COVID-19: Nigerians Expressed Concern Over the Mysterious Deaths in Kano State

Nigerians have expressed concern over the suspected deaths of prominent people and 600 others in Kano state.

According to information released on Saturday, several prominent residents have died in the state in the past 24 hours.

We reported that some showed symptoms of coronavirus, what killed others was still unknown. There is speculation about meningitis, but residents and the government have yet to explain the true cause

Recall that the national coordinator of the Presidential Working Group on COVID-19, Dr. Sani Aliyu, had declared in one of the daily press briefings of the PTF that the federal government did not currently know the real death toll from Kano.

According to information released on Saturday, several prominent residents have died in the state in the past 24 hours.

They are Aliyu Umar Dikko; First Bank Regional Director Abdullahi Lawal; the former managing director of Continental Merchant Bank, Ibrahim Ayagi; Musa Ahmad Tijjani, editor of the Triumph newspapers; Adamu Dal, former chairman of the State Civil Service Commission.

Others are Nasiru Maikano Bichi; Musa Umar Gwarzo; Ustaz Dahiru Rabiu, ex-Grand Khadi; Salisu Lado; Nene Umma; Garba Sarki Fagge; Shamsiyya Mustapha; Rabiu Dambatta; Kabiru Ibrahim Bayero and mother of a businessman, Ado Gwanja.

Reacting, the Nigerians on their Twitter account called on the governor of the state of Kano, Umar Ganduje and the federal government to act quickly and to carry out autopsies on the bodies to determine the cause of these mysterious deaths.

@Chuxugo “It is not a matter of tradition / religion, so the law of the land should replace any other belief / social norm. If I were the FG, I would immediately order the NCDC to exhume all bodies and d ‘conduct COVID-19 tests immediately. We need to know the root cause of these deaths in Kano.’

@Omojuwa “I hope there is already a lockdown in Kano. Except that there is a new virus from Kano – unlikely, it looks like the Coronavirus that is wreaking havoc without hindrance – extremely likely. “

@Aashfin “Kwankwaso and Sunusi lamido Sunusi would not have remained silent on the situation in Kano state at the moment, I am sure they miss the people of Kano state.”

@Hislawdshio “My sincere condolences to the bereaved people of Kano. Some of us know that not all of you voted for Buhari and Ganduje. They imposed themselves on you all and abandoned you in these difficult times. I pray that help will arrive soon. “
