ovieigho: our visa testimony! !!
spiritual confidence: 90%
fluency :20%
mock interview :Non
composure :50%
I give glory to almighty GOD for coming through for me during my visa interview, I never envisaged the kind of favour , Grace and mercy he showed me and my friend (not a nairalander) today.
scene one: we got to the embassy around 5:40 am and before I could look back my guy had paid 1k Sara money to all those street guys , if u were at the embassy around that time , u go see one guy wey dey para (na me) I later went to the police who advised me to let it go.
The spiritual angle to my visa. last year December I went to seek the Lord on the mountain (CAC ori oke ikoyi), I have been fasting and praying since then.
June 1st to 30th 2017 we had a powerfully packed vigil tagged "while men slept"...30days from where I actually got the revelation that my case is settled.
why I refused mock interview:
I am afraid I am not so fluent and with the little time , if sir texrem start pointing out mistakes I will be demoralised all together but I thank him for his willingness though.
I told God I don't want to spend more that one minute with the V.O
the transcript proper!! This lady (VO)refused all except a small lady since I noticed her and funniest thing is she will allow you to make your case and then say thank you and handed back your passport and the blue paper. ..lol
prior to my time I was already next for her to be interviewed and he was busy with a man that has a robust travel history and he also speak fluently and sound. I thought the man will get his visa , even the man himself must have been rest assured and the lady typed for like 1min and gave the man blue paper .While that was going I was already praying in tongues ...
my turn. ...
The lady asked me :
tell me about your programme why did u chose the course how did you know about the school Why the school...
my responds were short and I wasn't too fluent and I was even disappointed in myself thinking she should ask one more so I can cover up my mistakes ........ and she said her usual word "thanks for coming " while her hand was going up to pick the paper.......For my mind I said this woman no ask me more questions sha...I Don Bleep up.......
lol and behold when her hand was coming down I heard another thing ....."pick ur passport in the next three days and u will be needing ur ( passed the I 20 back to me ...I wan mad.......
In other news my friend was already waiting for me outside ...He got his visa too....
NB : visa issue to me is a spiritual battle and one needs to take it to the Lord and the Lord alone in faith...no dilution. ... I saw a guy that was already talking alternative even before interview. ..guess what he was refused.
I thank all the people that make this thread to be alive till date ...justwise, wallspring, lagosismyhome, texrem, sureboy and many more I can't remember ... I thank oludare. .my alma mata guy......First and the best....
I will post my transcript soon. ....lolzz
but seriously all u need is on part 10 transcript. .. (for those trying to go to embassy).....
I dedicate this success to all those guys who take the pain to post delay and refusal transcript here for us to learn...that's an act of bravery. ..I can't do it o.....lol Thankfully you won't have to, but it's quite imperative you do.. you learned from others, that's enough reason to. Congrats man!!! Cheers... |

KELVIN086: This is a simple question na , all I just want is for a phd student to tell me the number of years he was given ,and if it's possible for one to collect 10 years because me myself I'm also doubting this guy , that's why I'm asking the question. But someone answered you now... Then you decided that he was arguing with you... Now you're doubting your guy and are just asking question... Anyway, F-1 visa class is 2 years "renewable" (PHD students are mostly retained anyway, since almost all of them are been funded, and America doesn't like to loose on any investment "which is not a bad thing" you could check online for clarity... |

preciouschydo: VISA TRANSCRIPT Visa approved on June 29, 2017 @ Lagos Consulate. Sorry this is coming late It was God who made it all possible and I thank him immensely. I have been a follower of this thread and read the old transcripts as advised by great minds of this community. I want to specially thank Bigfrancis21, he is truly beyond description as a friend and helped me a great deal all through the process.
It rained that morning and the security guys were far less concerned to know cold dey nack me dat morning regardless of my tie, lol!!! The interview was smooth. I was interviewed by an older lady above 40 years on June 29, 2017. She had denied two applicants right in front of me. Well they somehow where not clinical during their interview, one guy was speaking phonetics with her while the other lady was busy saying she applied one school because her aunty leaves close to the school. Mine lasted less than 3mins. I didn’t have smile on me that morning, reasons I don’t know why. Not typical me. I walked up to her, no smiles on my face at least not after the rain don nama me wella and my glasses had bubbles on it. ME: I greeted her sharply as she is elderly, no smiles on my face and passed my Passport alongside I20 VO: she typed and turned with no single line of smile or grin in her face and asked when did you finish High school ME: 2007 VO: Bachelors? ME: 2012 VO: what have you been doing since then? ME: I have worked a couple of places but I currently work in an ISP company in lagos as a Technical Support Engineer and my current work experience motivated me to pursue further studies in cybersecurity (I was pretty fast in reply but she cuts in) VO: **Cuts in; how many schools did you apply? ME: three. Apart from Umd, University of Texas ElPaso and Morgan State university VO: how many acceptable? ME: I got offer from UTELP but a decline from MSU VO: Why do you choose University of Maryland? ME: Because UMD is one of the top 25 best university in Engineering in US and have one of the best Cybersecurity centre *** VO: ***Cuts in*** not typing this time, looked so straight on my face with no smile still and asked; What does your Father do? ME: I was surprised as I indicated my Uncle as sponsor. But I replied: He is a successful business man that is into importation of tailoring materials from *** VO : ***cuts in***, I will approve your visa, ***didn’t hear the rest***…she continued** please try study your books and have fun in US during your study. Miraculously the long awaited grin and smiles emanated from her face ME: but too bad still no smiles on my face, I just say thanks and struggled with a grin.
I balled out thankful to GOD. The interview was like a flash (3-4Mins) and God was all involved with guidance from Bigfrancis21. Wishing all future Applicants success but please never you say you applied one school. Please never ever say so. It’s a damn red flag…. NEVER SAY YOU APPLIED TO ONE SCHOOL!!! LOVE YOU ALL!!!
I AM REPOSTING THIS SO THAT SOME PEOPLE WILL NOT SAY, I DIDNT INCLUDE EVERYTHING THEY NEEDED. THERE IS NO ISSUE BEING SO MAD IF YOU ARE OFFENDED BY FIRST POST. ENJOY THE EXPLICITE AND GOOD LUCK IN YOUR SEARCH FOR SCHOOLS AND VISA. GOD BLESS OUR HUSTLE Thumbs up!!! |

LagosismyHome: But i dont seee anything wrong with this XX..... this info is hardly relevant to anyone. What difference would it make knowing when someone finished... everyone life path is different particularly for this section Well, my take is different. The time frame, Type of Job and job description is quite what the DS160 is all about in my own opinion... And you'll understand why some people are being denied based on the info on their DS160 which is what they'll use to interview you in most cases... And believe me, I doubt there's any way anyone can figure out who someone is just be reading their transcript and their Nairaland username.... besides, of what relevance is the info to me?!!! We post transcripts here to help fellow students get admitted like we have. why limit the help that was provided to us on a platter in full... it's my opinion sha o... |

Since you're not stating your full name, banking details and all, I personally don't think there is need for all those ish... e.g the way you profile your job description might help someone understand how to go about theirs. Someone might choose the same school you chose, they could work around your research about the school and add to theirs... why are we making it look like our primary school exams where we cover what is not!!! I know I'm wrong. And I apologize... I pray I'll be forgiven... The date was July 11, 2017 (A Tuesday) Not what I wanted though. at least considering the popular believe that "a Monday or a Friday is the best" And my appointment was slated for 7:45am. I woke up around 5am, was ready before 6am. Told only my brothers about my interview. I sneaked out with my friend, I got there around 6:41am, I felt I was late and started jogging. Then about 2 guys were like "stop running camera dey watch you" Even though I like logic gan, I decided this was not the day for reasoning!!! I started walking briskly. On joining the queue, I decided to maneuver my way to the front like a smart Nairalander, this guys no gree o. Ended up on the queue with people who's appointment was 8:15, 8:30, and even 8:45. On getting inside, I was literally on my feet for over 3 hours. Last Last, he reach my turn.... VO: Pass me your passport (I gave him) VO: Your I-20 and Sevis (gave him that too) VO: What course are you going to study Me: Computer Science at the University of Houston Victoria VO: Why did you choose University of Houston Victoria Me: Well I chose University of Houston Victoria because the department have a Concentration in Networking and Security which is my primary interest. Also the department is a member of the Microsoft Academic Alliance and The Oracle Academic student Initiative. VO: What is the Oracle? Me: (I initially went blank, then o got myself) The Oracle is a program (didn't add ing and language "programming language" VO: Which other schools did you apply to? Me: University of Central Oklahoma, Texas A & M kingsville VO: Why University of Houston Victoria (again) Me: Like I said earlier (*repeat "slowly now" All the while typing, and I was like o my God. this guy ask me questions now, I am prepared. Inside my head I was like, that $3k scholarship na small one o, I have a waiver to pay in-state-tuition.... He just grabbed a white paper, circled and was saying this things I can't decipher *I'm not even sure I heard him say Congrats or I'll be approving your Visa. I was just monitoring him all the while... But who cares!!! I got an approval... My 2 kobo: I initially didn't tell Dad and Mum cuz my dad can pray for favour for 2 hours, and my mum will ask more questions than the VO hence putting me under pressure... The days of the week does not matter, another important thing is your DS160, you should be super detailed (No super stories though) especially the work descriptions. Once again I apologize... |
