So if Barca played their A game yesterday, they would have walloped Man Utd like 4 or 5 goals to nothing? Was that your expectation in a CL game against one of the top of sides of England?

Even during the Guardiola era in Barcelona in 2008–12, the supposed golden generation of the club, when his team faced a strong Ferguson's Man Utd in 2009 and 2011, they didn't win with such a wide margin.

They defeated Man Utd with just 2 goals. Barcelona also dominated play those nights, like they did yesterday.

You need to review your definition of "poor games" because the Barcelona team I watched yesterday night had a great game against one of England's best clubs.
oga stop typing rubbish. You maybe the one who does not know what good football means.

No be bayern beat Barcelona a top club in Spain 3-0 in 2013 for camp nou? No be PSG beat the same top club 4-0? What makes you think man utd of this season can't collect 4 from barca.
Top la Liga club, Madrid collect 4 for Ajax hand for their own home.

Barca were "so sh1t" they dominated play from the beginning till the end, won the match at Old Trafford, and Manure couldn't even record a single shot on target for the whole 90 minutes.

Yet Barcelona were "so sh1t".

Perhaps if they weren't so sh1t, they would have trashed Manure 10 goals to nil, since their opponent is a lowly English side.

go and argue with this from skysports.

Manchester United fail to punish sloppy Barcelona and Lionel Messi

Barcelona held the door ajar, but Manchester United proceeded to hit their head on the frame. An opportunity missed.

United did not have a shot on target in their 1-0 defeat against the La Liga side, who effectively stopped playing after banking their first-half away goal.

When Lionel Messi booted the ball out of play while trying to find Jordi Alba on 55 minutes, not only was it a rub-your-eyes moment, it also highlighted the possibilities on the table for United.

However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men did not possess the maturity or quality in the final third to punish Barcelona's sloppiness.

The summary of your long epistle is that Barcelona defeated Manure right in their own backyard, as expected.

A worse fate awaits the Red Devils at Camp Nou in the return leg. You can start conjuring the excuses you will give when Manure lose that tie next week.
what is your problem? do you think i am trying to defend man utd's? so, for your mind i will bet against barca beating man utd? if man utd lose to porto this season, i no go surprise. if this man utd win barca anywhere, na upset. but, the fact that man utd was shit does not mean that the barca that won the match was not shit. i didn't watch the match, but from the reports i have read so far, the were below par yesternight

Bloody lucky! Barcelona too good for United even on an off night for Messi & Busquets

The Blaugrana enjoyed plenty of possession in their 1-0 win at Old Trafford but created few chances and needed an own goal to win the game
It was more by luck than judgement but Barcelona earned a huge 1-0 victory over Manchester United on Wednesday which gives them a fine chance of overcoming their Champions League quarter-final hoodoo.
The Catalans won’t think the tie is over, though, far from it, after they were pinned back during an increasingly nervy second half at Old Trafford.
In the end, Barca's backline held firm, with their hosts failing to even register a single shot on target. But that said more about United's lack of incision, than the visitors' solidity.

i didn't watch the match, but this is what i saw on goal.com this morning. i think it validates ibime's point, but no, barca fans will always tell themselves lies. the worst is that they believe their own lies. it should always be about defending the club you support.

what is wrong in a barca fan replying ibime like this?

"Yea, you are right. my team was shit yesterday. we didn't play like the team i know. this is not how we have been playing since this season. we have been great so far this season, but yesterday's performance is unacceptable. if we play like this in the return leg, then i am afraid of our chances of qualifying."

everything must not lead to an argument. tufiakwa!!!!

Forget all these stories; it's easier for Man City to beat Tottenham by 4 goals in the home match than for the latter team to defeat the former to advance to the next stage in the competition.Tottenham, the infamous great bottlers, will need nothing short of a miracle to beat Man City at home.

The fact that Kane sustained an injury in the first leg and will miss the away game at Etihad has even compounded Tottenham's woes.
oga, tottenham don't need to beat man city to qualify. any draw, tottenham qualifies. any winning that is not more than 1 goal margin that has tottenham scoring, tottenham qualifies.
Now you see why they don't need a miracle to qualify? there are in the driving seat. the ball is in tottenham's court, not city. though tottenham can still fail to qualify, just like in the case of madrid, atm and psg

He gambled against Arsenal but it worked. Maybe you were not reading comments here when people saw the lineup. You keep talking about lost both legs as if I did not tell you how. Liverpool were only the better team in the first 30mins of the 2 legged tie last season. It is one of the vagaries of football.

If you are asking why the same things won't happen this season. 1. This City team is better than that one (for e.g they deserved to beat Liverpool home and way this season). 2. Pep is a better manager this season. He has absolutely demolished every big team at the Etihad this season.

Putting the two together, Tottenham will need nothing short of a miracle to come out victorious after the second leg. I won't make any bold predictions, but it could be Pochettino's worst loss as a manager of Tottenham. It is not being boastful. This City team is so much better on their day.
what made this city team better than the one that lost home and away to liverpool last season? Is it mahrez? If yes, then he didn't gamble by starting him on tuesday. The team was his strongest team, judging by that?

If Wednesday is upon you, then wait for it. I already said City will knock Tottenham out. That one is not even arguable to me. I also said I am not making any bold predictions about the scoreline so asking me to bet is just clout-chasing. Those who watched the match then should not give excuses about watching this one. I don't want to hear, Aguero was offside, Sterling's penalty was soft and other hogwash that people on here have said before.
lol.
You don't want to hear that aguero was offside and all that, but it is the same excuse you made for city losing home and away last season. Are you not a comedian like this?

If pep lose, na gamble, mistake, referee. In em win, na em masterclass. Continue. You are funny.
Nobody is saying that Tottenham will surely qualify. But saying that they will need a miracle to qualify after being 1 goal up is one stupid statement that i can't with other stupid statements that i have read here. The statement need new folder to archive it.

Losing to United was a freak result even though he gambled as well- that is not why they lost. They threw chances away (Sterling was chief in this) and got complacent. United got a break, got 2 goals but then got their winner of an offside. Afterwards, it was about impressive saves from De Gea, close calls and bad refereeing.

Pep made a mistake against Liverpool in the first leg. He said so. But as great as Liverpool played their first goal came from an offside and the 2nd goal was a long range shot from Oxlade. In the second leg, City not only deserved to win the game, they were cheated by bad refereeing. They led 1-0 in 5 mins and then Sané scored a LEGITIMATE goal which the ref ruled as offside (even when the Liverpool defender played the ball to him) which would have meant they led 2-0 going into the second half. The game was poised for City to win but that goal was ruled out. Pep was banished to the stands for complaining and Liverpool took initiative, then scored in the 2nd half after catching a break from the referee in the first half. At this point, City needed 4 more goals to qualify. There was nothing to play for again and Otamendi made another mistake towards the end of the game which gave the game to Liverpool. There is nothing tactical to discuss there.
Raumdeuter even better pass you. This your sentimental bias na legendary.

So na only match wey pep win wey no be gambling.
Just look at the excuse you are making for someone that lost both leg of a competition.

Made a mistake, bad referring, gamble etc. Continue.

Having said that, what makes you think all the above can not happen next week and Tottenham will qualify?

If you were told before the match that united would win city at the Etihad last season, would have given a thought to it? After the first half, would you have given united a chance?

Did you ever imagine that man city will still be beaten by liverpool again at Etihad after what happened in the first leg?

What is your explanation to why pep didn't win any of the fixtures listed above last season?

Every matchup is different and every team is different as well. The issue is not about scoring away, it is about converting your chances when they come.

Barcelona vs CFC 2-2 is cosmetic. That game was 2-0 with Barcelona going through. Then the Defence messed up to let Ramirez go through out of nothing. At 2-1, Messi misses a penalty to put Barca ahead again on the tie. Then Alexis misses a sitter by putting the ball on the cross bar. Torres' goal to make it 2-2 comes at the last second when the game is over etc etc.

Every fixture is different. I have seen Tottenham at their best this season and City at theirs. I know who my money is on.

Even if I am a fan, I try to be objective. Pep is not trying to win a game and leaves KDB and Sané on the bench till the 89th minute nor does he play Fernandinho and Gundogan with only Silva as the creative outlet. Or leaving Mahrez on till the 89th minute as well. He gambled that is my only conclusion. And this "virtual" away goal everyone keeps giving Spurs in their calculations. I don't know how it works. It is easier for City to win 5-0 than for Tottenham to lose 2-1 at the Etihad . If Tottenham were to qualify, trust me, you will see Angels on the pitch playing for them.
