This is just a reactionary move and a foolish one by the government.

The govt spends more than 20M per health worker subsidising their professional education. When they now become qualified, they run abroad.

I think they should drop the subsidy of the education of health workers and then introduce student loans for their education. Then, once qualified, they give them fantastic pay with the necessary tools to work. That way, they will pay back the education loan and they will be earning well and living well while at it.

most nurses in Nigeria are from ultra expensive private schools usually owned by churches, their families invests millions of naira into their education in order to open the door to international work for them, so why should the government frustrate them?
