Politics › Second Niger Bridge Should Be Toll-Free Just Like Other FG Projects by Grit2943(op): 7:50pm On May 23, 2023 |
To be honest, it will be injustice to charge toll on usage of Second Niger Bridge while other projects done by the Federal government are toll-free.
Example is the newly constructed Loko-Oweto bridge linking Benue state and Nasarawa state.
I commend the FG for completing these two gigantic projects. However, fairness must be taken into consideration in terms of usage.
Lastly, I am not from the SouthEast but a concerned Nigeria incase anyone tries to label me a tribalist for expressing this view of mine.
God bless Nigeria. |

Wagwanbrethren: Well, the naira can be strengthened against the dollar by increasing our foreign reserves, which would make it less expensive for the Central Bank to purchase dollars in the foreign exchange market. This could be accomplished by increasing the amount of money that the government collects in taxes and by attracting foreign investment.
The government could also reduce its spending and borrowing, which would free up more money to be invested in foreign reserves, or better still adopt a more conservative monetary policy, which would help to control inflation and reduce the demand for dollars. Thank you very much for your detailed input. |

Good morning everyone.
Please what can be done to have the naira strengthened against the dollar?
The current exchange rate has made the price of all imported items like vehicles, electronic gadgets etc skyrocketed.
It is really saddening currently.
It hasn't been favourable for most businesses to experience growth due to the exchange rate. |

9jahotblog: Kogi 2023: Bello Declares War On Igala Tribe, Doing All He Can To Reduce Igala Nation To Nothing- Arc Gabrieil Adukwu
A former Minister of State for Health, Arc. Gabriel Yakubu Aduku, has called on the people of Igala Kingdom in Kogi state to close ranks and shun selfishness to save the race from continued subjugation.
Speaking with newsmen on the November 11 2023 Kogi governorship election and the fate of Igalas, Arc. Aduku said Governor Yahaya Bello has been trying to reduce the Igala kingdom to nothing politically by his actions.
Aduku, who is also the Chairman of Ukomu Igala Organization (UIO), said the problem with some of his Igala kinsmen is betrayal because of cash inducement, stressing that money is the major challenge working against the unity of the people of the kingdom.
“This forthcoming election is another test for the Igala people to be united, and to be clearly seen to be united. And by that, we can save our kingdom. Those of us who are elders in this system now are willingly giving our time and other contributions and continue to appeal to the people to realize that the objective of Bello in particular is to reduce the Igala nation to nothing. That is what he wants to do. He will not succeed, and that is why the people need to know that we will all be steadily destroyed if such is allowed.
“But the thing is that the people must all work together, and not that along the line some persons will retreat and begin to destroy the system because of cash inducement. In fact, it is money that is the problem working against the unity of the kingdom,” he said.
Aduku said the Igalas attempted to try to get the governorship, but the system has not allowed it, and that is how the system will continue to plunge the state into more and more trouble because of the way Governor Yahaya Bello wants to manipulate the political process in the state.
According to the former minister, their outlook in the election also is for opportunities to be opened up to other parts of the state so that they can all participate equitably and work properly towards the election. with all seriousness.

Quadrilateral12: Dear Nairalanders,
I am looking forward to starting a palm oil producing venture in Abeokuta. I have a 3 plot of land that I intend to use
I will like to confirm if there are any palm tree farmers in Ogun that I can easily source Palm fruit from and to confirm the price per tonnage.
Any advice on this business will be helpful
Also any advice on where I can get thr palm fruit to buy will be much appreciated.
Looking forward to hearing from you all.
Thanks I will advise that you set it up in a place where palm nut is readily available. Places like Ondo and Edo etc are best locations for such business. If you settle for Abeokuta, you will need to be purchasing palm nuts from Ondo and Edo before processing. This will increase production cost due to the logistics involved. |

buygala: Whatever it is you do, don't listen to the advice of that guy up there telling you to import a vehicle with your 2.1m budget..
First off, lowest custom duty for any vehicle imported into Nigeria presently is 1.4m..Then what kind of vehicle can one buy in the abroad, truck to shipping location and ship all within your remnant budget of 700k naira which is less than 1k Dollars? ..
This hasn't even taken into account the possibility of your overseas plug shipping you a lemon knowingly or unknowingly , and the possible cost of replacing the vehicle parts vandalised before shipping or upon arrival in Nigerian ports, plus all the small small fees you will pay to different agberos before the car can exit the Nigerian port... Or the off chance of the ship carrying your vehicle capsizing at high sea, leaving your vehicle resting at the bottom of the ocean.
Before you know what's going on, you might have spent far above what you would have paid if you had simply bought the car in naija, or even lost your entire funds.
Walk into any car stand, make your choice, get a good mech to do pre- purchase inspection for you if you aren't car savvy.. If the vehicle passes the inspection test, request and verify all the vehicle's papers, pay and zoom off.. All these can be done within one afternoon..
Just try to avoid middlemen anywhere, more especially most nairaland car advertisers as most are middlemen looking to chop profit even more than the vehicle owners...
If you can get a direct owner of a well maintained naija used vehicle make of your choice, the better for you.. Some Nigerian used cars are in far better condition than the scrapheaps called Toks in naija.
Waka comot buy moto wey u dey see korokoro.. No let anybody push you to buy monkey wey dey ontop tree all in the name of bypassing car dealers.. Comparing the stress and possible risks associated with importing a vehicle, it's far wiser and cheaper to allow the car dealer his 150-200k profit and carry your moto quietly. You too much baba. Thank you for the detailed analysis. God bless you |

The car dealers we have in Nigeria are simply not helping matters, they have inflated a Nigeria used car by 100percent. It’s so unfair.

famology: Na so the legislative arm supposed to be. The executive go dey respect themselves. They're power drunk. Like this Edo house of assembly now, nothing will be passed anyhow. They need 16 members to pass things. There'll be mutual respect and everyone will seat up. We don't want to ever see rubber stamp again. I can never forget what Ahmad Lawan said in 2019 that "he will support anything Buhari brings to the national assembly because he knows it is for the good of the nation". No checks and balances at all. How I wish every legislative arm national, statewide and locally will not have a single party having at least 2/3 of the total seats. |

famology: That was a cheap propaganda to buy sympathy. But I love the new house. Nobody has 2/3 majority. It'll deepen democracy. We don't want rubber stamp house. This is how the assembly should be going forward. I wish we had same in the national. Same here. It will make the executive sit tight. It is same at the new national assembly to be inaugurated. APC doesn't have up to 73 senators and 240 house of representatives members. |
