People, especially those of the South extraction, have or gradually accepting second fiddle as a status!

That the PDP presented a Northerner may be justified because GEJ, a Southerner, was the president before being ousted by the APC which currently has a Northerner.

With a single brush, the leadership of the APC has rubbished all its aspirants as a bunch of inconsequential figures who are incapable of winning a national election!

So we will now have both political parties having a Northerner as flag bearers of the two major parties.

So, where is the so-called "One Nigeria" chanters where a region is only good enough for the position of a "mere commissioner"?

Even those waiting for annoiting oil may have been scammed as it were!
It's disheartening really.Moreso by the fact that we southerners are beginning to accept this narrative.

Going by this, then the north will main power in perpetuity.

I still have my reservations about the numbers they claim to have up north, but the south with its intellect should know better.
PoliticsRe: APC May Re-open Sale Of Forms To Allow More Northern Presidential Hopefuls by Grinch41: 4:40pm On Jun 02, 2022
Southern Nigeria should not accept this silly permutations and insist on that the APC candidate comes from the South. It's up to the APC politicians up North to sell the candidate to their people and ensure the party wins.

All I see is just greed in disguise.

PDP goofed,it shouldn't happen in APC.

I wonder why the ruling party would be scared to pick a southern candidate. They have the benefit and power of incumbency.

In my opinion, the North just want power.Afterall Jonathan, Obasanjo, and Abiola were voted massively by the North in the past. Why can't it happen again?

It's just occurred to me that no celebrity have spoken out about the gruesome killing of Deborah Yakubu who was killed by those menace all in the name of a stupid religion called Islam. I could recalled vividly well how all of them came out in one voice against pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo of COZA when he was accused of rape and how the likes of Daddy freeze is always quick in attacking men of God about tithing and offerings and calling them scam and all sorts of names.
Now here we are with such a situation and none have spoken out against such barbaric act but if it was something that has to do with a pastor or the church I know by now all of them would have been out raining abuses and insults on the church and pastors.
Abeg rest. What is their speaking out going to do?

You should be out there protesting with other christians down South instead of waiting for them to speak for you.

This is politics sir,it doesn't work that way.

Tinubu despite his popularity (good or bad) is still going about selling himself and making consultations. He understands the game.Clark will not just pick someone as an elder statesman until that person makes the move.Ayim did same to Jonathan and he got the endorsement.

I only wondered how we "SS/SE "was quickly thrown in the mud before the game began. The earlier ibos realize how insignificant they are, the better for them.

Ask your annoying Igbo brothers who go about insulting and looking down on others in the SS.There are so many of us who did like the Igbos and were more comfortable around them despite their god mentality.

Recently, the brainwashing from IPoB has turned them into something else, hence the rapid growing hatred for the Igbos amongst the SS tribes.

Oga o, we all know only a single candidate would emerge on the pdp ticket, (or any other party's ticket for that matter, since a party cant fly multiple presidential candidates) IF the east secures the party's ticket.

Now, we all know NO OTHER CANDIDATE from any other political platform would come close to the pdp candidate in terms of support from Easterners. Even Ikemba couldnt get more votes than the pdp candidate (who wasnt even from the east for that matter) in the east when he ran for election. So there's no risk of splitting eastern votes between multiple eastern candidates on different platforms. It will ALWAYS BE AN ALL PDP AFFAIR as for as presidential election is concerned in the east.

Now, what stops Clerk from saying he'dsupport such a candidate or even ensure an Igbo man secures the party's ticket?

Can you people see your defence lacks even the slightest of logic? undecided
Saraki is technically from the South anyway, but that's another topic.

Has there been a strategic and aggressive drive from the SE so far, apart from insulting everyone else?Have any political aspirant from the SE consulted him like Saraki did? These are questions we should ask.

He can't just wake up and support anyone.
PoliticsRe: The Forked Tongue Of Edwin Clark. by Grinch41: 11:27am On Jan 30, 2022
OmenkaLives I beg to disagree.Pa Edwin Clark is absolutely right. The South be it Igbo,Yoruba or any other ethic down south must present a consensus candidate. That way we'll have a fighting chance against the North.

The Igbos coming forward with different candidates won't,and to a larger extent the South, help our quest to get to Aso Rock.

I do not understand what you're talking about

The Apois in Ondo state speak Yoruba, their lifestyle and way of life is the Yoruba way.

Most of them even see themselves as Yoruba, most Apois I know, are living in Ibadan and Lagos, they school in schools in the South West

Believe me, they are not ready to drop their language or way of live for any Ijaw central dialect.
That's because they are in a state dominated by Yorubas, and in order to survive economically or politically they must identify somewhat with the dominant ethnic group. This will not be so if they were in say,an Ijaw republic or an Ijaw dominant state.

I know some Apoi and Arogbo myself, and they proudly identify themselves as Ijaws, even though they speak only Yoruba.

PoliticsRe: Finima(bonny) Crisis & The Burden Of Ijaw False Historical Revisionism by Grinch41: 1:57am On Jan 26, 2022
9Pluto:
The Finima part of Bonny local government area has been embroiled in some leadership tussle recently which has unfortunately resulted in some form of bloodshed. While a section of the Brown(Omuso Brown) house has made their claims and installed their so called Amadabo of Finima, another section sought the counsel of the Hart House, got the recognition of His Majesty, The Amanyanabo of Bonny and also capped their own Chief recently. In both cases, supporters of each block have been making reference to one single entity—history. The question is; if both parties are referencing history (a series of past events that happened at a time), why are their claims different from one another?
Well, the simple answer is that Bonny history as well as the history of a vast majority of the riverine people in Rivers State has been continuously falsified. This is despite the fact that they were among some of the earliest southerners in Nigeria to come in contact with Europeans and have most of their history well documented than most other parts of Nigeria. Unfortunately, most people including the youths only go to school routinely but do not read or ask critical questions or conduct their own research.
Parts of the narratives I have listened to about the Finima crisis was from no other person but Asari Dokubo(Ediabali himself). In his account in support of the Amadabo group, he made a lot of claims which include the following:
He questioned King Pepple’s authority over Finima
He practically questioned the Manilla Pepples’s identity in Bonny, claiming they are strangers in Bonny who met Bonny Aborigines
Though I am interested in knowing where these strangers came from, however, I will leave this for the Pepple family to address as there is more than enough historical record on Bonny and its indigenous people devoid of recent Nigerian authored fabrications.
He also talked about Bonny people chasing away some earlier Amanyanabo until Europeans intervened
Truth is no Amanyanabo has ever been deposed in Bonny. Except for maybe the current Kings father who was forced into fleeing Bonny when Isaac Adaka Boro attacked his palace during the civil war, none of the other Kings who abdicated his throne was an Amanyanabo including the Great Jaja of Opobo. Amanyanabo is a recent traditional title.
He claimed Kalabari and Bonny has similar tradition and to a lesser extent Okrika and Nembe
I do not know to what extent he wants to take his claim about Kalabari and Bonny having similar tradition, however Kalabari and Bonny people both have different origin. Truth is Bonny people are of mixed origin and are not people of a single ethnicity. According to Captain Hugh Crow of Liverpool in his memoirs, they were originally a mix of majority Ngwa and Ndoki Igbos(King Pepple, Halliday, Asimini, Hart etc) and Brass people. This is why the igbo language, culture and tradition(masquerades, music, musical instruments, body marks also known as uri) continue to persist in Bonny till tomorrow. Bonny natives were traditionally known to have two short perpendicular tribal marks beside their eyes which is typical of the igbo tribal mark.
Of course, there have been later migrants from both Arochukwu people and parts of Kalabari(who are mostly found in Finima).
He claimed Finima was in existence before Manilla Pepple’s house
Well, most early European accounts of Bonny did not record the existence of Finima community despite the fact that they were already trading with the Pepple’s around the 18th century(1701-1800). This is a significant pointer that Finima community was not in existence during the reign of Opubo the great. In case Asari or any other person would want to come up with all those false narratives about 1500’s, the truth is, Bonny was not in existence then.

Like I said earlier, most parts of the riverine communities (Okrika, Kalabari, Andoni etc) of the current Rivers State are heterogenous in origin. Before the arrival of ijaws east of the Niger delta, some of the most documented people on the east coast were, the Igbos(including the Breetche/mgburuichi), Efiks, Ibibios, Mongs, Quaws, Ottam, Brass and Apias. However, some of this people have been supplanted today. It is on record that a significant section of Okrika(Nwa creek/Wakirike) were igbo who originated from the Afam. Some of them like Asari himself confirmed, still speak the igbo language and in the recent past was ruled by King Ohakwe. The same thing applies to the heterogenous origin of Kalabari(New Calabar). This were originally efik/ibibiod people who later mixed up with igbos and ijaws of which the Ediabali lineage was one of the most influential.
However, what is worrisome in most of these places is the ijaws penchant of falsifying history or records and claiming that most of these localities are exclusively ijaws despite obvious linguistic and cultural differences. Some ijaw revisionists have continued to claim ijaw is the 4th largest ethnic group in Nigeria ahead of the Efik/Ibibio and Tiv. Meanwhile, it is on record in Awolowo’s speech in 1967 that while the Efik/Ibibio had a population of about 2.5 million people, Ijaws were a mere seven hundred thousand (700,000) people.
Yet several recalcitrant elements from this group have continued to make false claims including recent claims that Ijaws are indigenous to Ondo, Edo, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Abia, Akwa-Ibom and Cross-River Sate. Some have even included Ogoja in an as shown in the picture below. One funny thing is that if the so called ijaw groups assemble today, they are going to communicate in English language because a Okrika man would not understand a Gbaramaturu man, a Bonny man would not understand an Ogbia man etc yet ijaws continue to lump people of entirely different origins together under the false ijaw claim. To solve the language confusion, they are proposing the replacement of indigenous languages in some localities while suggesting the formation of a new language by borrowing words from the different groups in the delta to form a new language. The first of such a dubious project in Nigeria.
This is a wake up call to Niger Delta communities in general and Bonny people in particular. The youths most especially need to read and properly research their identity so they would not be conferred a false identity due to false narratives. It is not enough to go to be literate, as one has to be capable of critical thinking and start questioning several false narratives being peddled around in the name of history to avoid the illusory truth effect…in psychology, a situation where you hear the same falsehood over and over again till you begin to believe it.
What is the point of this silly thread exactly?

You've infiltrated all Ijaw groups on Facebook, and have seen how the people identified themselves proudly as Ijaws. Some of you have gone to the extent of editing Ijaw history on Wikipedia. We have identified some of you here on Nairaland on those Ijaw Facebook group.
