@Op, hope you applied for the Dangote graduate drivers' scheme? You might be lucky with this one and will certainly be better than the menial jobs you currently use to get by.

pastormustwacc: We disagree to agree. I am not an enemy of oyedepo in anyway. The only thing i dont support about pentecostalism generally is the issue of tithes, finish.
And this affects several churches, even RCCG that i am a member of (mas o menos - in spanish).

Paused the thread to wade off a spiritual attack, wow, it seems i have made some powerful new enemies on nairaland

Where did we stop? Okay, the fact that we dont support the same doctrines does not make us enemies.
I think this biography exerpt said to' use whatever wealth he acquired to spread the good news of the gospel as a big-time Christian philanthropist, not a pastor!' but not the other way round?

Car Talk › Re: Has A Kid Ever Scratched Your Car? Like Written A, B. C... by gulfer: 1:36pm On Nov 02, 2012
timbros: This reminds me of a hilarious joke i heard from somewhere (most probably fictional sha)...

A man went to see a friend and parked his SUV outside. The car has 4x4 written by the side. A mad man passing by saw the 4x4, came nearer and made his calculations, then using a piece of metal he roughly embossed =16 on the body. The owner, when he came out was so mad with rage on seeing it and the worst part he didnt know who did it.

Another day, after respraying the car, he came to see his friend and parked the car in the same spot again. The mad man passed and saw that the =16 have disappeared. He thought to himself "Who cleaned off this my maths nah?" and he used the piece of metal and scratched =16 again and went off. This time when the owner saw it, he divised a means to avoid it happening again (thinking its little kids that use to write on the car). He now sprayed the car again and went to an artist to print =16 on a sticker which he placed next to the 4x4.

The next time the mad man saw the =16 neatly pasted next to 4x4, he said "ehen! Now you got the answer correctly" and he used the piece of metal to mark a very looong big good, nike style, from the back door to the front door... grin grin ;

NYSC › Re: Should NYSC Stop Including Phone Numbers Of Corpers In The Year book? by gulfer: 4:13pm On Oct 30, 2012
Why the Hala na!The NYSC does not compel you to put your phone and email in the year book. It's just that most corpers wish to have a link to each other after the NYSC, which is why most are eager to put their phone numbers and email. I just chatted with a fellow corper whom I met way back 2003 in Kaiama, Bayelsa State. Its got its good and bad side; public listing of phone number and email.
Politics › Re: Four Feared Dead In Ogun Auto Crash (picture) by gulfer: 3:52pm On Oct 30, 2012
brabus: Best maintained my foot. You mean that road that has killed over thousands of people is best maintained.

FYI, I drove on that road everyday for 2 years
and I can tell you its the worst express road in South West with too many dangerous curves.

In a country where the govt respect her citizens, we would never find such massacres (as I deem it) repeated on a daily basis. (Remember, the same road killed Alasari).
In fact, accidents are not due to the bad infrastructure only, they are brought about by the lack of respect of each other, and total absence of law enforcement.

If the police and other law enforcement agents were doing their job in an honest and clean manner, we would not be mourning the dead now. Yet, we all know, how most police officers are corrupt and how easily they can turn a blind eye on any contravention as soon as you give them a bribe. The problem lies also in our lack of civism and lack of respect to the law and to each other.
________
Even the damages and losses caused by the flood in Otuoke can be averted if we have good leaders. Find out how its down in developed countries. Presently, there's lockdown in some parts of the US to Hurricane Sandy.
I say you lied with the emboldened part. The road has curves I agree, but only a fool and suicidal person takes curves with speed. I drive regularly on this road to visit my sister who is married in Abeokuta and will tell you that people take unnecessary risks with the speed on this road. On Alasari (RIP), Do you know he rode a jeep and took a sharp curve at a speed too high for control and which resulted in his death according to witness reports? You can blame government for everything but not the excesses of some of the citizens. In America, the major cause of accident is excessive speed and drunk-driving; as we say in safety, Human error accounts for 90% of road accidents.

ogbeche77: Are you for real too? Comparing Natural disaster to Road maintainance
Did they tell you guys that the vehicle ran into a ditch before the accident, requiring maintenance of the section? FYI, the area where the accident happened is one of the best maintained highway road in the SOUTHWEST. Excessive Speed and loss of control is the likely cause and he should not have adduced this to the governor.
Politics › Re: Four Feared Dead In Ogun Auto Crash (picture) by gulfer: 12:17pm On Oct 30, 2012
brabus: No, its mine cos I placed those nails on the road and I'm the agency responsible for road maintenance. I'm also responsible for placing speed breakers/limits on those road.

Abeg, go sleep jare. The Gov is just a ceremonial head, abi?
Are you for real? OK, blame Jonathan for the floods in Otuoke!

Politics › Re: FG May Fly Governor Suntai Abroad For Treatment by gulfer: 8:58pm On Oct 26, 2012
Even Fashola will not volunteer to be treated in Lasuth once the illness or injury is beyond minor.(
siobahn: Better treat him in Taraba State, if he was a good governor he would have improved the health care system in that place. Why take him abroad? Someone put things in order over there. If those people abroad were looting the way politicians do here, there will be no good hospital to take him to.
