Islamic state in iraq(having shias and sunnis) ,following fierce fighting between Iraq govt forces and the sunni militias,as well as establishing a caliphate spanning from syria to iraq. They have appointed a leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, as caliph and "leader for Muslims everywhere". So I ask, what led to the bitter hatred between shias and sunnis and which do we practise in Nigeria? I found and interesting write-up here about shias and sunnis: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/ShiaSunni_relations |

Hotdiamond: you just contradicted your previous post.Hotdiamond no mind the guy, after much bashing we don manual reset the guys thinking. Good job ehinaruto. Next time do your own research before posting. Hope yyoue learned your lesson? Like previously posted AMOLED is a display tech just like LED,LCD,OLED etc while gorilla glass is a protection tech just like sapphire glass and tempered glass. So don't get it twisted. |
Lord_Reed: Stop writing what you know nothing about. FYI AMOLED is display technology while Gorilla glass is protection technology so you cannot compare the two and say one is better than the other.Chai!!! This ehinaruto guy just reeks of ignorance and illiteracy. The human being says AMOLED is better and gorilla glass with all confidence. Young man do your research before coming here to exhibit your stupidity. I expected nothing less from someone who uses a tecno mobile( well I guess smartphones have made the smart smarter and the foolish more foolish). Mtchew. Good work tecno, but we need the updated MTK SoC. |
Now I see tecno though the SoC is so last year but this is a huge step. I wonder why tecno is always late to the party. Other chinese smartpphone makers have since released phones with these specs and they are very cheap. Anyway like they say,its better late than never. Android 4.4.2 kitkat is good even though we are now waiting for Android L. In all tecno can now boast of having a flagship. Thumbs up PS. Tecno would do themselves a whole lot of good if they provide OTA updates. For me,that's a deal breaker. |
Nairaland attacked, wow!! I'm not surprised. I expected it to happen since the admin, seun and mods didn't exercise adequate control of what its members posted on this forum. If seun doesn't address this I fear the worst is yet to come. Condolence seun, |
