eaglechild: Spare us abeg!
You obviously, meant what you said.
He just presented a superior arguement so learn from it and stop hiding under the cloak of sarcasm.
Hope you know, it requires a certain level of intelligence to be truly sarcastic.
Can you read at all, my reference was to his being near the scene of crash.

MacLovington: .

Behind every sarcasm or joke is a subtle expression of belief. So this kind of sarcasm is rather frequent on this forum.
Well, don't know about that.
Foreign Affairs › Re: Helicopter Crashes In Central London by gulfer: 2:05pm On Jan 16, 2013
MacLovington: .

Ha ha ha! For starters, street sweepers are gainfully employed and don't do scam to soil our name even further.

Assuming a streetsweeper earns £6 an hour (I think nobody earns that little these day), and works 10 hours daily for 22 days a month = £1320
Assuming tax & NI deductions amount to 25%, his nett income = £990. Not alot agreed. But he can get around £700 extra as tax credit if he has kids as a matter of right.

So total: = £1690 per month. if he's not extravagant, he can put away around £800 monthly = over N200,000.

In 5 months he can buy a cheap plot of land in Ikorodu or Badagry.

So those of us who spent donkey's years doing degrees here and earn higher (and pay MUCH higher taxes) may not be as thrifty as the streetsweeper. While he may not buy land in Lekki (he can around Ibeju-Lekki if he's patient), he can still do tangible things.

So the mentality of looking down on people because of their work is silly really.
Clap for yourself for the analysis. Do you know brother Johnson's of FUN-TIMES fame; if you did you'll get the sarcasm in my question.

MacLovington: I live not far from there as are many other Africans.
A relative of yours might also be living in the hood!
Are you gainfully employed 'there' or are a street sweeper?
Car Talk › Re: Have You Notice Yoruba Drivers Putting Alot Of Fancy On Their Cars by gulfer: 9:18am On Jan 16, 2013
kels on point: Here in my area we have a lot of Yoruba folks driving cabs and they like putting a lot of fancies on their car and make use of the horn frequently in fact if their horn is faulty they consider it as a major fault. One interesting thing about them is that they choose a particular brand of car they use for transportation like when i was small i do see them with datsun, from that they shifted over to Mazda and now they are gradually migrating over to this Toyota privia. Why do dey act that way?
Whats your point Man?

Politics › Re: Fire In My Home A ‘Minor’ Incident, Obasanjo Says by gulfer: 10:40am On Dec 28, 2012
Well, he owes Nigerians no obligation to reveal extent of fire. last time I checked, an ex-president becomes a private citizen at tenure end although with some level of state support to him. If the burnt part of the building houses any of his famed JUJU and power amulets, this probably is the beginning of the end for him as is always for powerful Yoruba men; the gods always weaken them for the smaller problems to finish them. mark my word, '2013 may not be very rosy for some people' and will be a year a lot of looters get their rewards. lipsrsealed
