Please, I'm confused in the grading system of academic background. My school uses a 4 point scale. However according to their own scaling for Nigeria. 4.0 is first class while 3.5 to 3.99 is second class under 3.3. My grade is 3.68 which is a first class but falls under 3.3. Which one did you choose when you were applying?
According to the University's website, the below is the conversion scale for degrees from Nigeria

Nigerian CGPA to McGill CGPA
4.0/4.0 or 5.0/5.0 - Equivalent to 4.0/4.0
3.5 to 3.99/4.0 - Equivalent to 3.3/4.0
4.5 to 4.99/5.0 - Equivalent to 3.3/4.0
3.0 to 3.49/4.0 - Equivalent to 3.0/4.0
4.0 to 4.49/5.0. - Equivalent to 3.0/4.0

I had 4.4/5.0, so I chose 3.0/4.0 ( McGill University scale). If you had a CGPA of 3.86/4.0 in Nigeria, your McGill University converted CGPA would be 3.3/4.0.
You are correct by selecting 3.3/4.0

TINUBU over to you,

The allegations are weighty and should be thoroughly investigated.
PoliticsFGN Investigates Azman Air of Nigeria For Illegal Aircraft Delivery to Iran by Grit2943(op): 9:07pm On Dec 16, 2024
Following reports that a Nigerian airline, Azman Air, helped the Iranian Aviation Industries to avoid sanctions imposed on it by the United States government, the Federal Government has said relevant directorates will commence investigation into the issue.

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, however, noted that matters of smuggling were within the purview of the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS.

Spokesperson for the NCAA, Mr Mike Achimugu, in a chat with Vanguard, said: “Is the NCAA mentioned (in the report)? Smuggling is under the purview of Customs, not the NCAA. Until these allegations are confirmed, I cannot speak about them. These are weighty allegations. I have forwarded to the relevant directorates to commence investigations.”

When Vanguard contacted the Chairman of Azman Air, Abdulmunaf Sarina, over the development, his number was busy.

Over the weekend, Middle East Forum Observer reported that Iran’s largest airline, Mahan Air, used Azman Air to deliver an Airbus A340-642 widebody passenger aircraft to Mahan Air on November 15, 2024.

The news medium said while the aircraft was flying from Kano to Kabul, its crew turned off the Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) transponder at an altitude of 39,000 feet after entering Iranian airspace, though it eventually landed at Tehran’s Mehrabad International Airport

The report reads: “The Iranian government seeks to exploit the decline of U.S. and French influence in sub-Saharan Africa to increase its political, economic and military influence on the continent. This expansion began in Burundi, Burkina Faso, the Republic of Congo, and has now extended to Nigeria.

The U.S. Treasury Department has sanctioned both the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and many Iranian officials due to their support for terrorism, though since the Biden administration entered office in 2021, the Iranian regime has implemented measures to circumvent sanctions.

For decades, sanctions imposed on the Iranian Aviation Industries were challenging for the regime and its military and civilian entities to bypass. However, as the Revolutionary Guards expanded their Africa presence, Mahan Air, Iran’s largest airline, was able to use its connections on the continent to acquire passenger aircraft and business jets from Africa into Iran. Given the dual use nature of aircraft, similarity between civilian aircraft and military variants as well as some interchangeable spare parts, its Africa connection allows the Revolutionary Guards to bypass sanctions.

Mahan Air, for example, has exploited the negligence of Nigerian authorities to smuggle passenger aircraft. On November 15, 2024, Nigerian airline Azman Air, the country’s seventh largest airline, delivered an Airbus A340-642 widebody passenger aircraft to Mahan Air. That day, while the aircraft was flying from Kano to Kabul, its crew turned off the Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) transponder at an altitude of 39,000 feet after entering Iranian airspace, though it eventually landed at Tehran’s Mehrabad International Airport.

According to an anonymous source from Iran’s Civil Aviation Organisation, Mahan Air subsequently has sought to obtain more Azman Air Airbus A340-642 widebody passenger aircraft. On December 11, 2024, French authorities intercepted one such plane at the Châteauroux airport 150 miles south of Paris as it was preparing to fly to Kaduna, where Azman Air intended to store it for several days before changing its registration code and then flying it to Iran.

“Mahan Air operates 22 Airbus A340s, including four leased to Conviasa, the flag carrier of Venezuela. The A340s are crucial for Mahan Air to transport cargo and passengers to destinations in China and Thailand, as well as to airlift Qods Force personnel, proxies, and weapons to Beirut, and previously to Damascus, Aleppo, and the Russian-Syrian airbase at Hmeimim as well.

“The A340-642 series is the largest of the Airbus A340 variants, with a capacity of 308 passengers. The use of Rolls Royce Trent 556-61 engines makes it easier for Mahan Air to maintain these aircraft, compared to the smaller A340 variants powered by American-made General Electric CFM56-5C4 engines. This ease of maintenance is a key factor driving Mahan Air’s efforts to acquire more of these aircraft through Nigeria.

The Nigeria example highlights how the U.S. intelligence community must better monitor aircraft movements in African countries, particularly in the sub-Saharan region, to identify planes that Iran may seek as part of its sanctions evasion operation.

Azman Air is just one example of the many companies involved in Mahan Air’s recent sanction evasion operations in Africa. Macka Invest in Gambia and PT Asia Global Airlines from Indonesia also have helped Mahan Air and other Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-linked Iranian airlines to acquire airplanes registering them in countries like the Republic of Congo, Burundi , Burkina Faso, Nigeria, and Gambia before smuggling them into Iran. By imposing sanctions on these companies, the U.S. Department of the Treasury can also impede the Iranian aviation smuggling networks.

President-elect Donald Trump can reimpose ‘Maximum Pressure’ to tighten the screws on the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and its extensive business empire but if his policy is to succeed, he needs to identify Iran’s sophisticated strategies to evade such sanctions. Plugging the Revolutionary Guards’ exploitation of African airlines would be a good place to start.”

That was how Buhari commissioned a rice pyramid which disappeared the following day.

The yeye governor probably collected money from wold bank and diverted the money to personal account.

Wanting to show to the lender that he made use of the money for its purpose, the unwise governor want to hijack someone else's project.
He didn't even acknowledge the owner or term it as a partnership.
He claimed sole ownership by OGSG.
PoliticsGov. Abiodun Fraudulently Parading My Rice Farm As World Bank-assisted Project by Grit2943(op): 8:29am On Sep 13, 2024
A young farmer named Bello Zabarmawa has refuted the claims of Governor Dapo Abiodun and asserted that he is the owner of the 200-hectare rice plantation contrary to claims that the project was funded by Mr Abiodun’s administration with support from World Bank.

Last month, Mr Abiodun and his entourage including a crew of photographers and videographers, visited the rice plantation in Magboro in the Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of the state.

The governor posed for pictures holding the harvested rice grains while his media team parroted claims that Ogun has joined states such as Lagos and Bayelsa to grow local rice, raising expectations among residents for rice to be available at affordable prices..

But Mr Zabarmawa, a special adviser to Kebbi State Governor, debunked the claim saying the rice farm was his project, according to PM News.

Mr Zabarmawa was notified of the rice plantation-friendly soil in Magboro after one of his associates, Haruna, visited the village in 2019.

Mr Zabarmawa arranged to disburse an interest-free loan to about 200 farmers to plant rice on one hectare.

Given it was an untilled ground, he hired bulldozers and other farming equipment to clear the land and prepare it for planting season.

But given it was an enormous expanse of the land and project that community members including the village monarch welcomed with joy, Mr Zabarmawa was encouraged to seek the government’s assistance.

He paid N6 million to secure 220 hectares on lease and registered it with the “Young Service Grow” using “Alubarika Farms,” PM News quoted Mr Zabarmawa as saying.

He admitted that the Ogun State government supported the project by paying 50 per cent of the cost of clearing the ground and supplying fertilisers.

When I started, the Ogun State Government promised and paid 50 per cent of the clearing cost why I paid the balance,” Mr Zabarmawa told PM News. “That time I was buying a bag of fertiliser for N45,000, I paid N23,000, and the government paid the remaining N22,000.”

According to Mr Zabarmawa, when the rice was ready for harvest, Ogun State governor visited the farm to inaugurate it, noting that his promises since then have gone unfulfilled

“There was a time I wanted to harvest, the governor himself came here. The commissioner has been here twice. It was the governor who flagged off the harvest. I was very happy that day,” Mr Zabarmawa disclosed. “But, I still need government support.”

The farmer lamented the high cost of running the rice plantation where he spends a minimum of N400,000 daily on labourers’ wages.

“I spend money to clear the land. I have a plan to clear 1,000 hectares. I’m calling for government support. I’ve brought in three bulldozers now. I’m the only one paying for now. I paid N600,000 to bring the bulldozers to the farm and I pay N400,000 labour on each of them every day.” Mr Zabarmawa bewailed

The farmer said he gave out loans between N4 million and N6 million to about 60 farmers and solicited support from the government “so that we can meaningfully engage our youths who don’t have work to do.”

The farmer asserted that those he empowered “have become millionaires.”

Another farmer who was present at the store where Mr Zabarmawa purchased solar panels for the farm, informed the newspaper that the government only paid 35 per cent of the energy bill leaving Mr Zabarmawa to bear the larger financial burden.

Similarly, Yusuf Sulaiman, Secretary of the Albarika rice farmers, affirmed that Mr Zabarmawa was the one bankrolling the farmers and footing the bills.

A bureau de change operator turned farmer, Abu Garba, said he was a beneficiary of Mr Zabarmawa’s benevolence, stressing that he received a N5 million loan to start rice farming in Magboro and was able to harvest 500 bags of rice.

Mr Abiodun’s statement while inaugurating the harvest implied that the rice farm was solely the project of the Ogun State government with support from the World Bank.

“In this place, I have 12,500 hectares of land, and all we have farmed is 200 hectares that yielded N1 billion for 200 farmers. From here, I can feed the rest of the country. We will scale up this project immediately from 200 to 2,000 hectares and generate N30 billion in revenue,” Mr Abiodun said.

This brings us closer to making Ogun State the food basket of the nation,” the governor said without mentioning Mr Zabarmawa with whom the state shared the fertiliser and clearing cost.

The governor’s aide, Abiodun Talabi, was not available for comments to clarify or debunk Mr Zabarmawa’s ownership claim to the rice farm.
